ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Portfolio With 3D Panel As Gallery - Adding Preload?
Sep 29, 2009
I'm creating a flash portfolio which contains a 3D panel as a gallery which works relatively well right now. I wanted to put a preload so I put my preload code on the first frame and order to gotoandPlay(2) the second frame which works to but when the loading is done my 3D panel is totally ignored, the panel works with a class of course. Actually the problem seems to be more with the frame skip because I put my preload code in commentary and just having a frame before screws up my panel.
I am trying to preload images for an image gallery ina flash movie.
i have the images externally loaded so as not to bloat the swf but how do i start a preload for all the images when someone gets to the home/front page, so that by the time they get to the image gallery everything is loaded in memory so there's no delay?
i cannot seem to find any tutorial around this... when i click the next button, a new photo begins preloading (showing a loadbar or similar) *WHILE* the current photo is still in sight... after loading is complete loadbar and current photo fade out and the new photo fades-in in glorious color... something like the one used in [URL]
using flash cs4 the overall website is looking and functioning fine but i want to add an image gallery.I downloaded one which included .fla .as xml and swf files but i dont know what to do with them in the sense of adding them to a particular page in my flash site..
What I have: A scrolling thumbnail portfolio page that is linked to external xml file so the client can add pictures as needed by adding to the xml file. (actionscript from within Flash is enclosed just in a .txt document, along with the .xml file)
What I need: To add a description to each image, so when you click on the thumbnail, it loads the larger picture, along with the description. I have a mc called description_txt where I would like the description to load for each image, but don't know how to set it up to associate with each image. I have seen XML files that call to a different .txt document for each image, with the descriptions in it, but I'm not sure of the mechanics of it. . . how I should set up the .txt file, how I can call to it, and how to revise my actionscript to retrieve it.
how to create a xml photo gallery but somehow all of them doesnt discuss what i need to know. [code].....Especially i am interested in howto structure the xml for such an portfolio / gallery grid and having custom tweening for the thumbs to transition in and transition out, handling the click event for x thumb and loading the "big" content to a new container. Adding preview/next button functionallity to the Thumbnail Grid and for each "big" content and so on.
I'm working with XML and setting up a portfolio gallery. I basically want a thumbnail to be clicked and have an image opening, but i want the instance name of a button that is clicked to be stored in a variable that can be used when calling the images from the XML. I'm just trying to get the number that is in the instance name of btn2, and use that number 2 to reference the ID # in the xml file. I know there are easier ways to do this, but I didn't want to write new functions for all the numerous thumbnails on the site.
PHP Code: btn1. addEventListener(MouseEvent.Click, _onBtnClick); function _onBtnClick( e:MouseEvent ):void { var clickedBtn = event.target.name; }
Also the thumbnails are not being loaded through the XML, would it be easier to load the larger images without functions for each thumb, if I had the thumbs being referenced through the XML?
I'm working on creating a gallery for my portfolio site. I have thumbnails of all my work. I've turned them into button and made it so when you rollover it, a larger preview of it appears with a description of the piece, off to the side in a designated area. Instead of making my stage larger or creating more pages to contain all my thumbnails, I made a vertical scrollbar. The scrollbar works just fine. The problem is when the thumbnail is moved, the rollover that would be moves in relation to it.how can I absolutely make sure that any rollover I create with a button is where I want it to be, no matter where the thumbnail moves to?
I am trying to create a preloader that will preload the images all at once that are in my XML gallery. I can get it to preload the swf but not the images that are in the /photos folder. This is the gallery, and the photos are named photo1.jpg thru photo5.jpg.[code]...
this has been driving me nuts for two days. After rewriting my code several different ways to figure out what's been going on, I just discovered that when I playback an online copy of my swf file in a browser, that I get an entirely different result compared to Flash 8's Download Simulation. The latter is playing it back correctly to what I expect, but when viewed through a web browser (Firefox, IE, Safari all on Mac OSX), I get the wrong result. I'm using the latest Flash Player as of today. The problem seems to be related to the preloader section. My code is based on the preloader code as in the tutorials for the XML Photo Galleries on this site. I am alternating between loading to two picture movie clips (A & B) to create a cross fade.
What should happen: The preloader comes up on top of the current image and should then cross fade between two images, which works perfectly in Flash8. What happens in the browser when viewing an online swf : It often fades the current image (all or partially) before it shows the preloader bar and then sometimes fades or cuts in the next image after the preloader bar has completed. This shouldn't be happening since fading (see code below) should only begin after the preloader has been run and hidden.
the XML photo Gallery tutorial I found here on Kirupa I'm nearly finished with my project. The one remaining thing is to add an initial preloader to my over all gallery. 'm running into a wall with a preloader lag on the first frame. I have read up on the "1st Frame" issue...nd have tried to apply this fix to no avail. I have turned off the first frame linkage to all the library elements as well as changed the export settings to the 2nd frame but, still the bandwidth profiler has me at over 30K on frame 1 - with nothing on it... ?
I am trying to create a preloader that will preload the images all at once that are in my XML gallery. I can get it to preload the swf but not the images that are in the /photos folder. This is the gallery, and the photos are named photo1.jpg thru photo5.jpg.
From my somewhat limited understanding of the AS, the next image is preloaded and waits until the button is clicked, and then swaps depths with the first image... I am trying to use this gallery, but have the image on top (one) fade out, so it would reveal the image below. But would it be easier to keep the swap the same, but alpha fade the second image from 0 to 100?
How can you expand the XML gallery (from the tutorial here on [URL] to automatically load the next image, and the next, etc. while the current picture has loaded (and most likely is being viewed for a moment by the visitor)?
here is the link for the xml gallery from 2004: [URL]
Ive got an AS3 XML gallery thats all working fine, but I would like to add links to each image. Ideally I need to be able to add fully qualified links to each image individually via the XML document. my actionscript looks like this:
// delay between slides const TIMER_DELAY:int = 5000; // fade time between slides const FADE_TIME:int = 3;
I've created a scrolling thumb panel in As3. Everything works fine except that when you Roll out of the get bounds section it removes the enter frame function and stops immediately.
I would like that when you Roll out of the get bounds section it has a deceleration instead of a sudden stop.
ActionScript Code: var midPoint:Number = 400/2 + 90 var b = panel.getBounds(stage)
I'm trying to create a MXML component based on the spark Panel and I would like to add an image on the right end of the title bar, so that the panel will have a text on the title bar and a small image at the right end. I'm using a skin to define the colors, background fill etc. But how do I add this image at the right end of the title bar?I would like to make that image cutomizable so that when the component is inserted, either the default image is used or a new image can be provided.
I have a gallery of 30 plus images. The user will then use a scroll bar to flip through them. The images actually make up a sequence so I dont want to preload each one one at a time. I am also pulling in the images dynamically. Below is a bit of the code I am using. What I would like to have is all of the images preload on one frame and then once that is done go to frame two where I have the rest of the code for gallery manipulation.
I have modified hga77's gallery and made some changes with the style. I am still having some problems and need three things sorted out. Well, two aren't essential but the first one is.1. Most importantly, On Load I need the first image in the XML file to load in and have a border.2. Get the percentage preloader working.
Does anyone knows of a way to get the output panel in flash or the console panel in flex builder or flash builder, to format the "traces" with html or any thing else? for example:
trace( <b>brett</b> ); and to get that to appear in bold in the console window or the output window?
I have a very nice picture gallery made in CS3 / AS3. I managed to personalize it and all. But, I have difficulty with (or no clue... actually), how to add a precious and next button to it(image). This is the link for the zip file, containing all the neccesary files: URL...And in the attachment I pointed out where I prefer to have these two buttons.
I have a thumbnail gallery that gets its images from an xml file, at the moment if there are more than 8 thumbs they go off the page to the right, I'd like to have it so they continue to load in rows and columns but I'm not sure how I'd do this? I limited the images in the xml to 8 and duplicated the mc and xml to get the look, but it needs to really be updatable from the one xml file. Heres the Actionscript-
I am using a local computer and will only be running the flash app on locals. I want users to have access to a gallery which I built with xml and to be able to add to the gallery. I thought I could do it with an append child to the xml but flash cant write to file. I was going to use filereference and then save the file in the flash folder and add the new object to the xml file, but this is the wrong route.
I've recently followed a tutorial to make a scrolling thumbnail panel that goes up when you down and down when you go up. est. This has worked perfectly will the script below...However Im looking to make an alteration to this so that when you are not on "stoke" the "panel" stops moving. Its currently set to not move until you role over on to it originally, however after that when you are not on the panel it continues to move when you stroll across the rest of the page miles away from the panel.
I have a panel in my application. My requirement is, I also require a link, that is "Help options" to appear in the panel's header. In the left, we will have the Panel's title and in the right corner, I need this link. Is that possible?
I am new to as3 and am having an issue transferring a Flash Video Gallery into a seperate flash file.Basically I want to add this video player file into a separate flash site I am making but don't know how with as3.I copy all the library assets from the video gallery FLA into the other movie, put the movieclips in the right location and upload all the relevant actionscript files, xml data linked with the original video player file but nothing still shows up when tested live.
So I have a Flash CS3 based website and I am trying to add in a Flash Gallery.I designed the Flash Gallery as a seperate file and tried to copy the library items into my site file. I got it in, looked ok but when I ran the test it goes crazy and I get 7 actionsript
{Tweener.addTween(%2is is all the same on my errors: 1120: Acc0transition: "easeIn" } ); Tweener.add0mc, { alpha: 0.7, time: tween_duration,%2ion, transition: "easeOut" } ); TwTween( mc, { alpha: 1, time: tween_durat time: tween_duration, transition: "easeOut".ener.addTween( thumbnail_group, { alpha: 0.2, time: tween_duration, transition: "easeOut" } );[code]...........
I just downloaded Flash CS5 for mac which installed without any errors. However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.
I have a map in a panel. When maximizing the panel, the map remain the smaller size. How to make the map growing synchronizely with the Panel? When maximizing the Panel,I added Resize Effects. How to apply Resize effects on the Map when the extent of the map changing? It seems to me that I should dispatch extentChange event when maximizing the panel.
