ActionScript 3.0 :: ChangeWatcher - Handler Function Doesn't Fire?

Jun 19, 2007

I am having problems with a ChangeWatcher.Everything seems to be set up correctly.The canWatch method returns true, the isWatching method returns true and if I query the return value of the getValue method I get the correct information, including changes. But for some reason the handler function just doesn't fire.

Flex :: Get ChangeWatcher To Fire When XML Is Appended To?

Feb 25, 2010

So I had a requirement to add an undo function to my app and I discovered this nifty ChangeWatcher class, but it's not doing exactly what I want and I'm hoping someone knows how.ChangeWatcher seems to monitor assignments to the variable reference. So when I say:

myXML = <xml/>

it fires off it's function just fine and dandy, but when I say: myXML.appendChild(thisOtherXMLVar)

I get nothing, even though the variable changes the reference doesn't so ChangeWatcher doesn't fire off the function.how to get ChangeWatcher to pick up on all changes to a variable?

Flash :: Add Such A Handler, The NetStream Client Doesn't Function As It Did Before?

Nov 2, 2010

I'm trying to add a custom callback handler to a NetStream client in a p2p application. The problem is, when I add such a handler, the NetStream Client doesn't function as it did before. It seems the NetStream.client object is changed. I know the default object is this. But changing the client to this doesn't solve the problem.The remoteControlStream, is the incoming stream. And the localControl stream is the stream being publishedThis is the localControlStream that's being send by the peer, and received as remoteControlStream:

private function initLocalControlStream():void{
localControlStream = new NetStream(nc, NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS);
localControlStream.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, localControlHandler);
localControlStream.publish(myPeerID+"control");[code]...

The onPeerConnect method of the localControlStream doesn't get called when I connect when the above handler is added. When I remove the that handler, the onPeerConnect method gets called.

ActionScript 3.0 :: NetStatusEvent / MetaData Doesn't Fire Until Video Is 100% Loaded?

Sep 21, 2009

I'm having a bit of an issue with a video player I'm building out. I THINK that it might be the encoding process on the backend that's causing this, but I can't be sure. Basically, when loading an .flv from a server, the NetStatus events and onMetaData received doesn't fire until the video is 100% loaded. This is causing some pretty major issues including not being able to play the video until it's fully downloaded (and these videos could be 20 minutes long for all I know).

Flex :: Events - MouseEvent Doesn't Fire When Mouse Stays Over Element

Apr 23, 2010

i'm trying to make a scrollable box, when a mouse enters and STAYS on "wrapper"'s area, "pubsBox" moves 10 pixels to the left.

<mx:Canvas id="wrapper" height="80" width="750">
<mx:HBox id="pubsBox" horizontalGap="10" height="80" width="100%" />
</mx:Canvas>

My problem is that I'm not sure how to make the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER work, to recognize that the mouse is still ON the area and so pubsBox should continue to move 10 pixels to the left every second. I understand that i have to use a Timer, but what I'm concerned about is the fact that I can't get Flex to recognize that the mouse is still OVER "wrapper" and continue firing the event.

Flex :: Flext Text Link Event Doesn't Fire Until Clicked It Twice?

Jun 22, 2010

I've got a canvas within which I have a list. The renderer for this list calls upon a "Text" field, with the "link" element of this field set to a function. The "htmlText" of the field is set dynamically to a mixture of words and links. Basically the function checks to see which tag within the htmlText has been clicked and performs an event accordingly.However, you have to click the link twice for anything to happen. Whilst debugging the code I noticed that the function referenced by the "link" element isn't actually even called until the 2nd click.

<mx:Text
id="textCanvas"
width="100%"
color="0x323232"
selectable="true"
link="{lbl_link(event)}" />

I've changed the code a little bit to make it easier to follow, but the ActionScript is roughly as follows:

private function creationComplete():void {
textCanvas.htmlText = "Hello <a href='event:username'>" + username + "</a>";
}

ActionScript 2.0 :: Last Empty Movie Clip Generated Doesn't Fire EnterFrame More Than Once

May 22, 2008

I have a flash file that reads and XML file, it creates an empty movie clip in a placeholder (mc_image_holder) for each entry in the file, so 4 entries in the XML file = 4 movie clips inside the placeholder. it does this like so:

Code:
if(success)
{
var nm:MovieClip = mc_image_holder.createEmptyMovieClip("swfHolder"+i,-((i) * 10));
nm.loadMovie(filename);

[code]....

however, for some reason, the last created movie clip in the place holder never fires the onEnterFrame event more than once, so, If I were to trace the word "hi" I would only get it once, where as if I apply that to each of the other three that are created, it would put it many times, as it should.

Actionscript 3 :: Image - LoaderInfo COMPLETE Event Doesn't Fire After Load() And LoadBytes()?

Sep 16, 2011

I'm trying to load PNG images with ActionScript with a Loader object. This works fine for some of the images (the INIT and COMPLETE events are fired as expected), for some other it doesn't. I've read in this thread that a URLLoader might help, so I tried that, using the loadBytes() function afterwards. Still doesn't work: the URLLoader fires the COMPLETE event, but the LoaderInfo object does not.I've written a sample class that demonstrates the problem with two files (one working, the other one not).

public class LoaderTest extends MovieClip {
var output:TextField;
var loader:Loader;[code].....

All images were generated with the PHP GD library and I'm compiling with SWFTools's as3compile.The two images map_in_big.png and map_us_big.png are in the same folder (not allowed to post more hyperlinks).

Actionscript :: Switching Back Into Previous Function From Event Handler Function?

May 13, 2010

I need to return to my original function after capturing an event (downloading something) with another function. The original function needs to return a value, which depends on the downloaded data. So, I'd like to pause original function for the time needed for the download and the eventhandler function to complete it's work, and resume it afterwards.

The obvious way is to set a flag value (both the original function and the eventhandler are within the same class) and make the original function check it until the eventhandler function changes the flag. But that would be wasteful, and my AS is slow enough already:) [other parts of the application utilise some heavy graphics]. Is there another way? Like an event that gets captured "in the middle" of the function? Or some other form of flow control?

Actionscript 3.0 :: SWF Fire A Javascript Function?

Feb 18, 2009

I've managed to design myself a pretty awesome little conundrum and I know there are some kickass Flash peoples here I'm working on site for a friend of mine in class. I built a Flash website for them, but I didn't want to make Flash based MessageBoards and Blogs, so I built those in PHP. You can see the website at: [URL] I can simply link away from the Flash website to the Messageboards [URL] But instead, i want the boards to slide down OVER the Flash website using Ajax and Mootools and Absolute positioning the div containing the Messageboard. That part's not important, what's important is...

How do I get my "the.BOARD:" btn, in the Flash site, to fire the Javascript function that'll make the ajax call and slide the div out over the flash site? Lets say the function is called "moveBoard();" Does anyone know of a way to fire this js function from the CLICK of a moveiclip in Flash? Let me know if anyone needs alittle more information.

Flash :: Getting JQuery Function To Fire When Video Is Clicked?

Apr 26, 2010

I've set up a function to pause the sound in an mp3 player whenever certain things are clicked on the page, using ExternalInterface, but I'm having a problem in IE.The setup is this: I have a video page that calls up a list of YouTube videos using RSS.he most recent video is displayed on the page in a div called "display". Then all the rest of the videos in the feed are displayed as thumbnails and links...If you click one of them, then the main 'display' video is replaced and it starts playing. All of that works fine.hat I want is for the mp3 player on the page to pause the music whenever a video is started.The ExternalInterface function works properly. Whenever one of the LINKS is clicked, the mp3 player stops and the video starts, etc.

The problem is that I also want it to stop when the MAIN video is clicked. Obviously, since this is an external video loaded from YouTube, I can't access the FLA to add its own ExternalAccess code.I've tried adding an ID to the video object and then using it as the selector in jQuery to call the stopMovie function...no go. I've tried adding a class to it, and then calling the stopMovie function when the class is clicked. I've tried putting the click function on the div that the video loads into...nothing works. If I remove the main video and just have an empty div, then click the div, the mp3 player stops...but if I load the video into the div and click it, nothing happens (in IE...it DOES work in FF).The Actionscript:

import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
ExternalInterface.addCallback("stopMovie", pauseSound);
function pauseSound(str:String):void {
