Feb 15, 2011

I have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file. When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline. The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly). Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?
I have been trying to create a countdown timer but i cant seem to get the time to display, the first time i tried only letters where displayed instead of the number and after playing around now I only get the :'s (between the numbers) to display and the occasion '0' appears?[code]...
I am testing files for a project and am wondering if it's possible to print out to the screen what time it was COMPILED, so I can then create a build number. I can't use get date or anything like that, becauise it will update at runtime. I need it to, once set, stay in place, so I then know exactly which version I am looking at. I could look at the dates of the files, but really need to get it on screen.
I want to calculate how much years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds I live from my date of birth and display this in flash (like live tracking). How can I do that?
I have a text box layer on top of the talk bubble. At first it is blank, then I click on Hello Kitty and a random phrase pops up in the text box from the array I created. However, when I click her again she will not say another random phrase. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Here is the code.
var myPhrases:Array = new Array(); // HELLO KITTY PHRASES FOR TALK BUBBLE myPhrases[0]="My name is Hello Kitty!"; myPhrases[1]="How are you today?";
I have a ComboBox in Flex with about 20 items. How do I display all of them in a dropdown with no scroll bar? Right now, Flex displays 5 at a time in the dropdown and puts a scrollbar to scroll for more.Here's an example:
http:[url].........How do I make the dropdown bigger in this example so it shows all 10 items at once?
I created a game in AS3 using a tutorial written for AS2 but I can't get the timer working correctly. The game contains 3 frames, a start screen, game loop, and end screen. the timer starts on frame 2, and counts down (tested this with a trace). When the timer reaches 0 I want to go to frame 3 which is the end game screen but my code isn't working.
var fl_SecondsToCountDown:Number = 30; var fl_CountDownTimerInstance:Timer = new Timer(1000, fl_SecondsToCountDown); fl_CountDownTimerInstance.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, fl_CountDownTimerHandler); fl_CountDownTimerInstance.start(); theTimer.text = String(fl_SecondsToCountDown); [Code] .....
Im trying to make a flash music player, and im having trouble displaying the length of the track and the time played. Here is the actionscript used, all it does is give me undefined/undefined. Im using flash mx 2004 pro.
I completed a similar xml searchable database based on this tutorial: http:[url]....I have a rather large xml that when you do a search flash times out and the user gets a scrip error,What I want to know is how would you go about only displaying/returning only 10 records at a time?
When using the Pencil Tool in Flash CS4 the line does not appear until after I've released the left mouse button or Wacom Pen nib. In other words you can write on a blank page the letter A but it only becomes visible after releasing the mouse button. It's invisible inkThe same problem occurs on my other machine with the only difference being an Intuos compared with Intuos 4 tablet - however it has same problem with a USB mouse, so it doest appear to be a Wacom issue.I've found a (kindof) fix.Open the Wacom Tablet properties panel either from the Start Menu or Control Menu - leave it open while using the Pencil Tool in Flash CS4 and it all works fine!I would be interested to know if anyone else has the same issue - might only be relevent to Windows 7 - 64 bit (i've not tested 32 bit). All was fine in Windows XP.Windows 7 - 64 bit (2009)Flash CS4 10.0.2Wacom Driver pro612-5_int - the new driver 613 made the pen go into Quick Point mode randomly so I'm using the older 612.5 drivers.
time-out feature on my timeline? I have certain spots in my timeline where i want a time-out to occur after 5 seconds of the user not clicking anywhere or doing anything. I am familiar with mouse-listener functions... but only used them for something that i was going to make time-out after an already pre-determined time...
If i create timeline slideshow with tweensbetween the pictures, how do I add music so that it ends when the pictures end?I read that audio can come out of sync??What if i use another program to create the swf like after effects that exports with audio? and import, would it lose sync then?
I was looking up the web today and couldn't find anything in how to time an timeline animation in flash.
Let suppose I have X number of scenes and each scene has a different number of frames running at a certain frame rate, how could I code a text box to tell me how long my animation would be in seconds?
I'm trying to externally load a swf at a certain time on the timeline. Right now I am loading it by using an on(release) with buttons, but I need the first to load as the timeline reaches the certain number. I'm using this code for the buttons.
on (release) { _root.empty.loadMovie("externalloader1.swf"); }
I'm not sure if I should use a Load action or what?
I have a button that when pressed goes to the next frame of a external swf file loaded into a movie clip. When the last frame of the external swf is reached, I want the button to go to the next frame of the main timeline (which in turn loads another external swf and the process repeats itself over again).
I assume I have to use an if/then statement, but what exactly is the if clause?
I'm a newbie to Flash. I have created a basic screensaver which has 8 different layers. 7 are hidden and 1 plays through as it is now. I was wondering if there is any way that on completing the timeline, it starts the timeline again and then shows the second layer and masks the 1st one. It would then do the same, masking the 2nd layer and showing the 3rd and so on.
I'm trying to get the time from the server (php) and then display a different flash movie (via either a different swf or frame on timeline) accordingly.
Unfortunately I haven't found anything that relates to this using as3.
I am creating a timeline and as you scroll the timeline, I want the links of the different time periods of the timeline to change color as the timeline passes that point. Here is the code I have:
The If and Else statement both work fine, but the Else IF statement does not work at all. The color will not change when the movie clip is between those two x values.
Flash CS4, I have an f4v vid on one layer and another f4v vid on a second layer. the films do not overlap on the timeline. I have a button to goto the layer with the second f4v. All works fine however when I go to the second fv4 the first one continues to play which i obviously need to stop.
I'm stopping on a keyframe, then using setInterval to advance after a specific timeout. The first time through everything works fine, but when the movie loops (user-initiated) and it gets to that keyframe with setInterval again, setInterval immediately advances the timeline and doesn't wait any time at all. The keyframe in question is coded like the following:
I have a label on my root timeline called "services". I have a services button inside a movie clip. How do I access the main time line to send it over to the page services? I'm using actionscript 3. Back in the day it would have been as simple as root.gotoandplay("services")
I would like to understand if such a problem exists in flash cs3 or is it just me.My problem is that while I try to code on the timeline in cs3 using as3 i hav encountered this issue of "null references" every time i change frames.let us assume I have 4 frames . withs buttons oR movieclip in each OF them. i have a code on all the frames each orresponding to the movclips present on that frame. so when i go from frame 1 to 2 and i have a code in frame to which is something line "mc.addEventListener(event, func)" flash throws an error of null reference .. which after a lot of frustration I realized that my code was executed atleast 300 milliseconds before flash realizes that there are objects on that frame. My fix was 1. timers events call the function or
Code: 2. stage.addEventListener(event,chk) function chk (){
I've been looking for a tutorial to create a timeline scrubber (not animating specific movie clips, but actually a scrubber that can move along different keyframes of a timeline that has a series of images on it).I found a bunch of these (scrubber controlling specific movie clips): http:[url]....but nothing that allows you to just scrub back and forth on the whole timeline in the exported swf.
