ActionScript 3.0 :: Image Link In XML/HTML Text Forces New Line?

I'm importing text from an XML file into a textField. It includes a couple of image links.I'd like the images to display next to each other, but Flash seems to be forcing a linebreak between them.Note I'm using (pound ampersand 10 semicolon - seem to get converted to linebreaks in this forum) to create linebreaks manually - not that it should have any bearing. Have tried separating image tags with nonbreaking space, regular space - also made sure textField was plenty wide enough. No luck.Is this just "the way it is" or is there some way to get my images to display inline?Sample XML:

I purchased a Flash template and went into edit it in Macromedia Flash CS5.
I imported an image into the library and swapped the image with an image that was in the template I bought. The image I imported into the library is is a little longer and wider than the image I am replacing. Yet it still fits nicely on the page visually.
When I upload the SWF and HTML for the flash site that I just changed the image in, the flash site hugs the left side of the display screen and is not centered. Also the scroll bar on the right is no where to be found.
I then uploaded the original Flash SWf and HTML I bought without changing the image, the flashsite stays centered on the screen and there is a scroll bar on the right. So I decided to make another image the size of the one I was trying to replace in the flash template. I swapped the image out after bringing the new one into the library with import. Still the same problem.
The original template said pre-school and was trying to change to Inspire pre-school with a logo. A picture file that zooms in on the screen.

I have made an mp3 player where xml data is shown in an dynamic textbox in flash movie. It is correctly showing the html links in text box.
But I want that when user clicks the link of a song, it should open the artist image in an image-holder. How can I do that?

I been making a histroy frame (similar to the one above) where people can see where they were on the site before they came to the new section of the site. I have successfully done this using html text and ASFunction and it works perfectly. The problem is when I add a new html link into the textfield the new entry goes to a second line. I wanted it to appear in one lineie. home > tutorials > easin menu...the script i used to add are as follows:

I 'm trying to make it so an image will scroll with a specific line of text in a text field. I know that using delta of the scrollEvent will give me direction but everytime i try to increment and decrement the y value of the image the image doesn't follow the line of text perfectly it tends to "crawl" if you will.

I had to do some maintenance on an older flash site I built (Flash MX, AS2.0). I have some href links in a html text. For some reason they are no longer working correctly. If you click on it, it will do nothing. If you right-click on it, a menu will open with options to Open, Open in new window, & Copy link.

I would like to make an input text field in flash as2. What I need is when the user write down an answer it will direct him to an html page I created. There are 3 answers and 3 pages, so they will write down one of the answer and when they will click "enter" they will be redirected. I understand you can do it with "if" statement but I don't know how!

When using a StyleSheet with html text in a dynamic textfield with embedded fonts line breaks are ignored. It is as if TextField.condenseWhite is being set to true. Essentially the <p> tags are being treated as a <br/> tag. If I don't embed fonts it works fine. Another weird thing is if I add an empty paragraph <p></p> between the first two paragraphs it makes any subsequent paragraph behave correctly.
E.g.
<p>first paragraph text here</p>
<p>second paragraph text here</p>
<p>third paragraph text here</p>
Displays as if there are <br/> between each one.
But
<p>first paragraph text here</p>
<p></p>
<p>second paragraph text here</p>
<p>third paragraph text here</p>
behaves correctly even for the third paragraph.
Here is the code I am working with (using XML as I am dynamically populating the textfield from XML). After reading [URL] I tried the same experiment using a TF drawn in the IDE, the results for each, even though the TextFields are essentially the same are totally different. Updated Code accordingly - just need a TF on stage, called "ideTextField" with font 'Arial'.

I'm having a problem with my imported HTML text - basically when I switch on 'Embed fonts' for a text field, Flash will only ever render one line break, regardless of how many </p> <br /> or whatever other type of line-breaking tag you can imagine are present.What this means is that all my paragraphs are squashed up into one, with no double line-break after the closing </p> tag, as you'd expect.I've used html text with css before and normally experience the opposite problem, whereby whitespace linebreaks in the imported text are rendered, but this problem is a new one on me.

I am working on a press section of a site and was wondering if this was possible? I have a texfield that loads in html formatted text for a notepad file. I have done this lots of times and put <a href=blah> on certain words within notepad to make them links to other pages.
For this one i would like to have the textfield with links, but when the user clicks a link, i want it to trigger something in flash (i.e. click here for more info sending a variable to my main as script that will bring up some other text etc).
if so how would i go about writing the link inside notepad? I'm thinking that i just need to know the code for combining the text links with something in flash as.

I am doing a Flash header where button text and links has to be easily configured by the owner, so i'm thinking the smartest way is to load button text + link from an xml file.There will be 7 horizontal buttons. The name of the button will be loaded into a dynamic textfield i guess, but what about the link?Im fairly sure it's possible to make an animated button and load an html link into it's Actionscript... but how?My XML would look like this:

I would like to show some images and text in the same line. The text and image is completely dynamic. At first I thought to use htmlText property of TextField as img tag is supported. Something like this:
var tf:TextField = new TextField();
tf.htmlText = "before img <img src='img.png'> after image";
addChild(tf);
But I found that the image is showing in the next line, not in the middle of two text segments. Then after checking the manual of TextField I have found that this is the documented behavior that the image will be shown on the line following the img tag.
So what is the best way to do this? Note that the text and position of images are completely dynamic.
I understand that it is possible to split the input in a series of texts and images and then position them calculating the text and images width. In other words parse the input ourselves.
Is there any better way to do this? Or is there any library available that does this parsing?

I would need to float an image (which will be the same height as one line of text) in a dynamic textield, and when the textfield is resized, the image should follow like its part of the text.(red picture is the image)Putting and img tag inside htmlText doesnt do anything.The best I could think so far (using TextLineMetrics or similar) is to leave a space, (or these dots (......) so that text doesnt collapse), and calculate where the last word before these dots is exactly from the top left of the textfield and place a movieclip on this position.

I have a scenario that I get an string with html data, this is not just html data it's an email (outlook) saved as an html file and dropped in the string.Now this string needs to be formatted to an html document and should be a clickable link in a datagrid. So when I click on the link, the HTML document should pop-up and should gave me a nice HTML page that is readable for the normal users. I hope it's a bit clear what I want o_0. don't know where to start.

I am trying to display am image within flash using CS3.
I have a text field with the following code.
feedback.htmlText = "<img src='Logo_small.png'</img>"
nothing displays. The image and flash document are at the same level, so that is why I am using a relative link. Do I need to use a full (absolute) link to the image?

Using Flash 10, I'm looking for a way to bypass the normal behaviour of images in HTML text, where the images can only float (in CSS terms) to the left or right with text wrapping around them.

I have an XML file using CDATA and trying to pull my image in. Ex:

<ingredients><![CDATA[<img src="test.jpg" width="304" height="466" align="right" />Ingredients: Water, Carrots, Celery, ....
My text field has all the ingredients it needs in order to pull this image in i.e. multiline, render as html etc.
When I compile my swf I can see that the text moves up and it looks like the image wants to be pulled in and yet it doesn't show.
Things I have tried: Variatons of the file. PNG, JPG, GIF Moved the file into the same folder as the XML file

What I intend to do, is to create a game in which a player can mouse-click in a circle, thus drawing an arrow from the center of the circle to the mouse_cursor. The length and direction of the arrow represent an acceleration for a moving-object moving in the scene. The script that moves this object should take the accelaration and calculate a velocity and postion out of it.
I would create such a "force-circle-object" and make instances of it in different colors, allowing the player to set different arrows as forces on the moving-object. I tried and made something like this in GameMaker. Now I wonder whether I would better do this in Flash. Can you recommend a tutorial site for this kind of issues? How do I create such a circle with drawable arrow in it? How to take the arrow-values and pass them on to the moving object etc? if Flash 8.0 (AS2.0) is still actual, or do I need an upgrade to Flash 10 / AS4? I am a relative noob when it comes to OOP...

in Flash CS4 I have static text like: Line1 and line2 It's in 9 point Arial Regular as a device font. If I set the line spacing below 3.9 the second line dissappears from the compiled SWF file. It still shows in the FLA file. The same thing happens at 6pt but NOT at 5pt or less.

When a Dynamic Multiple line text field is used in Flash CS3, it has a very annoying feature that auto inserts a line break at the end of inserted text. It also auto inserts a line break if no text is entered too.
I'm having a problem with this because the text is being saved from flash to a text file on the desktop. With every multi-line text field there's a nasty looking line break.
Any way of "turning off" this auto-line-break-at-the-end feature?

I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.
