I can make a flash movie (adobe Flash CS3) and use the flv, swf, script file, html file, but when I launch it from the web page it opens a new window. How can I launch a flash movie so that it plays in the original web page?

1) Load XML
2) Append to XML
3) Save XML using PHP
Well, why when I load the same XML file does it read the file without the appendend nodes I just added?I can open the XML file in Dreamweaver and see the appended nodes, but once I load the XML back into the .SWF, it clears the appended nodes and only reads the original nodes again..[code]My .swf is local at this point and PHP and XML files are on a server running PHP5.Apparently the PHP script is correct because it DOES save the file correctly. I can save as many <persons /> as I want. But when I close the Flash .swf the URLLoader reads the original XML data again. Not sure how that's possible?When I change the location of the XML to load into the URLLoader it changes so I know it's reading the same file I saved to..
I am trying to create a swf file from my original file. I have published swf files before from this file but all of a sudden I get a error. It says "Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. I checked the files and neither the destination file nor the drive locked. The file is named index and always has been named that. What am I doing wrong?

So if I ran it now it would be 1.2.129, then if i ran it again it would be 1.2.130
View 2 RepliesI have a flash application in which there is a button. On clicking that button, a pps file should play. What I did is published the flash file in a projector format (.exe), created a folder named 'fscommand' and put the pps file inside that folder, and tried to launch the file lying inside that folder from this flash file by using following codes:

Another way I tried which I found is:created a .bat file named launch.bat, put it in that folder & tried to launch the pps file via this .bat file using following codes:

But still it's not working.
I'm making an interactive cd in flash, I'm wondering how I can prompt the user with a way of saving video files (.mp4) to their computers.
Ideally they would click on a 'download video' button and then would be prompted with the usual window allowing them to choose where to save the file and name it.
Is there a way to do this within flash?
I've been using fscommand to launch files, can it be used to save files as well?
i have files (.pdf, .doc or whatever) that i have to save from a CD projector to the user's computer.My problem is that the saved file is not the same as the original.[code]
View 4 RepliesI'd like to draw key frames in Flash, just simple drawings/skelettons using the pen tool, basically to create the movement itself. After that, I want to export the frames that I drew as images to Photoshop in order to apply texture and colour, and then put them back into Flash again, without tampering with the Flash doc I've already created, since the animation is already done. I want the file(s) that I'm working with to remain the same files throughout the process, from Flash to Photoshop and back to Flash again, like the way InDesign works. Is this even possible?
If this isn't possible at all, I guess the alternative is to draw in Photoshop and then import the drawings into Flash, put them in order and then make any eventual changes after you've created the animation in Flash, this is less smooth though still possible. But here emerges (sort of) the same problem:
When I import images from Photoshop, create animation out of them, and then realize I have to make some changes in the original PS pic file I head back to PS to correct it. But it just doesn't work the way I want it to... If I modify the pic file in PS, then use the "update" alternative in Flash Library, Flash just tells me that the file can't be found, and does not update the image. If I choose the "edit in PS"-alternative from right clicking on a symbol that is in the library, the file opens as a .png file in PS, not as my original file! It seems to me that Flash is creating its own library, not using the existing document. Is there anyway to go around this? How do I make Flash use my PS file which allows me to change it as much as I want (as with InDesign)?
This is driving me crazy, what I'm working on is supposed to be full HD, I can't use a freaking .png file...

I'm an actionscript beginner and am trying to create a flash file with a button that allows to user to swith from viewing my movie in their browser, to viewing it full screen.I've managed to source some code from the net, and although when I click my 'toggle button' the full screen works perfectly...when I click it again the flash file returns to the original browser window but I dont see my movie - just my back ground fill colour.The code I have is as follows (and is placed on frame 01 of my actions layer)

View 0 RepliesI create a file in 5.5, then do a "save as" to create a new file based on the previous file. Make the changes, save it, publish it. Reopen the fla file, and it is not what I saved - it's the file it was "saved as". Needless to say this makes me very unhappy, as I must redo each file again. Sometimes that fails again! May go back to v5.

How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
View 15 RepliesI am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

So I read through Kirupa's XML/Flash thumbnail gallery tutorial and have since modified some of its actionscripting to display my online design portfolio. How do I make it so that 'LAUNCH PROJECT' is a link? Here is the modified Actionscripting (I have one of each for the 3 sections):

As you can see at the bottom of the actionscript, I added a gotoURL action, hoping that simply by making <launch> read <launch action="gotoURL" variables="http:url...> that it would become a link. I, however, have had no such luck. Perhaps I have to add something more. How do I make it so that <launch></launch> has the ability to link to an URL?
Which is preferred and why: keeping the AS in the Flash file itself, or linking to the .as with the Flash file. I've seen both done. Is it just a matter of preference?

I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?

In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger).Here is the code that embeds the ammap:

fancyupload - looks buggy.
phpfileuploader - looks heavyweight, and looks commercial (?) I cannot read the licence (you can download it but are you allowed to use it forever without paying?) plupload New version of pure javascript (no flash) Valums' ajax upload claims to handle file size limit and progress bar, which is quite suspicious to me: these features require to guess the file size before the upload, which seems impossible in javascript (look also here). Or can it work?
