Apr 18, 2010My website is coming along nicely, just starting to add some content and to make it nice and easy for my client to edit their own content i thought I'd make all the text external.
Works fine in the external swf, when I publish that file alone the text shows up perfectly. But when I load this same swf into the parent movieclip (the main website) the text is invisible. I've put in a trace function and the parent MC can output what is in the dynamic box, but it's invisible in the player.

Feb 23, 2010I have inherited a huge application (several thousand lines of code spanning roughly 40 files) to which I must add some functionalities. Now I haven't even started on modifying the code yet because of a problem when loading the Flash file. The Flash files represent a whole website "creator" or "manager" depending on how you see it. It allows end-users to add buttons, images, text fields, etc. inside which other buttons/images/texts can be added. Basically, it's some kind of WYSIWYG editor. I did not create this but I agreed to work on it for some time if I can get it working.
There is a main file, aptly named index.swf, which loads other files (the website file, or the text editor file, etc.) according to what the user is trying to do. If a user is simply viewing the website, then it displays the website. If a user is modifying the website (after authentication), it displays the website AND a management interface, which allows the user to add, modify or remove controls on the site.My problem is that all TextFields display their content (the text) properly when the website is displayed but they display nothing when the management interface is displayed. In other words, a user viewing the website will see all texts in it; a user modifying it will not.
The way this works is that the main SWF (index.swf) creates an empty movieclip for the website and loads the website (another SWF) inside it. Then it creates other movie clips and loads other SWFs inside them for the management interface.The TextFields inside the website SWF contain the appropriate text and have an appropriate font set up (I am able to display it using Alert.show) but their textHeight and textWidth properties are 0, which to me is not normal.

Sep 8, 2009I bought some flash templates and have a big problem. When using some flash movie with dynamic text when I run it standalone - its working 100%. If loaded into main movie then static text,graphic, actionscript is working fine but all dynamic text is not visible. Something in main movie is making dynamic text invisible. Please guys some help will be great - I spend already 3 months trying to figure out problem but with no luck.

May 14, 2010I am trying to close on as I am attempting to get this incorporated into my website. It came with the recommendation to try the CS5 today to see if this will meet the requirement at the moment.There is a desire to take custom SWF files (I think there is something called Swish files too?) from various sponsors for advertisement purposes and place them on my website.The implementation was straight-forward to make them work through the webserver.I tried a custom example of making a button that upon mouse click would open up a new webpage in CS5 which did work for me.My problem is since the SWF files are finalized, there is no way to put URL information into those files.After doing a lot of searching around today, it appears that the best way to redirect a user upon click of a video is to:
1) Open up a new Flash
2) Import the SWF video file into the project
3) Create a Invisible Button over top the SWF video so when the user clicks, they are redirected to a specific URL.
But for some reason, when I tried to overlay it with a sample SWF file I imported, there was all this flickering going on to where both were made transparent to one another on the screen not to mention the video wasn't even visible at all.My hope was that the SWF video could be seen clearly while the button remained invisbile to handle the click on the video.Is there someone on the forum that is able to guide me fairly quickly with a fast-path procedure so that I can try this?

Im trying to do something similar and it gets to the second layer but then doesnt want to load the third inv-mc. Like loading an external swf to a container mc then in that same mc have another external load and then another.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Unloading A Loaded External SWF With A Close Button On The External SWF To Unload?
Aug 15, 2011[URL]I have: main.swf (a menu) and I have module.swf (content)If you navigate to Subsea Wellhead Systems/SS-15 BigBore II and click on that I have it load an external swf which covers most of the parent. So far so good. My problem is unloading the loaded 'Child' swf with the button provided on the loaded 'Child' swf.below is the code I used to load the file but I cant, for the life of me, find a way to unload it.

Feb 23, 2011I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

Nov 8, 2011I have a homepage with five "links" to each swf. Now the first swf I have a custom cursor that hides the mouse. When I click on that link it plays and when I quickly go to the homepage again it hides the mouse there when it's not supposed to do it.
Same with every other link. When I was busy with the first swf and want to go to the last swf of the five, my mouse just disappears! It is almost as if it keeps on "playing" without seeing the swf...

Jun 7, 2009I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

Mar 8, 2006 I'm having issues with my flash based contact form that uses PHP. My site is set up with a main movie and each page is loaded into that main movie as external swf's. The contact form loads in fine, it allows me to type my name, email, and message and then send. It even responds saying that the function worked and takes me to my success frame label. The email sends but when I open it up in my inbox none of the information is there. My labels are there from the PHP file but none of the information I entered into the form shows up. However, when I reset the paths in the actionscript and just view the swf online directly (not loading it into the parent movie) it works just like above but I can see the information I entered into the contact form, in the email. it works perfectly. so somewhere my actionscript is wrong when it's being loaded as an external swf.

ActionScript 2.0 :: External SWF Not Being Loaded Where It Should Be
Jun 14, 2006I am trying to load an external swf-movie into my main swf, thou the swf loaded isn't being placed where I want it. So I created a main swf and in that swf I made a new layer and made a rectangle called holder, which holds the different movies being loaded. And then I created a layer made a smaller rectangle called loader which is suppose to load the external swf, but the loaded movie isn't being loaded into the loader-rectangle, it's being placed somewhere else in the main swf, I don't understand why.

Jun 1, 2009I have my main movie, and from there an external movie is loaded which has a scrollpane on it. Problem is the preloader will not show when the external swf is loaded...when the button is clicked, nothing happens for about 3 seconds and then eventually the scrollpane comes up. I have the preloader on Scene 2, and it works for all my other external swfs so I know its the scrollpane issue.[code]I have tried have the "export to first" frame linkage thing but that doesnt work... does anyone know how best to do this?

May 31, 2010I'm loading an external .swf via typing the swf name into an input text field and hitting a submit button.
The swf loads fine, but I'm trying to incorporate updating a status text field on a successful load or if there is an error during loading.
I can't find my mistake in the code - to me it should be making load_status_txt display "ok", but the swf just loads with no status update. All the text fileds are fine, because if I code load_status_txt.text = "hello" straight after addChild(loader); - load_status_txt displays "hello"[code]...
