ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Text In External Swf Invisible When Loaded Into Parent?

My website is coming along nicely, just starting to add some content and to make it nice and easy for my client to edit their own content i thought I'd make all the text external.
Works fine in the external swf, when I publish that file alone the text shows up perfectly. But when I load this same swf into the parent movieclip (the main website) the text is invisible. I've put in a trace function and the parent MC can output what is in the dynamic box, but it's invisible in the player.

I have inherited a huge application (several thousand lines of code spanning roughly 40 files) to which I must add some functionalities. Now I haven't even started on modifying the code yet because of a problem when loading the Flash file. The Flash files represent a whole website "creator" or "manager" depending on how you see it. It allows end-users to add buttons, images, text fields, etc. inside which other buttons/images/texts can be added. Basically, it's some kind of WYSIWYG editor. I did not create this but I agreed to work on it for some time if I can get it working.
There is a main file, aptly named index.swf, which loads other files (the website file, or the text editor file, etc.) according to what the user is trying to do. If a user is simply viewing the website, then it displays the website. If a user is modifying the website (after authentication), it displays the website AND a management interface, which allows the user to add, modify or remove controls on the site.My problem is that all TextFields display their content (the text) properly when the website is displayed but they display nothing when the management interface is displayed. In other words, a user viewing the website will see all texts in it; a user modifying it will not.
The way this works is that the main SWF (index.swf) creates an empty movieclip for the website and loads the website (another SWF) inside it. Then it creates other movie clips and loads other SWFs inside them for the management interface.The TextFields inside the website SWF contain the appropriate text and have an appropriate font set up (I am able to display it using Alert.show) but their textHeight and textWidth properties are 0, which to me is not normal.

I bought some flash templates and have a big problem. When using some flash movie with dynamic text when I run it standalone - its working 100%. If loaded into main movie then static text,graphic, actionscript is working fine but all dynamic text is not visible. Something in main movie is making dynamic text invisible. Please guys some help will be great - I spend already 3 months trying to figure out problem but with no luck.
clientarea.fla is the main movie client area, praguese are XML config files for main movie -rename from txt to xml movieloader - is loader which have to be used to load swf to main movie

I'm having trouble getting an external.swf to show dynamic text in the parent swf. When I run the external swf by itself the text shows up fine, but when I try to load it into another swf using the MovieClipLoader the dynamic text doesn't show up.

i'm pulling my hair over this. i have sucessfully (verified) loaded an xml file and can trace the data i'd like to pass. i am loading the external swf into an empty mc called X. in the external swf i am loading is a mc and in there is a dynamic textfield. i give the content of the xml to the path to the dynamic textfield and nothing happens. trying to pass the variable with: target.text = content;
i listed the variables and objects in the test movie debug option (command+enter) and i can see the dynamic text box variable. then i took copied the path from the output window to my actionscript, replaced _level0 with _root but still to no avail. what am i doing wrong? do i have to publish the swf being loaded in a certain way? why am i able to look at the variables in the debug list variables and objects option, but not in the actionscript?

I'm running my head against a wall here and I'm not sure how to tackle this problem. Background I'm making some sort of movie player with subtitles overlayed on it. I'm using the root timeline for my movie timeline because this greatly increases development speed. The subtitles are created with the texttool, and I make them dynamic textboxes because I need to reference them in AS3. I cannot wrap them into a movieclip because they need to be in sync with the root timeline
The user should be able to enable or disable (effectively showing or hiding) the subtitles. The way I did this is by adding an event listener that listens to Event.Enter_Frame on the root timeline and a global boolean to indicate whether subs should be shown. In the enter frame event listener I search for the textfield by root.getChildByName (the name is the same each time) and show or hide the textfield accordingly.

How to make a DYNAMIC TEXT invinsible at the begining and toggle the view accordingly.The Important thing is - I need the text to be invinsible at the begining. The main thing behind my need is WHEN the user GO FORWARD and BACKWARD in the main timeline the visibility of the text box should be unchanged unless the user decide to change it's visibility by clicking "chk_tbtn1" button.
In the code below every time the user go backward in timeline, it makes the txt box invinsible.

I have a external swf loaded into a parent swf. It loads fine and plays. I have an EventListener in the external swf, I would like to have trigger a function in the parent swf. Is there a way to do this in AS 3.0?

Basically I need a dynamic text field to be invisible on rollover and when you move your mouse off it, it becomes visible again. I have it working (see code below) however when the cursor is over the field and the cursor moves slightly over the area (still keeping it invisible) the cursor flickers between the normal arrow pointer and the text cursor. Is there a way I can stop this? Is there a better way to do this rollover that would prevent it?

What is the best approach to add and remove sections if I'm using this method for example.

Do I add this to button click events? for every section? and a remove method for the other sections that are not in use? or is there a better way to setup this more reusable and checking correctly if a swf is loaded or not?

how to load an external swf into my main timeline. As far as I understand this main timeline is the "parent". Hence the loaded, external swf should be the "child" (a quiz).Now the child (a quiz) loads into the flash file and is played properly, but I cannot access the button on the parent anymore. Unfortunately, I really need the home button on the parent to exit the quiz and allow for new navigation within the flash document.

I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

If there an object is placed on the stage named square and with the document class Main an object was added to square with addchild,if I wanted the square to not be visible but still be the parent while the new object added to square was made visible, how would you accomplish that?
My Trials: It seems if you set the parent to false visibility and then try to set the child visibility to true it disregards that request because the parent visibility overrides it, so the entire movieclip object remains completely invisible.It seems you can make a child become invisible while the parent is visible, but I want to do the opposite.

I have a movie into which I am loading external swfs. this all works fine but some of the content is duplicated and where there is slimline text it shows that there are two layers. see the header on white here:
how can i set the alpha to 0 or remove the host movieclip, from the externally loaded swf. does that make sense? so once the external swf has loaded into the empty movieclip then the parent movie disappears.

I'm having trouble getting an external.swf to show dynamic text in the parent swf. When I run the external swf by itself the text shows up fine, but when I try to load it into another swf using the MovieClipLoader the dynamic text doesn't show up.

Sorry) Funny behaviour...I'm trying to load an external MC containing dynamic text (MC-Clip.swf) to a MC empty holder (MCimport) within my main/parent movie. This piece of AS is attached to a button (to call the dyn. txt clip):

}
With this, the dynamic text gets loaded indeed... but Fullscreen into the parent movie, and not into MCimport (where it should be). Now... I don't understand why, but the thing is that if MC-Clip.swf contains just static text (and change accordingly the text properties to static text in the holder MC), it gets loaded in the right place (MCimport) within the main/parent movie. (?!??!) And this is the piece of AS attached to the button (to call the MC containing the static txt):

I have a MovieClip that has a Dynamic TextField: let's call the instance of the field txtName. I want to set the text field on the fly for txtName, so I add a little ActionScript (3!) that does it nice and easily: txtName.text = "Foo";reat. Now why isn't it working when I try the same thing from a parent MovieClip which contains the MovieClip that has the dynamic text? Example:Child MovieClip with TextField ActionScript 3 in Frame #1:

when adding a mask to a parent sprite with a dynamic text field, the text loses anti-aliasing. how can i maintain the text's anti-alias while still applying a mask to its parent, and subsequently to itself.the font is embedded, and the text field will be animated so it must also be masked along with its parent.

I'm trying to take a variable from the parent movieclip and use it in the child movieclip inside of a dynamic text field.
The variable has a value that is taken from a php file.
I'm completely lost at the moment and know that my code is probably completely wrong.

I'm having a problem adding numbers that are loaded to dynamic text boxes. I'm using AS 2 (Flash 8). The numbers are loaded to the textboxes from a text file using a loadVars command. The text boxes have instance names of TELEMATICS and BOOK - I have a third textbox called (instance name) RESULT - the text file is called TEST1.txt. My problem is that after trying (and trying) several solutions in tutorials I am unable to add the values in TELEMATICs and BOOK to get a (sum) total in RESULT. I have a parent swf which loads many child swfs (though only one is displayed at a time). My intention was to use the loaded SWFs document class to retrieve an array of objects to be assigned a tab index, combine this with the parent's own array of objects and apply sequential tab indices to them all. But what happens is actually that the parent's objects are assigned an index, but the external swf is unaffected. In fact, the external swf retains its automatic tab indexing, when I would expect that having set a value for InteractiveObject.tabIndex, automatic tab indexing would be disabled.
I've seen similar tales elsewhere. Most posts I've read are wanting to load an external swf, give it focus and loop through those objects, then close the swf and return to looping through the parent. However I would like loop through all objects as one. including manipulating the focus manager(s), and basically fiddling with every tab-related property I know.

I have a class that loads data from a text file and puts it into an array called tdv.importedTxtArray (public var).In a separate class i have written [code]The infoArray does not then contain the imported text however because tdv.importedTxtArray is not given its popper contents until about 1/2 a second after the tdvLoader class executes (i.e: when Event.COMPLETE is run and the array is populated with strings from the external text file). Subsequently in the code above infoArray is set to a blank array.How can i get the code in my separate class to ''wait' until tdv.importedTxtArray is properly populated before accessing it.

I made a scrollbar, but now I have a problem, need to read the number of lines of Dynamic text field and if it is greater than x show the scrollbar and hide if is less. Like this:
