ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Site On Runs Very Slow On The Server?

May 30, 2009

recently i am working on my portfolio which I am doing in flash cs4, as3. It runs fine on local machine but when i upload it into the server, it runs very slow. in face there is a section where pictures are loaded when a thumbnail is clicked. There are 15 pictures and it doesnot opens at all.

following is the link to the site that I have done so far[URL].. please click on the "projects" to look at the problem I am mentioning. the section"3d modeling is the part where there are 15 pictures and doesnot load at all. same problem with "3d animation" "video editing" works fine. it may be because it has just one video to load.

I have made a plattformgame in flash, and after I had published it I tested it (local) when it was embedded in a browser, and it hacks and laggs! But when I play it in the flash player it works just fine.

I removed all the heavy graphics, lowerd the fps to 30fps and removed all the code so now its just the bassis left (gravity, collision, key checking etc. and yes u should bounce on the walls giving a wall jump effect).[URL]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Slow Framerate In Preview / Runs Fine In Browser Or Through Preloader

Oct 21, 2011

When I preview my SWF from within Flash or run the exported swf outside of Flash, it has suddenly become extremely slow, maybe 10 FPS or something. But then it runs smoothly if I

- run it in a browser embedded in a HTML page
- run a preloader locally which simply loads the problematic SWF file; once the problematic SWF file shows up, it runs perfectly.

This doesn't make sense to me, and it's really annoying to be unable to just Shift+Enter to preview. Anyone tried anything like this before?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Projector File Runs Super Slow In Fullscreen Mode

Apr 25, 2009

I have created a flash application that runs crisp and smooth normally. However, when I set it to fullscreen using
Code:
fscommand("fullscreen", "true");

Then it runs slow as heck. My cpu usage shoots up to the 90%'s on all four cores. Strange thing is, however, that if I manually resize the projector chrome to take up the full screen size it runs smooth and crisp. It's not playing any videos or sounds, and there are minimal images. The swf file itself is 7 megs, and that's almost entirely because I have to embed the chinese alphabet. Could it be from running dual monitors? It still only "fullscreens" to one monitor's size, so I don't think its's twice the size without me noticing... I'm really not sure what's causing it, but it gets super slow...

The swf and fla files are located at: [URLs]
.fla is only 448kB, but the swf is 7megs.
Again, it runs fine when not in fullscreen, no matter how large I make the window, but if you play the swf file in flash player (i.e. not in browser) it will run slow until you press esc and exit fullscreen mode.

Movie Clip Within Main Timeline Runs Slow/choppy First Time Around, But Not Second Time?

Dec 11, 2009

I have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file.  When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline.  The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly).  Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?

Slow To Load Up (3-5 Minutes) When Visit The Site?

Jul 11, 2009

My problem is this: I built a Flash website, but it is painfully slow to load up (3-5 minutes) when I visit the site (via Firefox, etc). Once it does load up, everything is fine with navigation, etc. I'm having a hard time figuring out why its taking so long to load up on the web because, basically, I don't know how to trouble shoot.Details: the site is just a portfolio site with pictures and a few motion-things, no complicated animations. The swf file is about 9MB. I do have a flash preloader, but it doesn't show up until after the 3-5 minute "load-up" time. When I do the testing via Flash, its Ok and doesn't show the lag. But once I upload the website files and try to visit my website, the load time problem occurs.My thoughts: do I have to purge my Flash file/library of unused images before creating my swf file? Is there a problem with my html code in my index fil Just in case, here is the html code:

Media Server :: Slow Stream Start Times / Or Server Not Found With FMIS Upgrade

May 7, 2010

I recently upgraded from FMS 2 - FMIS 3.5.Over our internal network videos stream like a dream!However, accessing them from outside our own network means that they take about 20 seconds to load, or sometimes just get a message saying the server isn't found.This wasn't a problem with the FMS2 and there have been no changes to firewall settings or anything like that since the old server was up and running without problems.I have the new server set to use exaclty the same ports, but wonder if there are some other settings which could be causing this?Networking isn't really my area of expertise, and I have no idea where to start looking to improve things.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Site Slow After Clicking Various Sections - Fine One Refreshed

May 3, 2009

I am working on my new portfolio, made entirely in AS3. I am well aware that it is quite graphic heavy, and the videos will slow down some of the other animations. What I can't seem to figure out is: why does it load fine initially, but once I click around to various sections previous sections seem to be slower and slower. When i refresh the site it runs quickly again (except in FF on a PC, thats another issue I'm working out). Is it simply just a memory issue? Aside from getting rid of videos/rasterized images, does anyone have any tricks as to how to get it to run smoother? Seems to me that if each section runs fine initially, but only run slow once different sections are loaded then perhaps there is a solution. [URL]

Media Server :: Very Slow Connecting Loading And Serving?

May 24, 2009

We have installed Flash Media Server on a Linux machine.It has 2GB of RAM,Fedora 9 with kernel 2.6.27.5-41.fc9.i686, the install required a few packages (compat-expat1 was one) to be installed before we saw the sample page. The sample page takes a few minutes to load and opening the page to connect to the admin console is about the same.

This is currently on our internal network while we try and see how it works. Are there any specifc TCP related kernel tuning parameters (eg in sysctl.conf) which need to be put in place over and above the out-of-box configuration. Any troubleshooting hints which might identify the problem. The install seemed ok nothing in /var/log/messages and checking to see what is running (ps aux | grep fms) I see

./fmsmaster -silent/opt/adobe/fms/Apache2.2/bin/httpd -f ./conf/httpd.conf -d /opt/adobe/fms/Apache2.2 -k start/opt/adobe/fms/fmsedge -edgeports :80,1935 -coreports localhost:19350 -conf /opt/adobe/fms/conf/Server.xml -adaptor _defaultRoot_ -name[code]....

but when we clear our browser cache and go to a page it is taking forever.It is taking about 5 minutes to open up the initial page, but when it is open the videos all seem to come through fine.The server previously had apache on it but I removed that copy and went with the version included with FMS.

Flex :: HTTPService Is Very Slow By Sending 10'000 Lines Of XML To The Server

Apr 6, 2010

I have a flex app which allows user to create some content. this content will then be sent via xml back to the server:

private function saveBackXMLToServer():void {
var params:Object = {};
params["xml_file"] = XML_content();
http_Service.send(params);
}

My problem is, that the transport of the data this way is very slow... It takes about 20 sec for 10'000 lines of XML... How can this be done better?

I'm trying to follow all of your hints, but they don't seem to be simple to change. My code is done in a way that I can't get access to every Object, and save it. So what I do is to load the swf file with one xml, and return the whole xml after I run it. My guess is, that the time isn't spent on transporting those lines to the web server (this task gets done quickly normally), I thing that there happens something on the send function of the HTTPService that every object must get changed, before sending...

UPDATE2: I just realized that it is not a matter of the flex app it is a matter of the rails app. It receives a 700 KB String. I guess it is not done for handling such a object. How to transport it then? I tryed to work with the file upload but couldn't get it done... Error 2037 was occuring! I'll go on trying.

Media Server :: Choppy / Slow And Delayed Live Video Streaming

Aug 6, 2009

We have installed FMS on our godaddy server to work with and used live video streaming services. We are having problems with the video quality being choppy, slow and pauses continuously during live broadcast and motion. We can't figure what is wrong; video needs to be flawless and in high quality. The godaddy server is running:

Red Hat Fedora Core 7
Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.13 GHzRAM
2 GB RAM
250 GB Total Disk Space

I am facing below mentioned problem regarding video broadcasting with adobe flash media interactive server (Developers version). I am using DVRCAST for recording video from a webcam and broadcasting the same live. Please find video settings below.
width:320
height:240
fps:15
quality:90
bandwidth:150
buffer time:0.01

Our problem is that videos are not playing smoothly in application. The motion is getting paused and interrupted in time of broadcast live. I downloaded and checked the recorded flv files from server and found the recorded file also has same problem. So this problem is appearing in time of streaming the video from client computer to fms server. This problem is not appearing when I am testing the application in my localhost.

My code for live streaming mentioned below:
private function publishCamera():void {
cam = Camera.getCamera();
cam.setMode(cameraSettings.width,cameraSettings.height,cameraSettings .fps);
cam.setQuality(cameraSettings.bandwidth,0);
cam.setQuality(cameraSettings.bandwidth,cameraSettings.quality);

Flex :: Flash Runs Slower On Mac?

Jan 27, 2010

I was in the middle of developing a Flex applcation, and then I recently switched from Windows XP to Mac. My app is noticeably less responsive on my Mac than on Windows, and today I proved it's not a hardware issue, because I ran the App on my Mac and a Window XP on Virtual Box side by side, and IS much more responsive on XP. Things like repainting in response to window resizing, selecting/unselecting list items, scrolling up and down(I do have complicated list-item-renderers). Has anyone seen this as well? Is flex/flash just not as well supported on Mac? Or are there tweaks I can do to improve performance on the Mac?
