View 4 RepliesThe keyBoard event listeners call on the rotate and unrotate functions and based on the key inputs(A and D) will implement either of the functions and rotate the image or return it to the original upright position. However, I haven't been able to get the function to work. When I press the A or D keys on the keyboard nothing happens. I even put trace() in one of the functions to see if the function will even be implemented but I don't get anything. I put in my Scripts below. Why are the functions not working? Do the eventlisteners fire or are there conflicts?[code]...
View 1 RepliesIs there anyway of checking which mouse event called a function, without creating another function to handle each buttons event?
View 2 RepliesSo, I'm trying to load resources, add them to a dictionary, and have a drawing method search through that dictionary and draw based on certain predicates. I have a function that iterates through an Vector of Strings, calling on an instance of Loader to load them instantiated as a URLRequest.
private function loadImages(urls:Vector.<String>):void
{
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
[Code].....
So the issue is: Only the first images in my Vector are drawing. Upon further inspection, I found that the completeHandler was only being called once (I put a trace in the complete handler to check). However, the Loader is invoking load everytime the loop iterates. I tried instantiating separate loaders for each resource, just to see if it would work, but I had no luck with that. Do I need to make separate loaders and event handlers? Or am I just not using Loader correctly?
i am trying to return an XML object, but having issues. The object is only created via an Event.complete function. I need to return the XML created from my loadXML function via my grabXMLfromFile function.
Code:
function grabXMLFromFile(attrPathToXML:String):XML {
var fileUrl:String = attrPathToXML;
var myUrlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(fileUrl);
[Code].....
Is there an event that IU can assign a function that is called when an swf closes?
View 5 RepliesI'm programming a little tank game (Check the attachment). The main class for tank is game.serovkonstantin.tanks.Tank.as and there are also 2 subclasses for now: Abrams and T90 which extend Tank. In my game.serovkonstantin folder I have a custom event (TankEvent), and the only event type inside of it which is TANK_INACTIVE.
I've added an event listener for MouseEvent.CLICK to each of the tank instances (inside Tank.as) which works just fine. When I add any of the tank instance onto the stage and click it, it traces the tank's name just like I wanted whether it's Abrams or T-90 depending on what tank I clicked. But the problem is that when I click a tank I also want it to dispatch my TankEvent.TANK_INACTIVE. The main stage has a listener for this event, so I expected it to catch the event and trace some phrase, but nothing happens I don't know whether it doesn't dispatch my event or doesn't catch it.
========
if you're interested why I need to dispatch this event, well,I suppose it will help my game know what tank to move when I click somewhere on the stage, and what tank(s) should be inactive,event it they all of the same type. I mean if I click one of the tanks it accepts all the controls while the other should be inactive
if I have an event listerner (mouse, keyboard, enterframe,....event) that is being triggered, and when it finishes its event, something that is able to detect the finished event listener and fire out another sets of event.
It works more like MOTION_FINISH in TweenEvent, but it is only available for TweenEvent only, what if I want to detect a mousclick, keyboard, enterframe or even touch event?
An odd thing is happening for me, my eventlisteners only fire off once then they seem to stop working.
This thing is a movieclip that slides up the parent movieclip and another movieclip within mc slides it down. They only work once.
ActionScript Code:
slider.up.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, activateSlider);
slider.down.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, activateSlider2);
var frameBoolean:Boolean = false;

I am currently trying my 5. workaround to get my menu done. . I want to move a series of 4 buttons up, after a click and when all buttons finished their movement I want the bottom 3 to move down again.
My big problem ist, that I dont get a check working to see if the function move() hast finished in order to fire the function open(). Is there any listener or so?
Here is my code:
Code:
//Setup and register with Zego Engine
import com.mosesSupposes.fuse.*;
ZigoEngine.simpleSetup( Shortcuts, PennerEasing, Fuse );

In an AIR application, I have a private variable and a setter:
[Code]...
The first time that I set "saveResult" the event fires. But it will never fire again unless I restart the application. If I change the setter to:
[Code]...
I rune the following code from TestClass:
ActionScript Code:
handler.loadFromFile("test5.txt");
dataset.generateComplete();[code]....
However, why does dataset.generateComplete(); get called before onFileLoaded(event:Event)?I can only assume that this is the case, as var pointList:Array = myHandler.getPointList(); returns Null, and when I run some tests with trace statements,I can see that onFileLoaded (event:Event) is seemingly called after generateComplete() Is the URLLoader process running in parallel to the rest of the application?
i want to know how to catch mouse event on sprite.I have created a class which extends Sprite and then tried to catch mouse event on it. but not successful.so is it neccessary to draw something on it to catch events?
View 1 RepliesIt works flawlessly the other way round. I can dispatch an event in a class (extends sprite) and my main .fla does catch it. The other way round it doesn't. To transmit a number from my fla. to the class (added as child) I dispatch an event, but the class never receives it. What's wrong. Initially I wanted to dipatch the event in another class, but as far as I understood, the event would never be transmitted from the other class as events only communicate to their parents.
Hope my sketch helps a bit. Actually the image (uiloader) should transmit the loading progress directly, so the loading status bar could change its width. But as I couldn't get this to work, I started to dispatch another event from the main document which placed image and loading bar dynamically on the stage. How do I need to add the listener to the LoadingStatus.as, so that it can change the width by itself?[code]...
I've a movieclip with 30 frames. At the last frame I added a Dynamic Text field in order to insert some text at run time. This movieclip is fired by a button, so I wrote this code:

I'm loading data from TextFlow to spark:TextArea. In TextFlow i have 'a href' elements. Problem lies with the address of the 'link' elements. Some of them will go outside of the page (these i will leave without doing anything), other will go to other subpages in my site(these one i have to catch and process in code).[code]...

Working on an mp3 player that i have cobbled together myself, bit rusty on the as3 so im sure it could be improved in many ways but the it works apart from that i cannot get the SOUND_COMPLETE event to fire at the end of a track, thus playing the next track. I have looked on this forum and others but cannot seem to get this to work

I am loading some SFWs to my main application then I lose connection with the internet...
I tried the following:
myLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, IOErrorEventHandler);
public function IOErrorEventHandler(event:IOErrorEvent):void{ trace ('Error, connection lost');}
I simulated the breaking connection by hosting the SWFs files in a network, when it is loading them I disconnected the network cable.
But the trace don't come out.
Is there a way for me to caugh an event that shows me that they cannot be loaded becouse im not connected anymore?
It it possible to catch a double right click event in Actionscript 3?
View 1 RepliesI embedded a small swf file into my MXML file and would like to prevent users from navigating to next page until the embedded swf finished (mean stop running)How can I catch the event when the embedded swf stopped?I know when the movie begins to play as the code below but I don't know how to get when it stoppedThis is my first ever try to use Adobe Flash Builder
Code:
<![CDATA[
public function loadMovie(event:Event):void
{
Alert.show("Hello1.");

I write a mouse_over event handler in a movieclip. But the event fired when the application run automatically even if the mouse out of the application.
View 6 RepliesI have made this short example to demonstrate some problems I'm having.

I'm an experienced AS developer, but this is something very basic about flex that I can't figure out. In the class below, I'm not sure why the function imageLoaded would not be executed when the image loads a url. Is there a race condition happening here? The application is completely loaded by the time this object is created and setPicture is called. How can I get the Event.COMPLETE event to fire properly in this case?The line and Log.info functions are conveniences for me, and they definitely work. Here's my MXML definition:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<photo:PhotoClass xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:photo="com.xxx.widgets.photo.*">

How would I go about as to addEventListener for a array object. I'm trying to avoid running a timer every x milliseconds to check for new elements in array object, rather trying to make a event fire when new elements are detected to process them and remove them. Is it possible with Arrays? maybe ArrayCollections? either is fine.
View 4 RepliesI am looking for an event which is fired (if any) after a chart is rendered (visible in UI) in Flash, we are using Flex SDK 3.0. We have to capture the screenshot after the chart is rendered, current implementation adds a huge delay in update_complete event callback, this is slowing down the whole job of generating images. I tried to use EXIT_FRAME event, but this doesn't seem to serve the purpose.
View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble firing or capturing the results of an event firing.
Here's the current code...
<s:Panel id="instructionsPanel" left="0" right="0" top="0" bottom="0" title="Register">

What's happening is that the user fills out a form in the HTML Viewer, then when they click the submit button I want to be notified of the page change.
If they land on URL A, then they'll be shown one message. If they land on URL B, they'll be shown another.
However, the event isn't firing.
I've also tried COMPLETE and HTML_DOM_INITIALIZE.
This is very basic and there are samples out there, but I am still struggling.
I need to fire an alert with a yes/no option.
I need to do this in actionscript.
Alert.show("Open new tab to search in Google Maps?","No places found", Alert.YES | Alert.NO, this, alertListener, null, Alert.NO);[code]...
I am trying to create an if statement where when the timer reaches 0 seconds it loads level 2. It isn't working.
ActionScript Code:
private var numberOfSeconds:Number = 10;
private var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000, numberOfSeconds);

I have run into an issue where when you use the onPress function, it won't register the second onPress event if the mouse doesn't move and the user clicks the same pixel. I have to use onPress, and am wondering if there is a way around this. It is just a little annoying that I have to move my mouse to have it catch that second onPress..
