View 1 RepliesIm trying to create a swaying piece of grass using the easing equation, but I think I'm getting it all wrong. Heres what I have, but it doesnt work at all:
[AS]
blade._rotation=0;
blade.onEnterFrame = function(){
if(this._rotation < 1){this._rotation +=(20 -this._rotation)/10;}
else if (this._rotation > 10){this._rotation +=(0 -this._rotation)/10;}
}

I am trying for moving a graphic across the stage, using a png image of a vehicle created in photoshop. Top to bottom travel takes 2 secs and stage is 767 pixels height.24fps is default and I have timeline at 48 frames long.Test movie sees very noticeable jerkiness in the motion, I expected one smooth movement up the screen, I sort of see two windscreens etc. Now I seem to recall that 25fps in video editing sees smooth motion as the human eye cant't perceive individual frames at that rate. What should I be doing to get a png to run smooth ?I tried doubling the fps and timeline length, it got a bit better, I kept doubling such and each time it improved, I hit the limit at 120fps. Its acceptable now but that seems wrong to have to do that, Timeline is going to be massive as actual movie to be 20 secs. Are there settings to be made somewhere to smooth things and use 24fps ?Png is 20kb, background image is 1.28Mb as a png. Envirographics

View 1 Repliesi wonder if it's possible to load an image to a flash movie from your local hard drive without uploading the image to the server?
eg: loadMovie("C://yourImage.jpg");
it works fine locally, but once i upload it to the server, the image won't be loaded.
the reason is, i want to build a flash site that allow users to create an e-Card using their own image from local drive. i don't want users to upload anything to the server.
I'm working on a project that demands a file upload for images. The guys over at development decided to use flash for this but they are not very proficient on the platform. Go figure... What I would like to do is get the image dimensions for validation purposes BEFORE the image is received by the server. I know it is possible to check for file size.
View 5 RepliesI'm currently working in Flash mx 2004 and am creating a version of 'what happened in history today'. So my final layout will have the following iobjects.
Heading: 'current date'
Title: 'On this day in History'
Text box: Which displays the right description from a text file. history.txt
Image box: which displays a pic related to the current date.
I know basic Flash but have been playing around for ages am having real trouble getting things to work correctly. The main priority is to get the text loaded based on the current date. I have an images folderwhere the pictures are stored with files names related to date i.e. 14feb.jpg and my history.txt file is set out with a line for each date. i.e., 14feb=Valentines Day etc.
This is my first post on this forum, i've just joined because i was pretty sure i will find all my answers here what i want is to save a movieclip as a picture so a client can dowload it to his/her machine.but it doesn't work, because i don't have jpegencoder library. i searched the net for it and i didn't find a way to download it.So, how can i get it and install it on my machine? I have flash 9 CS3, so is it already installed on my machine? and if so, how can i activate it?
View 8 RepliesI just set up a new copy of the official Adobe Amazon Machine Image for FMS4.One show stopper: it seems to require a license key in fms.ini, just like any other FMS4 install.The master log file has "invalid license key" in it. We tried giving it the "Activation key" no dice.There's a license directory in /opt/adobe/fms with 3 .bin files.We tried entering the path to that directory for the license no dice.The docs don't say anything about it.I've spent over 3 hours being transferred around Adobe and listening to elevator music(code).........
I just saved a file I was working on and Flash CS5 crashed on me as it was saving and now the file is corrupt and won't open (because of our obsolete file system).
So I recommend OS X users to use Time Machine so you always have a backup of the file being made as you work.
Several months ago I created numerous flash files that use a wingdings checkmark. Recently I had to update these files, and now every single one of them displays as the Arial equivalent (umlauted u). It shows as the umlaut in FLA and in SWF. Selecting the unlauted u, looking at properties confirms the font is set to wingdings. Copying a wingdings checkmark out of another app and pasting into Flash, it immediately overwrites to the umlaut. In fact, changing it to any font just makes it a slightly different umlaut.
The easy question is, "What changed between when it worked, and when it doesn't?" and the answer is I'm not sure. It's the same Flash installation, same machine, same OS, etc. I've tested this with co-workers. Those who open the exact same file on XP machines see the checkmark. Those who open the exact same file on other Vista machines see the umlaut. I have an XP machine to my left, and a Vista machine to my right, and I'm seeing both a checkmark and an umlaut off the same FLA.
i am trying to create a flash ticket machine where i want the user to simply insert coins into a box as a way of paying for a ticket.i have created two objects a "coin" movie clip and a "target" movie clip.what i want essentially do is, be able to drag the coin onto the target.Then for the system to determine whether it has been recognised by outputting a value in a dynamic text box(this i know how to do)Also i have given it a go and tried to drag the coin on top of the target but for some reason it keeps hiding beneath the target:[code]
View 3 RepliesThe purpose of this is too allow a user to upload an image from their machine to be displayed on a website. The code's pretty straight forward and i have it all working fine, but have come across an issue. When certain portrait images are selected to be loaded and displayed, they get rotated at some point in the process and become landscape? There doesn't appear to be any consistency to the way they are rotated. Some are clockwise, some counter clockwise.
The one thing i've noticed though, is that it doesn't appear to be an issue with images that have been re-saved (so simply taken into photoshop and then saved without any modification), only images that are the original source of an image taken by a digital camera? This has got me wondering whether there's a possible issue with flash reading the meta data of the source image? The attached zip file contains the source code and swf, a selection of images from 2 different camera's and a modified image.
Just to note, due to the dimensions of the images, in the source code the bitmap is scaled to 0.1 so that the result can be clearly seen. I've tested this without the scaling and the image still gets rotated. There's a trace in the Event.COMPLETE handler of the Loader.loadbytes() method and you can see from this that the width and height of the loaded image have been switched? Note - due to the size of the zip file (4.6MB) because of the images, i've put them up on my server for download instead.[URL]
I want to make a washing machine animation with adobe flash cs4.I have a basic image of 3 washing machines standing next to each other with the door on the front.I also have a very similar washing machine at home that I can video tape while it washes. I am pretty good at figuring out software, but I have not used Flash CS4 much,so I would like an expert to tell me the best way to go about doing this animation with this software.
View 2 RepliesI need the ActionScript (2.0): 1) When rolling over a moving image (like a filmstrip), I want the image to stop and then it zooms into a larger image. 2) Then when you click on the larger image, it goes to another URL page in my webiste.

View 4 RepliesWe're building a web-based application that requires heavy image processing. We'd like this processing load to be on the client as much as possible and we'd like to support as much platforms (even mobiles) as much as possible. Here's the info: Image processing is rasterization from some data. Think like creating a PNG image from a PDF file. We don't have a lot of server power. So client-side processing is a bit of a must.
So, we're considering: Flash - most widespread, but from what i read has lackluster development tools. (and no iPhone/iPad support for now). Silverlight - allows us to use .NET CLR, so a big ++ (a lot of code is in .NET). But is not supported for most mobiles ( rumored android support in the future) HTML5 + Javascript - probably the most "portable" option. The problem is having to rewrite all that image processing code in Javascript.
Clarification: I don't need further ideas on what libraries are available for Silverlight and Javascript. My dilemma is choosing Silverlight means no support for most mobiles choosing Flash means we have to redevelop most of our code AND no iPhone/iPad support HTML5 + Javascript we have to redevelop most of our code and not fully supported yet in all browsers choosing two (Silverlight + Flash) will be too costly Any out-of-the-box or bright ideas / alternatives
With the code below I created some imgMcA and some imgMcB then I loaded images into imgMcA ones. ImgMcBs have no image at that moment. So if one of imgMcA is clicked the image should be transferred to one of the empty imgMcBs (may be randomly) and if imgmcB is clicked later the image should move back to its imgMcA back. I could not find out how I can accomplish this.
function imageList(mcname, img, index){
var imgMcA:MovieClip=new MovieClip();
imgMcA.graphics.beginFill(0x000000);

All I want to do is move an image a pixel at a time to the left on rollover on a button.
This is my script so far:
on (rollOver) {
background._x = background._x -=1;
}
This only moves it once then you have to take mouse off then rollover again to move again
What i'd like to incorporate is a loop so ( only whilst the mouse is over the button) the image keeps moving to a maximum of 300 pixels then it can't move any more ( unless the right button has mouse over )
How can I do this: [URL]
I love the image moving in the background. show me where to start or some similar code?
I just started using AS3 and I wanted to make a simple script. Basically what I have is a speech bubble with text in it, and every time the player clicks on the screen, the bubble will move horizontally onto the screen. The problem is that after the 4th or 5th time clicking, the bubble will stop entering from the right, but the text will still change. Here is my script so far:
[code]....
What I noticed was that as the clicks increased, the speech bubble's x position was shifted to the left more and more each time. I don't get it, since I set the x position to 800 each time the function is run.
ok suppose I'm building a website or maybe just a gallery... the gallery has thumbnails, once you click on a thumb the proper image is loaded and displayed on the stage (the usual stuff...). Anyway, in order to open a page, when you click on thumb, after the image is loaded some sort of tween displays it on the stage. then when you click the close button, another tween closes it. But, what approach (code) should I use so that when I click on another thumb, the close tween occurs to close the current image that is displayed then the open tween plays in order to put the new image on stage?
View 6 RepliesI'm new to AS3 and I'm having a problem moving an externally loaded image within a Class. I'm just not sure how to move the externally loaded image.I thought of creating a Sprite and then moving an added child Sprite, to which I would then load the image.But I'm getting this error:1119: Access of possibly undefined property spHolder through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite.

View 0 RepliesI had coded a different file similar to this and had a movieclip move along the x axis relative to where the mouse position is.
The idea is the movie clip is a panoramic photograph (eg. 6000x900) and it would move dependant on where the mouse it. ie. if mouse is in the centre it will be stationary and when it moves left and right the image will move accordingly (faster when further away from the centre).
The code below works moving the movieclip's x position but when I try and do it with TweenLite (using the quotations for relative positioning) the movieclip snaps immediately to -107374182.4
ActionScript Code:
import com.greensock.easing.*
import com.greensock.*
[Code]....
There is obviously something fundamental I am missing but cant see it at the minute. I had this working previously but then tried to progress it and write my own class for the panning (that now turns out I do not have time for) but I saved over the code and cant not go back.
I have put together an example zip with a .fla and the greensock tweening platform.
I have a horizontal scrollbar. I want this scrollbar to move a movie clip left and right on the screen.I cannot figure out what I am doing. In one example I'm looking at, it has the script on the button of the slider:
onClipEvent(mouseMove){
_root.vPosition = _root.SliderMC.ButtonSliderMC._y * 5 / 6;
}
I can't figure out the math for my scrollbar. How do I find the fraction that is in this part of the script? The numbers are not matching up for me. I also can't get my slider to go left to right. It keeps going down. And my image that is suppose to be scrolling the with slider is not even moving.
im using the jpgEncoder class to create an image file and what im trying to do is save that to a folder on a server, then im going to read the contents of the folder back into flash. I cant for the life of me figure out how i get the image to the folder though, i know the jpeg is being created as ive been saving it to my own pc. Can i just send the image straight to a folder without the need for php?
View 3 Repliesthis is old and I used to know but forgotten over time. How do you scroll an image across to a certain point when a button is released?
Preferably with easing.
