ActionScript 3.0 :: Can't Make Text The Right Size
Jun 20, 2011
I'm having a frustrating problem. I'm trying to get the text announcing the levels in my game to be the right size when it's online. It works fine offline, but when I put the swf up online the text looks like it's about 2.4 instead of 24 like I am trying to get it. Here's the code in the start game method:
I have a movieclip which is scaled depending on xml data. However, I have a problem in that this results in a text label within it also being shrunk or stretched. Is there any way to make sure that the text label stays the same size?
When you drag the screen in any direction the background scales and rezises.But How do I make the text stay center and a certain size so that it wont scale to fit the screen and will stay a certain size
I'm attempting to make a Textfield that is a fixed size and that replaces the overflow text that an ellipse (...). Has anyone found any clever ways to do this?
I would like to know how to make flash size (width and height) full size in the browser? the real size of flash is w:955px h:600px I tried to make w:100% and h:100%, it makes pictures pixelate.
Problem: I am trying to get a very simple text resize going, for my main content area in a flash website. My aim is to get a button, that on click, increases the text size of a dynamic text field.
[Code]....
This is what I tried, I am very new to Action Script, so excuse the futility of my code.
Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?
how do i keep text in a text field from being stretched? when i say text i also mean pics cuz i loaded from a html file.the thing is, i have a container thatresizes to display different content and the text field is in it.. i dont want to alter it
I normally work with print design but am designing some flash banners for a client. Just have some questions about file size.My current banner is 125kb but they want it under 25kb. Is that practical for a flash banner?Also, I have done tests with import options and it looks like if I import my artwork as an .ai file and convert to symbol then it gives a lower file size than importing as a png or jpg.How can I make my file size lower? I know it's hard to answer without seeing the file but is there an option similar to 'save for web' in photoshop where I can adjust the quality to reduce file size?
I want to make a pop-up window which pop up when a button is pushed. And I need to set the size of the pop up window to 900 x 700... I found a tutorial on the net on how to do it but it dosen't work,
function jspopupWindow(event:MouseEvent):void { var desiredURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("javascript:NewWindow=window.open('page.html','newWin','wi
I was working on something or other today and a question came to me. Would it be possible to make a swf know how big it is, weather embedded into an HTML page, or running in flash player.
So pretty much, I want it to, if it's playing in the stand-alone flash payer, if you stretch out the window vertically, it would know
The first thing I thought of was keeping track of _root._xscale or _root._width, but they didn't work.
I have a code for randomized stars. My problem is how do I make it randomize at any browser size? It's a full flash site that I am making. Actionscript nub here. Heres what I have for the size of the randomization.
ActionScript Code: var areaWidth = 500; var areaHeight = 500;
I'm building a portfolio full flash site, trying to make a resize to fit with any monitor size. I have two swfs. One main.swf and page.swf as a child which loads within main one.
My problem is when I resize my browser or directly from Flash: main.swf file and resizing with my mouse. The page.swf keeps loading over and over again. I want it loads once and when resize it will fit with size of any browser dimension.[code]...Make resize to fit with any monitor size?
I have a script that calls for an external swf file. It can import the file no problem but it is always the same size. The problem is that I made the swf file with smaller dimensions and it is still to larger in my window.[code]...
How would i make a web banner that maybe could expand to a bigger size when i roll over it? i see people doing these over the internet but do not know how.sometimes the web page changes to accommodate for the bigger web banner once the user rolls over with their mouse.
I've got some swf's that I want to be able to load in to an mc and for the swf's to fit to the size of the mc. This works with jpeg's but not swf's, maybe to do with the way they've been set up, but I can't change these swf sizes.The code I have, (that's from another thread) will load a jpeg and make this fit, but not an swf is:
Code: // container movieClip x and y positions var container_x = 116.45;
1. How can I change the size of the brush tool? It's all greyed out on every project I start, stuck at the very smallest size (0.10). I'm trying to trace over a photo at the moment, and it's taking FOREVER with the tiny little brush. It only un-greys itself after I draw a line, but I can only change the size of the line I've just drawn. As soon as I go to draw a new line, it goes straight back to size 0.10.I'd use the pencil tool, because I can change that, but...
2. How do you make the eyedropper tool put your chosen colour into the pencil colour box as opposed to the brush box? Every time I use it, it forces me to use the brush. Which, because of the above problem, is ridiculously inconvenient to draw with in just about every situation.
I'm wondering if there is any way to make the bubble sizes scale or resize when the size of the chart resizes. If the bubbles are set to a specific pixel size, it seems as though the size is set and that's it. So, if your chart is large, the bubble is size X and if the chart is small the bubble is still size X. [code]...
I have a question, not necessarily about coding, but about setting up a file. I want to create an expandable ad, but I don't know how they work. Do I make the stage the size of the expanded part? How do I only have the unexpanded part act as though it is a different, smaller size.
I am going to have a situation where i have all sorts of different sizes of graphical data coming at me from XML. The only thing that all of these assets have in common is that they will be sharing a 100px by 100px thumbnail and they are SWFs.My question is, how can i make an object fit into the thumbnail so that:1) Theres no cropping of the item2) Items smaller than 100x100 must be enlarged3) Items larger than 100x100 must be shrunk
when i create stage and make its width and height in pixels Web Browsers show it with pixels too. so i want to make a stage which width and height would be 100% in web browsers. i just want to place buttons and some stuffs on the top and right of the web browser.
While creating one photo gallery I am facing one problem in controlling the Font Color, Font Size and other characteristics of a text loaded into a text field from an XML File. The name of the text field in question is my_txt it loads the title from the xml file attached herewith. how I can control the behavior of the text loaded in that text field.
My swf file is rather large, so I tried changing the quality settings and the publish settings, but nothing I do seems to change the size of the final swf.
My swf file opens automatically in my web browser when I double click it. It takes up the entire browser window space. Is there any way I can make it play at the proper dimensions without using html? I want to send this file to other people and I don't want them to have to view it in a web page but when it scales up it doesn't look so good. What can I do?
