ActionScript 3.0 :: Making Buttons To Link With URL?
Apr 20, 2011
Im trying to make two buttons for my artefact to link to facebook and twitter, but it doesn't work. I've got no error messages or anything, I just click the button and it doesn't do anything
The code is the following:
BTN_FACEBOOK.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, FacebookClick);
function FacebookClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
var getFacebook:URLRequest = new URLRequest("[URL]");
navigateToURL(getFacebook);
}
BTN_TWITTER.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, TwitterClick);
function TwitterClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
var getTwitter:URLRequest = new URLRequest("[URL]");
navigateToURL(getTwitter);
}
I am pretty rusty when it comes to action script. I am using CS3 and want to have an XML file that has the links likeimported into the flash so when a button is clicked it will go there...I have looked at numerous examples but all are too complicated for what i want to do.I will pay someone via paypal if they want to do this quick fix for me... I can send the file... should be strait forward for someone knowing waht they are doing
I am trying to figure out how to make buttons on my flash file link to URLs that appear in a window of fixed dimensions (with scroller bars) next to my Flash window. I am aware that Adobe has instructions for creating pop-up browser windows through Flash [URL]. However, what I'm trying to do is a bit more complicated, since I want to have multiple embedded invisible buttons in the Flash window that each take you to a specific URL when you click on them. Alternatively I'd be happy if any button click resulted in a link to a random selection from a pre-programmed list of URLs. This is for ActionScript 3.
i have a friend who are dentist and ive agreed to do a web site for him. I do it in cs4. Like so: ive made a pretty simple and nice layout i plan to use for all pages with some images an so on .Now ive made lots of buttons wich all opens in a timeline nice and slow (not to slow). On the index page i have a menu called "treatments" wich requir some room. I want to make a button called "treatments" wich can open and collaps to 3-4 minor buttons wich then again can link to diffrent pages describing different treatments. Now i need the treatment button to open up the 3-4 minor buttons one by one smooth(tweened with the alpha slider) with same frame rate as the other ones on the page and collaps again.
I have an object on the stage (with an instance called mcBlackboard) that contains two buttons.I'm trying to make these buttons link to pages on my site but I get the following error(s):1120: Access of undefined property buttonAboutUs1120: Access of undefined property buttonFAQsMy guess is that it's not finding the buttons in the movieclip (since the script worked fine when the objects were on the stage).I may have done things in an odd way, but it's the result of days trying to figure this out mysel
Code: function myButton(button:MovieClip,url:String) { var buttonPath = "mcBlackboard." + button;
Flash newbie here. I wanted to create a basic flash countdown widget to use on a site I run so I started googling and found a template I liked. After messing around with it and whipping up a quick background in Photoshop, I got something that looked decent. The template uses Action Script 2.0, but it seems to work ok. I went through it and customized the date and countdown text color so I don't have to use any variables in the embed code.
The problem I am facing now is I want the whole flash file to be a link in case someone else takes it and decided to embed it on their site, it at least links back to mine. I put an invisible rectangle over the whole project and inserted this AS
I'm new to AS3 and I was wondering if there's a way to make the whole movie a link to another page.I'm creating an advertising banner and I'd like to redirect people to another website whenever they click on the banner
I have started to do some reading, but I have a FLA file that I need to add a get URL to. I have spent the last two hours doing tutorials, but all of them show a different view than what I have. with this?Request: To add the ability to have someone click on the button and get an url.Attached: My FLA that I am trying to figure out how to do this with.
Trying to make it so when you click anywhere on the flash file, it loads a specific website. It works when I go to File > Preview > Flash, but if I try and preview in html it doesn't navigate anywhere. My actionscript is:
Code: myButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onMouseClick); function onMouseClick(e:MouseEvent):void {
I am pulling my hair out trying to make my simple flash file link to a URL and nothing I have tried will work. I am making a transparent box on the top layer of my file, making it a movie clip and adding the code
on (press){ getURL("http://www.trimergence.com/staging/news.html"); }
The action says it has no errors, but when I export the move, my cursor turns to a hand but goes no where when I click.
I am creating this animation. When you click on a button I want it to use facebox to use a pop up. I was talking to my coder friend and he gave me this code to maybe useSo I am trying to basically use this kind of coding into flash. The only thing is that I am not that great a coding so I have no idea what I am doing. The only coding that I have is a stop (); at the end of the animation so it doesn't loop.
I have a swf embedded into a site, and I want the swf to be clickable so when you click on it it goes to another page. I tried wrapping the whole flash object in tags, and that makes it clickable but the biggest problem I'm having is when you roll over it with the mouse the pointer icon doesn't come up, it just looks like the regular arrow. I tried playing with the css and doing cursor:pointer, but it still doesn't work. I can edit the .fla file and add some actionscript 2.0 to it, but I'm not sure what to add or where. I'd rather do it through html or css, but if I have to do it in flash that's ok too. Also, I have an invisible button over the whole thing called, MYbtn
I have recently purchased a XML based template and need to make an existing XML link goto an internal menu page. I have been able to create buttons in the flash template itself using action script with no problems. In my site I have several buttons that say more, so in the XML document it has these internal links, asfunction:_root.more_click_func,1. So what I am trying to do is have thiese links goto the contact page, so I assumed it was simple as directing the asfunction to the internal menu which is 6 but it doe snot work. asfunction: "6" asfunction: contact
I have two copies of an image (one called blurPic_mc & one called sharpPic_mc) and I want to be able to move both of them around the screen togethe I need them to stay exactly on top of each other for some other functions I am running but right now the only one that moves is the top one (sharpPic_mc).I included my code below.
sharpPic_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,Click); sharpPic_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,Release); function Click(event:MouseEvent):void{
I am new to actionscript 3, when I publish this code everything works fine except that the hand disappears when it is over the text. Is there something that I am missing?I tried applying menu_txt.buttonMode = true, but I got an error.[code]
I am attempting to revamp a website. The buttons that are currently being used are only gifs that are hyperlinked and there are almost 12 buttons... I think that this is a ridiculous amount of buttons to have. It looks very cluttered. So, I figured I should make 6 buttons and just fit the rest of the buttons into subcategorized buttons. And the way to do this is to create flash buttons with drop down menus. To see what I mean, go to this link and look at their buttons:
[URL]
Their buttons drop down into menus with sub-categories. I want to do this.
So far, I have gone into flash, created buttons and made graphics for the "Up" "Over" "Down" and "Hit". I have also added the menu buttons and graphics for the "Over" of each drop-down button-menu.
I have even provided the action script to link each button to where I need it to go.
HOWEVER, here is where the problem is. When I roll the mouse over the button, and then move the mouse down to click on one of the buttons in the drop down menu, the menu disappears, OF COURSE, because the mouse goes off the hit. I can't make the hit bigger, because the menu shouldn't open unless it's on the main button. But without the hit being bigger, the menu will always disappear.
IN ADDITION, I've never used flash buttons on a website before. I'm just using HTML. How do I link the button to the page? Do I save the file as a .swf flash file? And link to 6 different files? Or do I save the buttons in a line, and just use one link?
I have a document which is basically a catalogue page, and I'm trying to make it so that when you click on an image, a movieclip of the image fading in larger appears, so it will look essentially like it's been zoomed in. To do this I put the movieclip inside a button. I have the button working fine, when you click it, it does exactly what it's supposed to, but I have no idea how to set it so that when the button is clicked it stays in the 'down' position, so you don't have to hold the mouse down. And also how to get back to the main screen afterwards, since the movie does take up the entire stage when played. Is it possible to do this?
i'm making a few buttons to be interactive with each other, for example my question is based on this: I'm making a game where you can extract oil and sell it, but what i want to know is how can i show a text message when i hit a button? for example: Once i play the scene, i will have a few buttons (Buy, sell, check reserves) also i will have a few text fields which will be "linked" with these other ones for example if i click two times in BUY i want to have in the text field of OIL BOUGHT: 2 (this are the times i clicked before) Well,hope anyone can answer my question or at least recommend me an excellent book of AS3, i'm quite lost in this
I have some buttons on my timeline and I want something to be done when I mouse over (for example) my button. The buttons have instance names of b1, b2, b3 and so on. Actionscript I`m using (for the first button) is:
b1.onRollOver = function() { //blah }
Same code goes for other buttons, I only change instance name. It is easy to do as I have a few buttons but what if I want 100 or more? It should be an easier way instead of using copy/paste.. Tried to solve this problem using loop:
I am making buttons to control a video in flash and all is working fine except I would like the fast forward button to continue going forward as you hold it. At the moment I have th
Does anyone know how I could control a buttons link using xml? That way the link could be changed anytime without having to open the flash source file and re-export the movie.
I purchased a Flash template. I know I need to edit the .FLA file, but yikes. Layers and layers. How do I link the existing buttos in the FLA file to other URL's in the site--like "home", "contact us", etc. pages? I have a Lynda subscription, but trying to find a specific topic in those tutorials is a pain.
I started creating a simple navigation bar: [URL] But decided to make individual buttons: [URL]
As you can see the latter repeats, however the code (after about an hour checking it seems to be identical: Actions for frame one: _root.buy_mc.onEnterFrame = function() { if (mouse_over_buy_mc) { _root.buy_mc.nextFrame(); } else { _root.buy_mc.prevFrame(); }};
Actions for invisible button: on (rollOver) { _root.mouse_over_buy_mc = true; } on (rollOut) { _root.mouse_over_buy_mc = fstartlse; }on (release){ getURL("[URL]"); }
I am attempting to make a flash website, and have 5 buttons on my menu. I made 5 pages in a movieclip called "content". I want to know how I can link those buttons to go to those pages (actionscript and where to put it).
I have seen flash website templates, and see only ONE button, but when I looked at it in an .swf, it shows all buttons with their specific text label.
