ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating An Image Procedurally?

Apr 3, 2009

how to draw pixels onto a blank canvas, whereby I can set the exact pixel location and the exact colour of the pixel? Then, could you also show me how I could do the exact reverse - extract the colour of a pixel in an image given the location?Basically I want to encode some data into an image, save it as a png (I'm okay with the saving to png bit), import the image into another program and extract the data.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Executes In Another Class That's Called From A Dispatched Event Elsewhere Still Run Procedurally?

May 29, 2009

If I change the value of a variable that two different classes can see (in a custom global class, for instance), and then immediately dispatch an event that the other class is listening for, will tracing that variable in the listening class reflect the variable's new value? In other words, does code that executes in another class that's called from a dispatched event elsewhere still run procedurally, or is there some sort of asynchronous thing going on, where the class that dispatched continues on to the next line of code in its own class without regard for what may or may not happen in the other class?

Flash :: Client - Side Image Processing - Creating A PNG Image From A PDF File

Feb 1, 2010

We're building a web-based application that requires heavy image processing. We'd like this processing load to be on the client as much as possible and we'd like to support as much platforms (even mobiles) as much as possible. Here's the info: Image processing is rasterization from some data. Think like creating a PNG image from a PDF file. We don't have a lot of server power. So client-side processing is a bit of a must.

So, we're considering: Flash - most widespread, but from what i read has lackluster development tools. (and no iPhone/iPad support for now). Silverlight - allows us to use .NET CLR, so a big ++ (a lot of code is in .NET). But is not supported for most mobiles ( rumored android support in the future) HTML5 + Javascript - probably the most "portable" option. The problem is having to rewrite all that image processing code in Javascript.

Clarification: I don't need further ideas on what libraries are available for Silverlight and Javascript. My dilemma is choosing Silverlight means no support for most mobiles choosing Flash means we have to redevelop most of our code AND no iPhone/iPad support HTML5 + Javascript we have to redevelop most of our code and not fully supported yet in all browsers choosing two (Silverlight + Flash) will be too costly Any out-of-the-box or bright ideas / alternatives

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating An Image Viewer With Slider Bar?

Feb 9, 2010

Basically I am trying to make a VERY simple image viewer using a slider bar to navigate through the movie clip frames. I have been searching for hours for a nice simple tutorial or fla file but I cant find one. The movie clip currently has 8 frames each one an image, but it may have more or less.

I don't want to create movie clips inside movie clips; rather I have created a button which is fixed to slide along a 400px line. I would like to know what on earth I write to link the movement of the slider button to the frames in the movie clip... for example the first image would be displayed when the slider button is between 0 and 50 pixels of the line upon which it slides.

IDE :: Creating Image Gallery With Thumbnails - Graphic Symbol?

Mar 11, 2009

I am creating an image gallery with thumbnails on the right inside a symbol so that they can all fade in at the same time, and the bigger images on the left that also fade in. I can only fit 8 thumbnail images at a time, and want to have more than that. So I'll add an arrow below the thumbs so that when you click on it, you can see the other thumbs. I have the first 8 thumbs on the first frame of a symbol and the rest on the second frame.

My problem is that the symbol that contains the thumbs is a graphic symbol, so that the thumbs in it, that are button symbols can be clicked on. I tried using button and movie clip symbols for the thumbnails container but then the buttons (thumbs) can't be clicked any more. That was not a problem till I had to add more than 8 thumbs, cause i need to give the container an instance name, and graphic symbols can't have one.

Here is the link to download the .fla [URL]
In case I didn't make my self clear, what I need is to know if there's a way to have a movie clip or button symbol that can have buttons in it that can be clicked on.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating Video Player With Preview Image Before Playback

Mar 10, 2009

I am creating a video player that sets up a preview image before it begins to play. If I set the preview image in a loader within a container it works, except if I change the size of the preview.jpeg that is being loaded into it. It loads the image into the loader, within the container, but then scales the container making the image smaller than I need. I want it so that the preview.jpeg can be made by anyone at any size and the image be scaled to sit over the video. Unless the vidWidth and vidHeight are equal to the preview.jpg the image doesnt show up, just blank ??

Code:
var vidWidth:Number = 300;
var vidHeight:Number = 240;
var preview_Loader:Loader = new Loader();
var preview_URL:String = "preview.jpeg";
var preview_Request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(preview_URL);
[Code] .....

returns: ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
This only happens when I try to set the index of the preview_Loader? I need it to be the second mc from the bottom. I set up 2 functions to load the image. The first doesn't allow smaller images to be loaded into the container and make them the correct size. While the second makes them dissapear if I change the size.

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS4 Creating A Random Image Generator From A Live Feed

Oct 28, 2009

i am wondering if it is possible, and if someone would be so kind to help me code a scene where two thumbnails, side by side, are flipped up and down, and back up, each time revealing a new random image culled from a feed such as a flickr feed (or any others available, is there a random google image search feed that i dont know about?).if this is possible, i would need assistance in coding the script so that the flash movie is dynamic and pulls image data in real time from the feed, displays it within the two thumbnail cells, and for added headache pain, i would hope to also learn how to code a random image to be selected based on a visitors date/time stamp.i am a graphic designer with rudimentary knowledge of action script 2.0 (yikes!) so please, go slowly / explain yourself. i have searched the forum, but i cannot find any previous threads that combine the random image generator idea with a live feed (unless if i missed it, please point it out to me if you can find such threads).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating Flash Rollover To Change Background Image

A very good example of what I mean can be found here:[URL]. You will see 6 small thumbnails which, when you mouse over them, change the background image to match. My design, I want to be a lot simpler. If you look at the following image you should see what I'm after: [URL]. 5 small thumbnails on the left, when you hover over them, they animate and the big 'red' rectangle changes to display the image.
