ActionScript 3.0 :: Converting Movie Into Bitmapdata?

Apr 19, 2009

Is there any way to take a "screen capture" of a movie while it is running, and store it as bitmap data?  For example, if I wanted to store off "thumbnails" at arbitrary times through out a session, is there any way to do that other than some horiffic hack to save the state and position of every movieclip on stage?

Flex :: EOF Error Encountered While Converting Bytearray To Bitmapdata

Mar 18, 2010

I am using [code]...

In the 4th line in the code above i am getting "Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered." I checked the length of the pixels object which is 4 times the width*height of the rect object. Given that setPixels() functions reads unsigned int from bytearray and sets that value to pixels, I think it should work.

But I have no clue why this wont work. The pixels object is filled after RLE decoding of the data which i get from a server.

Is there any work around or any other method which I could try to use. The loader class wont work as the data that I get from the server is not in any of the recognized format.

Flex :: Converting Sprite To Bitmapdata With A Different Registration Point And Rotation

May 22, 2011

I'm trying to convert a Sprite that I have into BitmapData so I can perform some collision detection. There are a few things about the way the Sprites are used that is making this more difficult than I expected:

The Sprite itself is a container which holds another Sprite that actually has a box drawn in it. The inner Sprite is positioned negative half its width & height so that it can be rotated from the center via the container. The container may be rotated at any angle at any given time

So my approach thus far has been attempting to draw the outer Sprite onto a new BitmapData object with a Matrix to account for the difference. Whilst I can use a Matrix to make this work for one particular rotation angle, I cannot find a way to make it work for any rotation.

Here's what I'm doing to draw onto the new BitmapData:

var p:Product = getProduct(); // Product is the container with the inner sprite
var bounds:Rectangle = p.getBounds(stage);
var bd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(bounds.width, bounds.height, true, 0x00FFFFFF);

[Code]....

Translating by the same amount as the previous example will no longer work here, and the box will still be cut off. I've looked around at some solutions posted before or suggestions from other people but they don't seem to work for me due to my container Sprite and rotation.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Converting Animations Into A Movie?

Dec 8, 2007

I have a fairly simple particle script that exists in frame 1 of an empty timeline. As the script runs its course, new particles are created dynamically, and move around on the Stage. I'm wondering if it's at all possible to export this animation into some sort of movie format.The advantage of doing this would be to save processing power, I'd guess. I could have multiple movie instances of the movie animation playing in the background, instead of just running multiple instances of the script on the stage.?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Converting String To Movie Clip Instance Name?

May 26, 2009

Building a dynamic map that displays State Senate districts for a US State. Each district is a movie clip that I want to manipulate from a ColorTransform perspective on the flash map. The data that drives the map is being pulled from a php/mysql script. I have built out the actionscript up to the point of being able to trace the name and desired highlight color of the Senate district passed from the php (the passed name corresponds to the movie clip instance name of the district on the flash map). The traces work fine as far as the values of the data passed, one field is the district and the other is the color for the transform. The .as file compiles on the test, but will not treat the variable name used for the passed district as anything other than a String. I get an Error #1069: Property transform not found on String... Have gone through adobe reference pages and have tried every method of type conversion I could find to no avail. I get coerce errors on most attempts to force the String to be an Object.

btw, first I used assigned thumbContainer as the mc argument (outside the loadThumbs() function) and it worked but not exactly what I wanted... because I thought it is supposed to update when the movieclip is animated but it actually didn't... when I use a scroller, only the thumbs that are first loaded to the stage get the reflection..

Actionscript 3 :: Quickly Rotate The Pixels That Make Up BitmapData Without Using BitmapData.draw()?

Dec 29, 2011

I've been using BitmapData.copyPixels() to draw graphics onto a canvas (Bitmap).I need to rotate the resulting graphics without the use of draw() because it's vastly slower.How can I rotate the target graphic? I'm assuming that there might be a formula or library that I can use which will first reorganize the pixels that make up a graphic based on an origin (point) and radians.I'm pretty certain that I'm not capable of creating such logic, so if there are any known libraries that do this, that would be awesome.I'd like to achieve something similar to XNA's SpriteBatch.Draw() method, which accepts rotation as its 5th argument.

Professional :: Animating A Dynamic Textbox By Converting It To A Movie Clip?

Aug 8, 2010

I have been trying to create a die that acts as a 60 second timer in Flash CS4 using Actionscript 3.0. This involves creating a die and a dynamic textbox that counts from 60 to 0. Both of these parts of the project are fine, however I need to animate the textbox in 3D space to coincide with the die rolling. I believe it is not possible to animate a textbox (from online reading and also trying to do it myself by playing about with Flash) so I have loaded the textbox into a movieclip. As I'm having issues with this I thought it would be good practice to split the project into sub-projects in order to identify the problem. Here is the actionscript 3.0 I have used for the timer/countdown clock:

ActionScript 1/2 :: BitmapData.Draw With Masked Movie Clip?

Jan 17, 2010

I'm using BitmapData.Draw to draw a masked movieclip to a bitmap.Flash behaves very strangely in many different ways. To give a couple examples:1) Normally, the position of the mask is relative to the masked object. Ex. if I Draw() the movie clip at 10,10 and the mask's position is 20,20, then during the Draw() the mask will effectively be at 30,30. Weird, but consistent. However, if I Draw() the mask to another surface first, and then Draw() the movie clip, the mask position will be absolute (20,20 in the example)

Actionscript 3 :: Graphic Object BitMapData Type The Same As BitmapData Type?

Dec 29, 2009

The title might be a little misleading. Look at my code and I will explain

public static function loadTile(tileDir:String = "empty"):void
{
if(tileDir != "empty")
{
tPoint = new Point(0,0);
tRect = new Rectangle(0,0,30,30);

[Code]...

I am trying to do tiling with sprites. I want my tiles to be interactive, so that is why I am using the sprite object instead of using regular bitMaps to represent my tiles. You might be wondering why I wouldnt just use graphics.beginBitmapFill(tImage); and graphics.drawRect(0, 0,tWidth ,tHeight ); to pick out the tiles I want to use. Well reason being is because it turns out that drawRect() first and second parameters actually alter the location of where the actual sprite sits at.

So if I set the x and y properties of the sprite to x = 20, and y = 20. then I set my drawRect(20,20). it actually adds an extra 20 pixels to my x and y coords of my sprite. And I know the reason why, I just need to know a better way.

Converting Flv To Swf

Jun 3, 2009

I'm trying to convert some flv files to swf so I can place them on my online course. I'm working with Flash CS4. This is what I have done so far.

1) I embedded the flv files into a new project.
2) And then I just exported the file as a movie.

This worked well but only to an extent. There is about 10 seconds worth of dead time at the start of some of my videos, and they automatically loop themselves, when the loop feature is not on.

Converting .swf To .flv ?

I have created a slideshow in flash 8 for my website, though the file needs to be a .flv. I've read lots of similar posts, tried some trial versions of converters and .swf decompilers, and it seems that you either need to buy a converter, or buy quicktime pro to achieve this. I'm just wondering if there are any alternatives, or if perhaps some kind fellow out there would be willing to convert it for me? The .swf file is attached, if any passing samaritan is feeling charitable.
