I have a function that uses the ... rest argument as follows:

I call it using myActionObject.dispatchActions("all"); The problem is that when a listener receives the dispatched params object and try to access the actions array, it does nothing. If I try to trace evt.params.actions it traces blank and if I try to trace evt.params.actions[0] it traces undefined.
ex:

This is the output: actions actions 0 undefined actions 1 undefinedI don't understand why I can't pass the ... rest argument through an object as an event parameter. How can I make this work?

Is there any way to determine if a (anonymous) function has defined the ...(rest) parameter in ActionScript 3? I know there's the function.length property, but it only counts the explicitly defined arguments.

View 1 RepliesI'm doing a FB app with the Graph API in Flash. I've got everything working which consists in uploading some images created by the user in the app. The only part that I'm missing is how to tag these photos as with the Graph API it is not possible.
So I was wondering if it's possible to call a method of the REST API even though I'm using the Graph API.
I have to get Dow Jones Index using rest API in Flash. I found YahooApi, it works well on other indexes, but returns nothing on DJI. I have tested it here:[URL]Nether ^DJI nor ^DJIA returns Dow Jones index. ^NDX works well. How can I get this index too?

this doesn't work since the call is expecting each parameter to be separated by commas, like:

We are converting a Flex application to use some REST APIs.
When adding the mx.rpc.http.HTTPService class to the code, the SWF binary output grew from 175KB to 260KB. This is an unacceptable hit.
Is there any better way to do lightweight REST calls from a Flex app? Are we better off using an external interface JS just to make the calls from there?
The system is a Flex application communicating with a WCF REST web service. I am trying to upload a file from the Flex application to the server and am running into some issues. I'm using a FileReference in the Flex app to browse and upload the file as defined here: [URL]. I am then receiving the file as a Stream (shows as System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.StreamFormatter.MessageBodyStream in the debugger) in the WCF REST web service (using project type of WCF 4 REST Service)

I have a preloader that is about 150kB in size and it doesn't load completely until about half of my 6MB movie (yet to be optimized) loads. So by the time my preloader progress graphics come up, 50% of the whole 6MB movie is already loaded. Moreover, it's blank until 50% of the movie is loaded (the preloader just seems to wait until that point before it's graphics and actions begin)?
I have the pre-Loader in the first frame of the movie and the movie begins in the second frame. I tried using separate scenes (a preloader scene preceding a scene for the rest of the movie) and that exhibited identical behavior.
Question: Is there any way I can force my preloader to completely load and run--load progress graphics and all--before the rest of the movie starts loading?

Also - I'm using greensock tweenlite in the preloader, would that make a difference?
PS: When I say movie, it's actually a website
PSS: I'm using MovieClip(root).loaderInfo.bytesLoaded and bytesTotal etc...

I have an animated dropdown menu with 7 buttons. Each button slides down it's submenu.They're setup so that they open when you click them, but automatically close when you move the mouse out of the area of the given menu/submenu. If i permitted for more than one submenu to be open at a time, then size of the menu in total would be too big.Ok what I need is that, in plain language, when menu 1 is open - the rest is closed. But the menu 1 will close when you click menu 2, not before. OK, if my explanation was too lame here's the real thing, so you can get the idea of what i want:
View 1 RepliesThis code does what I want except for all the vibrating once the mc has stopped bouncing. I guess it's still bouncing. I threw in a 'delete.onEnterFrame' if _y==floor, but that doesn't give me the desired results. I want it to bounce for a bit then come to a rest with no vibration. I'd upload a basic .fla, but I'm restricted from uploads at work. All you need to do is create a 100x300 .fla, make a mc with the instance name of box_mc, place it at 10y, 25x and paste the code into the actions panel.

I am having a problem parsing xml data, I know how to get it into as3, and that is working pretty well after following a brilliant tutorial on kirupa: [URL]
But I am having a problem tracing the data that I want. Seemingly it is connecting to the database and is working in that sense but when I try to trace data I am getting a couple problems.
The first is that I need to somehow specify a value of a single item to get the rest of the data. Here is the xml:

I wonder if any body could help me. I am currently working on a flash presentation which will be running on a 40" Plasma Screen. What's the perfect size to set up my flash file. At the moment my file is 800 x 600 pixels. I only have one .jepg image at the intro and the rest of the presentation is vector based.
View 1 RepliesI want to animate a person moving off into the distance, but while I want the size of the figure to get smaller, I don't want the weight of the lines that comprise the image to scale down, too. I made this little sample of a person skating (poorly) away from the viewer, and I'd like the line weight to be 9 points in the first frame and the last frame. Is there a setting that allows me to exclude stroke weight when scaling and resizing an object?

The actual .flv videos have been uploaded to my website so the player skin is the only thing on each page and each skin is linked to the url of the video location. Hope its making sense so far. My problem is that the first video works fine but the other 3 videos do not play...the video player skin does not even turn up. I have also uploaded the "ClearOverPlaySeekMute.swf" video skin file onto my website but still does not work..Heres the flash website (its my own portfolio). View 1 RepliesI have a flex repeater for an accordion inside a TitleWindow that is quite slow, I've already set recycleChildren to true, which has helped, but it's still slow on the first load and causes the animation to stutter when I open the TitleWindow.
The repeater is just one part of what's visible in the TitleWindow, what I would like to do is have the repeater load after the rest of the content in the TitleWindow so the animation of the TitleWindow being opened doesn't stutter (the main problem).
i have no idea why the following code doesn't work.i'm simply passing and then repassing Shape objects as a rest parameter. when the objects arrive at the final function, they trace as [object Shape], but then on the next line i receive a type coercion failure, stating it couldn't be converted into a Shape.

I'm making multiple similar calls with similar results to one remote object. Because these calls are so similar and very changeable, I've been keeping the name of the remote method in a config file, and when I need to make the call I use getOperation() on the remote object, and call send() on the operation object. However, the requirements have changed so that not all of the calls will have the same number of parameters. Because send uses ..., will I be able to continue using the same formation and pass an array, or will send() treat that as passing one argument of type array?

I'm trying to extend the functionality (not extend the class itself) of the netconnection.call() function by enclosing a netconnection instance in a class.What I'm attempting to do is have a function that I have defined as "call" make a call to mynetconnection.call("", null, ...rest). For example:

I have tried repeatedly to do this, and it's not working. The rest parameter feeds the parameters into an array, but is there any way to undo that on the inside of the method and pass a pseudo-list of parameters to nc.call() so that it will see it correctly?Is it possible to duplicate the functionality of a ...rest parameter into another function?
I created the following code by following a tutorial, and therefore do not fully understand some of the concepts involved, just that it works. The project is complete except for one external link. The problem I am encountering is when I create the link none of my buttons work, and their hover animations all begin playing repeatedly without me even hovering over them.
