ActionScript 3.0 :: Earth 3D Globe - 360 Degree Rotation
Mar 17, 2011
I created a 3D globe in 3DS Max, put on render and would like to now be able to this object using the mouse to offend 360 degrees on one axis. Unfortunately, I do not know how to go about it.
I've created a 2D globe in Flash which automatically rotates clockwise very slowly using actionscript. On the globe there are sign posts which rotate with the globe, each sign post will link to another url. I would like to allow the user to spin the globe faster when they click the left mouse button while moving the mouse in a downward motion but once they've spun the globe faster it should then gently slow back down to its original speed.
I have created a globe that rotates with no problem, but what I am trying to do is to control the direction of the rotation based on the mouse position. For example, if the mouse is to the right of the globe, it rotates towards the right and if the mouse in on the left, the globe rotates left. When the mouse is over the globe, it should stop.
This works fine but now I would like to have another pointer but with an starting angle of 60degrees. Is there an easy way to ad a starting degree or angle value on this code?
I have a client that wants a product to rotate around its axis for a full 360 degree view of the product. The final view needs to be draggable - so a user can use their mouse to turn it left or right. I took photos of the product in 10 degree increments and created a movie clip - but I can't figure out how to get it so a user can control the view: turning the product left or right.
i want to rotate one line 0-180 how to set that target.i used this code movieclipname._rotation +=2;It is rotated 360 degree and looping.I just want to rotate 0-180 degree only once.
creating a 360 degree rotation like the one seen here: [URL] I need to be able to load about 24-36 images and have a slider to allow the user to rotate the images.
my boss gave me the difficult project. he wants me spin the globe.now i can spin the globe forward and backward. but has one error that the globe cannot play backward continuous when my mouse is move more than 1/2 of stage width.it's should be
This is really stupid and unimportant but things like this bug me and make me want to know why they happen. I made a movieclip named "earth1" and put an instance on the stage named "earth". If I refer to "earth" in code I get "1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: earth." If I use any other name such as "earth12" or "earthMC" it works fine. So I already have a "solution", but what's wrong with the name earth?
I am studying land surveying and cartography and I am doing my final project. I am trying to make a google earth like map in Flash.I already have the map , in the form of swf files.
are there any Flash/Flex API for Google Earth like the Map API? i haven't seen an API in Google earth API official page. or is there any way to use all the features of its javascript API with actionscript/flex.
[URL]I have a huge image .. about 16 mb JPG. It is a map of big housing society and i need to make an flash application that should work like Flash Earth to display , pane , zoom like Flash Earth. want to load that image in such a way thay it load in lower resolution and become detailed on zooming . What should i use to make that application working.
i am trying to make a new website where i want to add the map of the earth. My problem is that i want to make each country on the map, a different link. so for example if someone will click USA on the map, he will be redirected to a different page, relevant to USA.
I have done globe in papervision - basically sphere + material (image of political map) over it.Now, I need to make every country on my globe interactive, what means, I need somehow create event listeners for lots (at least 15) of small areas on my globe, and if I click those areas, something will happen (say, additional info windowwill come out)I googled a lot and found a lot of things describing some realted stuff (hotspots?), but since I am quite new in flash/actionscript/papervision, could I, please, get some introductory idea how my problem might be solved?
I want to create an animating sphere representing the earth but here is the catch I want the users to be able to spin it round in real time, what tools will do the trick?
i have successfully integrated Google earth with Flex using ExternalInterface.call("javascriptMethodName") method and writing the javascript stuff in the html file which embeds the swf file. it ran and loaded Google earth successfully.
that is actually a tutorial that i got from internet. but, when i tried to change the object, i failed to display the animation of my earth object. i wonder, what is the 'default' means in that code.
I am trying to develop a Flash globe carousel and I need some help in doing so.A normal carousel moves along a circle.I am trying to develop a Flash carousel that moves in every direction along the lines of a globe. You can see attached a normal carousel that I have created. I have tried to upgrade it to a globe carousel but I am having problems in doing so.It is not easy but I am sure that there are people here that understand trigonometry and can point me in the right direction.
I have a movieclip and when I do 3D rotation from Transform panel, It rotates perfect, center is in the middle of image, and when I apply mc.rotationY, rotation center is in left of the image, aren't 3D rotation from Transform panel and mc.rotationY from AS same? what's up?
I'm trying to do some augmented reality projects with flartoolkit . I can now put simple 3d objects on my marker and it works fine , but I wanna give my project some events that the user can interact with. I'm trying to trace the rotation of the marker. there's a container:DisplayObject3D which my application uses to add the 3d objects , I traced this :"trace(container.rotationZ)" but it's just returning 0 . I studied another AR application's source code and it was using the rotation of it's container object without problem .and I think I should mention that I'm using the exercise file of seb lee delisle papervision3d course from [URL]. anyone has any experience with flartoolkit? the main functions of my my code is as below:
Is it possible to have the child movieclip rotate separate of the rotation properties assigned to the parent? so ultimately giving the child element it's own axis?I've customized Lee Brimelows (gotoandlearn.com) 3D carousel to spin on the x axis to make it a vertical carousel. I've also rotated that by 45 degrees on the y axis to see all the items, and wrote a snippet of code to hide the left portion of the carousel. The entire carousel is contained within the 'container' movieclip, and inside of that are my carousel items (as seen below), with the larger item being the item in focus.
On rollover of the item in focus, I want to rotate it so it faces the viewer (as seen below),basically removing the 45 degree rotation applied to the container. The problem i'm running into is when you rotate the container (changing the rotationX of the container), the axis basically rotates with it, so when i rollover the next item 'in focus', the following happens..(in the example where it appears how it want it to, the carousel is at a rotationX of 0, so it works fine)
I've made a particle system snow globe and right now I have snow blowing across the stage, but I want to have the snow blow around only within the snow globe which is placed in the middle of the stage. I made a movie clip (area_mc) that I want to use as the boundary for where the particles can float.
I've got a globe which I'm adding markers too and then I allow the user to spin the globe by click-dragging it. Actually, the globe and markers don't move, the camera moves around them. Anyways, what I need is to be able to spin the camera around to a markers position when it's clicked on.
Program A has a cannon that aims to line up with where-ever the mouse is pointing, in 360 degrees, and fires when the mouse is is clicked. Program B has an eye instead of a cannon that should in theory do similar functions when the capslock key is toggled, but instead only has a 90 degree range of motion from the Right of the eye toward the bottom (quadrant 4 only). Where did the ther 270 degrees of rotation disappear to?
