ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Thumbs Randomly With Timer?

I'm trying to display a grid of xml images at random times, blinking. I'm trying to use a Timer, but cant get it to work on all images. I've tried putting my loaders in loop and push into array but still only one image is blinking.

how on earth do you get a timer to fire randomly? I've had little practice with timers but thought this would be a simply task to complete but cant figure out?

i've got a movieclip which"pulses" using the EnterFrame event, but would also like something else happen to this clip atrandom intervals using a timer. i've tried "timer = new Timer(Math.random() * 1000); but nothing - it just fires for the first time at a random time, then at set intervals after that....

how do you get it to randomly dispatch?

I have an mp3 playing. What I would like is to have a movieclip that is located in the library appear, complete it's animation then get removed. The movie clip must complete this proccess 4 times, randomly during the length of the song but never at the same time and not in the last 5 seconds of the song. BTW I can't do this manually by just firing it off a random amount of times because this code will be used with lots of different mp3's, so I need to use the dynamic data I get by retrieving the song length. I have the code working to retrieve the length of the song, and I have a variable that stores the length minus 5 seconds from the end, so I basically have the length of time I wish to work with.

My problem is making the movie clips appear 4 times randomly throughout that length of time. The code is below (what I have so far), the movieclip is stored in the library as circle_mc. The timer I'm using at the beginning of the code (to retrieve the length of the song) is set to run after 2 seconds this is because there is a delay in the music starting and if it did it instantly the number retrieved obviously would be 0, so I delay it by 2 secs till I know the song is playing. At the moment I'm just trying to get it to fire twice, at the moment it fires once or not at all.

I have created a MovieClip named "Target" and called it from actionscript. Inside this movie clip I have created an 'action' layer and written the code in it[code]...

Now I can get 10 animating circles in different places of the stage after every second. And every circles will leave the stage after completing the animation. Though I have given 'pink' color in that circle, that's why its generating with 'pink' color always. How do I change the color of each circle while it will generate?

I was working with the XML Photo Gallery Thumbnail Tutorial on this site: http:[url]....

And I modified it for my own usage, making it a vertical gallery instead, and had no problems until I came upon the thumbnail images. When I replaced the original thumbs with my new thumbs (that I sized based on width, as it is a vertical gallery) it got all screwed up. The images are of all different shapes. So when it loads up, some of them had huge gaps in between them, and others were even overlapping. So I fixed it by making the heights of all the images the same, resulting in a working thumb gallery, but now half my thumbs are cropped off by the mask. I'm looking for a way to fix it where I still have the same spacing between the images, and that they are all the same width, but can vary in their height. Here's the section of the code I am using:

I'm also trouble figuring something out from the same tutorial, that I want to change. The tutorial uses these "Next" and "Previous" buttons. On the far right hand side, the half-circle buttons are what I assigned this to, but I don't really want them to have that function. I would rather have them function just like how the mouse functions when it rolls over the thumb gallery, except they scroll the thumbs up and down when clicked.

I am placing thumbs on the stage in a grid and i have few categories of thumbs, by default first category loads, and then you can choose between other categories.

in this case, removing preloader on line 91 causes an error, but preloader is there, i can trace it just fine (and like i said, it works (no error) when i dont simulate download, or wait for all the thumbs to load before switching to next category, so the code must be right)

I have a gallery set up with three primary images. Clicking a primary image brings up it's specific subset of alternate views for the product.

I've managed to get the loading and placement down as I need it, but the images are not loading in the correct order. I've tried several solutions, the current one is that an array of each Sub Image is processed in order. It looks kinda of sloppy but image 1 loads, and when image 1 is complete, image 2 loads. After each image loads, it is put into another array. This array is used to resize and place the files. However when I do so, instead of the placement order being

item[0]
item[1]
item[2]
item[3]
item[4]

it keeps ending up like this:

item[4]
item[2]
item[1]
item[3]
item[0]

Here is the relevant code. When the following function starts with sArray, the items are confirmed to be in order.

I am pulling double duty with this question as it serves two purposes. I am developing a total flash controlled ad system for myself, but also need to use the same theory for a project for work.

Concept: I have a main movie (ad rotator system) that I then want to randomly load other swf's (individual ads) into this main swf after a set period of time. The random load I got set no problem. The problem I am having is to get it to move to the new Frame label of the main movie which then loads the smaller swfs. I am using the LoadMovie with nInterval time delay command in flash to load the movies.

I have a page that loads loads of swfs*. I'm loading in them all at the same time, Sequentially which is slowing down the intro animation. Is there a way to load swfs sequentially? Or if not load them on a timer (half a sec would do the trick I think)

Randomly Load External SWF's?

I need to call external SWF's so they randomly appear within my main SWF. When one ends, the next will start and so on. I searched the forum and found a thread with the code below and have run in to an issue.

Each of the external clips is set up exactly the same... same length, same tweens, etc.

The code below is sitting the first frame, on the top layer within my main SWF:

The main movie is one frame long and has three layers. The top layer has the Action Script (above), the bottom layer has my background image, and the middle layer holds the empty movie clip named mtClip

When loaded to the server, the movie plays and one of the external SWF's will load. When it ends, I need one of the other SWF's to load. What happens is that rather than randomly playing one of the other SWF's, it repeats the original external SWF. If I refresh the main SWF, it randomly selects one of the external SWF's and it will constantly repeat.

The external SWF's have no Action Script. I tried it with putting a Stop on the last frame, but that didn't help.

I had an idea I would like to incorporate into my site, and sure that Flash can accomodate, but what better place to check!? Say I have a mc_1, mc_2, mc_3, mc_4, and mc_5 all are basically the same information, just varied lead in animations. Is there a code that I can call to randomly choose among those when the site is loaded? Pretty vague I know, but right now I am adding them via "addChild," so would there be something I could use to accomplish this?

I have a project I'm working on that requires one of three modules to load randomly, but then play in order in rotation. So I've set up a timeline with labels to jump from one to the next in sequential order. What I am trying to do is after the preloader loads, the timeline would randomly jump to one of those three locations on the main timeline, specified by a label.

I'm would like to use the UILoader to randomly load an image from an array according to the day of the week. The attached FLA file is in AS2, it is exactly what I would like to do but now in AS3. I've been able to successfully trace the date using:

In AS2 I used this the loadMovie function to randomly display SWF's in the movieClip. From what I can tell loadMovie is not an option in AS3 making me think that using the UILoader may be a good solution.This is what my code looks like in AS2 (also attached the FLA file):

Randomly Dynamically Load Images Into 4 Movie Clips

I am designing a website and have for locations I would like to load a random image from the same folder. Goals we'd like to accomplish with this:

1. We want images to load randomly from same folder
2. We don't want any duplicate images on the page at any one time
3. We have different size movie clips they are loading into.

Is there a way to accomplish this? What script do I use to resize the .jpg to fit whatever movieclip it's loading into and how to I tell it not to load an image that is already loaded in another movieclip?

I am trying to make what I thought would be a very simple random picture display. I have five movie clips named myClip1, myClip2, etc. All are on the first frame of the timeline. Each has this as a movie clip action:

When I test this the background (an image) displays but nothing else, the movie clips stay transparent. I have tried several variations without any luck.I am mainly an asp and net developer that uses flash periodically so be gentle.
