Oct 27, 2009CS3 -> CS4 transition newb here who's getting increasingly frustrated with the new motion tweens; however, for this project, I'm working in a 3D space and require using them, so I'm dealing with this bit by painful bit. I found the tip about Split Motion, but first question: how do you apply Split Motion across several layers at the same time? I have six different tweens, and in CS3, I used to be able to shift-click or click-drag across frames and apply a command to all of them (for example, hit F5 to add frames), but Split Motion is requiring me to right-click on each and every layer. This is really laborious, and I worrySimilarly, I tend to add custom keyboard shortcuts to each of my Flash versions for commands I use frequently and don't want to right-click a menu for (such as "add motion tween") - however, I can't seem to find where to create a custom shortcut for either that, or Split Motion.

Dec 22, 2009i have created a program in flash to run on several touchscreen kiosks here in my city. its a simple flash presentation and uses basic actionscript 2.0 for navigation etc. and its all working fine. now, the organizers want me to create a hit counter that can track how many people are using the kisosk services. so basically, each time someone hits the home button, a "hit" should be generated.
now i know of some scripts that use flash and PHP that can do that, but unfortunately i dont know how i can use it. The program that runs on the kisosks is just a flash file rendered as an exe and installed on the machines. i know basic PHP but as far as i am aware of, u need to run PHP through some HTML pages to be able to use it. besides, you would also need a php server to be able to get the hit counter working.
so my question is, is there a way to have the hits generated and stored in some kind of file (text, or xml or anything)? it has to be generated from within the swf file and stored to the (text, XML?) file.
Flash - Make Transparent Background In Text Fields?
Jan 4, 2012Say, i have a text field with some text in it, and i want to make it have a backgruond with alpha value (as in partially transparent, not sure how to make it sound good ^^). This text field reacts to mouse events, such as clicks and rolls out/over, and each event changes the background color.
I've done some digging and ran across flash.text.TextField.backgroundColor and flash.text.TextField.background properties of text fields. They're cool, but not enough to solve the problem. And obviously, if I change the text field's alpha value, the text will also become transparent.
I know I can create a movieclip below the text field and alter its properties to acheive my goal, but I'm wondering if there is a simpler way.

I have a Flash presentation that is built in Papervision 3D and I want to put it on the Xoom tablet. Are there different event handlers to make the touchscreen work or will normal button events port correctly?
I have exported the application into an Air Android application.. I'm waiting for my Xoom tablet to test it out.

the code above should display "a" in a dynamic text box when you press "a" but how about backspace? I thought that the code below would work but it deletes the whole entry rather than a character.

May 24, 2011I would like to learn how to create a flash keyboard that will be used in a touchscreen machine. Currently I have given myself some basic feature idea for the keyboard but have not start coding it yet since I'm not familiar with flash, they should be able to switch textboxes and have backspace button, a tab button, a spacebar button. Is anyone willing to show me a tutorial or a sample code for a head start?EDIT: I have found one AS3 keyboard,the textbox and keyboard are coded out but I need multiple textboxes.How can I drag and drop multiple textbox and keyboard into the screen instead?(because i need to have like 3 textboxes and a keyboard that I can design it, with the coded keyboard, can I change the design/color of the keyboard?)

Aug 3, 2010We have create a flash file for both Touchscreen TV and Website.The document frame is is 1920x1080 however we would like to export the project so it can be seen on the website at the correct compression.Is there a way to export the SWF to the required 945x532.I know how to export it in the HTML however this reads the same SWF that is still too large in file size (not web friendly).I could pull the compression down to say 10% before exporting the SWF however there must be a better method.

Feb 5, 2011This one's been irking me for a while. When I'm using the mouse scroll wheel to scroll up and down in a webpage, and a flash movie comes into the path of the cursor, the scroll wheel stops working. Also, when a flash movie has focus, you can't use browser shortcuts like Ctrl + L or Ctrl + R.
I'm writing a flex application now and I'd like to find a solution, so that at least my users aren't plagued by this inconsistency of the user interface behavior.
I should think there would be a way to tell flash to propagate such events as the mouse scroll wheel and keyboard input back up to the browser unless they occur in an element for which they are useful, like in a flex textarea. I can't find any solutions out there though, nor even anyone talking about it.
Specifically, how can I make it so that:
When the user is scrolling with the mouse, the browser scrolls unless the mouse is over a flex container with scrollbar, or another component that wants to scroll.When the user presses a button or combination of buttons on the keyboard, it will be propagated to the browser unless there is an active keyboard listener, or the cursor is in a text field, etc.

Apr 8, 2011What I have is two buttons that when clicked they add an input text field and a third button that puts a text field and gives you the total value of the two input fields after the user inputs some numbers, the problem is that the buttons adding the input fields can be clicked multiple times and of course adding a new input field each time they are clicked and as you can imagine when I try to add the values I only get the result of the last two fields added.
How can I tweak my code so it adds-up the total value of all input fields on the stage?

Feb 23, 2010I am working on a program that has several text fields and I need to control them all very simply by using actionscript. I have an idea how to do it, I just don't know if it is possible. Here is the basic idea:
I have 20 sets of text fields with 3 text field each. The first set are named "firstNumber1", "secondNumber1", and "total1"; the second set are named "firstNumber2", "secondNumber2", and "total2"; and so on an so forth. What I want them to do is add the first number and second number to reach the total. Rather than writing this formula 20 times

I would like to do them in the following manner:

The problem I face is that Flash doesn't recognize what I am trying to do. I have tried several variations, but I haven't figured out how to write the command so that it will do them all with one group of code.

Keyboard Nav Through Multiple Movieclips?
Aug 17, 2011add some functionality to the presentation template. Currently you can only move from one page to the next. So if I want an animation on a page, no problem I'll just add a stop script at the end. No big deal. But if I want Multiple animations (just trying to replace powerpoint here) then I get into trouble.
Each page is one frame on the main timeline. Hitting left/right goes to the next frame, unless the movieclip on that frame also has additional frames. Then it should move to the next frame within that, etc.
I can't figure out that if statement though. I had another bit of script going on my first go, but ran into some issues so thought it best to create all of the scripting on the main timeline. Initially I created a boolean variable, then ran an if statement. Inside of a movieclip I switched the boolean and used the same keyboard interaction to walk through it. On the last frame of that movieclip, I switched the boolean back so the main timeline interaction kicked in again. The problem is, that's a Lot of copying and pasting of that code, and I can't figure out how to go through more than one parent. I just couldn't get it to work.
Should I just be building this thing in a Completely different way? I need to make something, so for now I'm splitting up each frame that I need different animations on and creating a different movieclip for each section. Ideally that would be contained in one movieclip's timeline. Currently one each animation's interaction will be on a timeline. So I have to duplicate the slide to add an animation. So if I have a title come in, then a pie chart, then an image, then another piece of text, I'll be stuck with 4 separate movie clips.
I want something like:if current movie clip current frame is == total frames, clicking right goes to next frame, else go to next frame of it's parent's timeline.I say the parent and not stage because the way you have to set up transitions only works within a movieclip. So you have to set up the entire slideshow within a movieclip if you want transitions between each slide. Right?
I don't care about transitions for now, but will want control of those eventually.

The code is writen in AS2 and Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and tested with Flash Player 10.
When I ran it in Flash Player 10, I only saw message2 displayed on the stage. When I stepped through the app in Adobe Flash Professional CS5, I found that as soon as message2 text field was created, message1 text field which was being displayed on the stage disppeared.
