I just saved a file I was working on and Flash CS5 crashed on me as it was saving and now the file is corrupt and won't open (because of our obsolete file system).
So I recommend OS X users to use Time Machine so you always have a backup of the file being made as you work.
Is there a way to get a reliable machine time that cannot be altered by changing the time/date on a mobile device or computer?I'm looking to find a way to see time elapsed in an air app where you can...
run the app
change the system time (back an hour, or change the date forward by two weeks, etc.)
run the app again with the correct time passed
how to implement this without relying on server connection?
I want to implement something similar to MAC OS X Time Machine in terms of having time-line on the page side and then clicking on a specific day will pull a page from the server.
I have good experience with Ruby on Rails. I'm less experienced with GUI design and was wondering what in your opinion is the optimum way to do something like that. Couple of ideas came to mind:
Several months ago I created numerous flash files that use a wingdings checkmark. Recently I had to update these files, and now every single one of them displays as the Arial equivalent (umlauted u). It shows as the umlaut in FLA and in SWF. Selecting the unlauted u, looking at properties confirms the font is set to wingdings. Copying a wingdings checkmark out of another app and pasting into Flash, it immediately overwrites to the umlaut. In fact, changing it to any font just makes it a slightly different umlaut.
The easy question is, "What changed between when it worked, and when it doesn't?" and the answer is I'm not sure. It's the same Flash installation, same machine, same OS, etc. I've tested this with co-workers. Those who open the exact same file on XP machines see the checkmark. Those who open the exact same file on other Vista machines see the umlaut. I have an XP machine to my left, and a Vista machine to my right, and I'm seeing both a checkmark and an umlaut off the same FLA.
i am trying to create a flash ticket machine where i want the user to simply insert coins into a box as a way of paying for a ticket.i have created two objects a "coin" movie clip and a "target" movie clip.what i want essentially do is, be able to drag the coin onto the target.Then for the system to determine whether it has been recognised by outputting a value in a dynamic text box(this i know how to do)Also i have given it a go and tried to drag the coin on top of the target but for some reason it keeps hiding beneath the target:[code]
I want to make a washing machine animation with adobe flash cs4.I have a basic image of 3 washing machines standing next to each other with the door on the front.I also have a very similar washing machine at home that I can video tape while it washes. I am pretty good at figuring out software, but I have not used Flash CS4 much,so I would like an expert to tell me the best way to go about doing this animation with this software.
I have a time line of 1441 frames my frameRate is 24 fps so it takes 1 minute exactly to complete the timeline animation I want to Display the Remaining time as file starts I need formula to place in ENTER_FRAME event which displays the time left

Actually i have both[CS4/CS5] in my machine, but the problem is when i start Flash CS4, it crashes, and sometime Flash CS5 also crashes. So is there any way that i can have both Flash (CS4/CS5) without any problem??
I have imported an 8 minute long video in flash. This video has 5 parts say part1, part2.... I have created 5 buttons on top of video that should by clicking, take the user to a particular time in video..... I dont know the code I should use on these buttons..... Also when no button is clicked the whole video will play in its entirety What i learn from some tutorials on net is that i need to use cue points.... while importing the video I have created 5 cue points in time... they are all labeled.
Flash CS5.5 has suddenly started crashing all the time. It's ridiculous.It's always about 2 seconds after:- Minimizing/Bringing forward another window.- Testing a movie- Opening/closing another fla in CS5.5This is with any fla file. It's incredibly frustrating.The window just tints white and I get a "____________ has stopped working", and my only choice is to close program.I am using Windows 7. am really shocked at how progressively unreliable EVERY Flash Pro has been since CS3, despite being an industry standard.It's been incredibly useful to me since I first started using it in 2004 (MX 2004 that is). However, considering all my other development software, it is clear that it is by far the most unreliable.It is unacceptable.
I want to run a sound once in a timeline but want the sound to stop at the end of the first run on the timeline but want the timeline to continue to repeat without the sound running again.
I have created a swf movie file that containes the movie playback panel & a f4v video & I have uploaded them to a subfolder on my server.The whole site has a secure connection (https), but the page that i will try to embed the movie will have a regualr connection (http).
The problem arises when i do embed this flash video in a HTML file. in IE & Chrome it works and looks great, But in firefox it doesnt. If i clear my cache (as if i were a new visitor to the site) and enter the page, the movie isn't displayed at all...is shows "done" in the browser loading bar.
After about a minute or so (which i assume is the amount of time it takes to load the full movie), i hit refresh, and the movie appears fully loaded.
The movie is currently embeded in my homepage (via Iframe - for site protocol reasons), and if it wont load immidiatly from the first time a user enters the site, many users will miss the video (and get a blank white box in the middle of the site).[URL]
I am programing a flash page but writing function to send two stings at the same time? In my case, I would send backwardH and backwardLI have has tested all three options, but there is no error but either backwardH or backwardL movieclipet gets affected, not both at the same time though I would like both to be influenced at the same time. For example if I click button_1 then movieclip_1 and movieclip_2 would play. And if I click button_2 then just movieclip_1 would play.

I have an object being animated, and I want to add frames to the timeline. However, when I grab the end of the line of frames and drag out to increase the timeline, the key frames redistribute across the new time span. How can I add to the time, and leave the keyframes in their original position?
I'm new to the forum and also to flash.I'm trying to create a 2 minute video. Can someone please tell me how to set the time.for eg: I want the first part of animation i createed to play for 5 seconds.when i give the frame from 1 to 5 it plays too fast(i.e does not last 5 seconds). when i give frame rate as 1second per frame(usually 24fps) the animation is not smooth:(. how do i set it so that it plays for 5 seconds and the next 5 seconds i want the remaining animation to play.
I have set up my buttons so that are each a movieclip with 'over' and 'out' states/frame labels. They exist on the main timeline. The actionscript controlling them is situated in a frame on the main timeline and the frame holding that actionscript is on the same point within the main timeline where the buttons are introduced. I am using actionscript 3.
The buttons have been set up so that they navigate to another frame on the same main timeline and on that frame is a movie. The movie dimensions are smaller than the main stage so the buttons are still accessible when each movie is played. The problem is my buttons are only working once - by that I mean they go to the correct place when clicked the first time, but when they are clicked again they navigate elsewhere. Placing swf file into powerpoint as per the correct procedure,1) developer tab, hammer/spanner icon, hit s and scroll to shockwave flash object, clear slide and draw out a shockwave flash object box, r/c properties, put path of swf into movie part of shockwave Flash object properties box. run movie.Movie runs fine, then when returning to that slide, or the powerpoint presentation is re-run, (there is a need in the safety lecture to rerun the presentation again and again) the movie is still stuck on the last frame.There is a supposed fix atSurely with big players on the field like Adobe and Microsoft there has to be a solution to this. I have created an Image component in flash which is having a "imageSource" paramter, where in a user can provide the path of his/her image(both from web or from harddisk). I want that image to be compiled with the swf. how can i do that?.
If I have a button on my screen that I want to make a box appear when clicked, how would I go about doing that? It also needs to disappear after 10 seconds. I am not sure if this is an issue, but it needs to appear on the screen while everything else is happening underneath it. So the rest of the animation must continue on as this appears above it.
Every time I try paste an image from anywhere in the flash file (all scenes) it crashes. I also cannot export to .swf.I tried saving the file with different names in different locations and did not work.I also have no corrupt font (tried looking for them after I read it in a forum)I really need a solution or find where the problem is to be able to continue what ive been working on.
I currently have a flv running on my home page which is about 5 minutes long. I am wanting to insert 'quick links' to specific times within the flv so that people do not have to watch it all they can quickly just click the lick and the flv will jump to that point.
I have a main movie (e.g called main.swf) and a couple of other movies which need to be loaded inside my main movie.Some of these should load inside a movieclip, and some should load inside a scrollpane. Now, whatever I do, i just can't make my Preloader show the amount of loaded movies properly.I even used the built in methods of scrollpane but it doesn't work at all.I use AS2, and flash CS3.The loader stops at 0% and after same time it goes to 100%.
We uploaded a simple flash site in URL... and when it starts downloading for few seconds it shows white space rather showing the perloader. and the background of the website is blue but it show white during this transtional time.
