ActionScript 3.0 :: Making A Few Buttons To Be Interactive With Each Other

Aug 14, 2011

i'm making a few buttons to be interactive with each other, for example my question is based on this: I'm making a game where you can extract oil and sell it, but what i want to know is how can i show a text message when i hit a button? for example: Once i play the scene, i will have a few buttons (Buy, sell, check reserves) also i will have a few text fields which will be "linked" with these other ones for example if i click two times in BUY i want to have in the text field of OIL BOUGHT: 2 (this are the times i clicked before) Well,hope anyone can answer my question or at least recommend me an excellent book of AS3, i'm quite lost in this

Professional :: Making Interactive Map Of Cemetery?

Oct 11, 2011

For a project I am thinking about making an interactive map of the cemetery on my college campus. I would like the map to function like this map here: [URL]. I'll start by making the map in Illustrator but from there I'm not really sure where to go because I am new to Flash. I would like the name of the item the mouse is over to be displayed and then when clicked on a box comes up with additional information. If the item the mouse is over can change color that would be nice too. Panning and zooming would also be great if they are not incredibly hard.

I want to make an interactive gizmo to explore 20%. so I want a little slider and a red (20%) and a green (80%) bar so that when I slide the slider to different numbers - lets say between 1 and 100 I get a graphical representation of 20% of the number selected as well as the actual numbers? so at 50  red column is 10 green is 40. at 100 red is 20 and green is 80?

I could just have a MC with different frames and select a few numbers to highlight and fake it.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making An Interactive Movie (QTE-style)?

May 8, 2010

i'm currently in the process of linking a movie i've made into a series of interactive scenes, which can half the outcome altered depending on if the player chooses to press certain buttons within the movie. As an example, at one point the character is asleep, and the text "Wake up" appears on the screen, at which point the viewer would press the a or the l key to do the action. If they fail to press a key, the character sleeps forever and the movie ends.I'm making this in Flash.

However, I have such a basic knowledge in actionscript and cannot find a tutorial online to help me with what i'm aiming for. I know how to switch to playing different scenes using actioscript but not how to set it up so that pressing the a or l keys (these are specific to different actions the user can take, only chosen to allow them to have both hands on the keyboard at once to give it their full concentration) to specifically play events.

Actionscript :: Making A Flash-based Interactive Map With SVG Vector Data?

Oct 21, 2009

I'm looking for a way to take SVG path info (basically a string of coordinates) and dynamically draw it with Actionscript. Icing on the cake would be if those shapes could detect mouse events to trigger JS and dynamically change their appearance (fill, stroke, etc...).

I'm currently trying something similar to this ([URL]) using SVG but it's just too slow in IE. I've also tried Google's SVG Web ([URL]) which basically does exactly what I'm looking for (it converts SVG to Flash in IE) but again, it's sloooooow - which is why I'm considering doing the whole shebang in Flash.

Pause At End And Keep Buttons Interactive?

Jul 22, 2009

I have an animation that I want to keep buttons active at the end.

I don't want it to loop, because there's an intro and I don't want the intro to keep playing, so I unclicked Loop in Publish Settings. The intro plays for several frames...then it stops on the last frame. The movies continue to loop, but my button becomes inactive. It's active during the intro, but then stops on the last frame when the animation stops.

I've tried nexting the button inside a movie, but that didn't work either.

I'm figgerin that I need to not let the animation end, but somehow loop on the last frame instead. I'm sure there's an ActionScript for it, but I've been searching and trying different ones, and I have no idea which one to use or how to make it do what I need it to.

Flash :: Adobe - Making An Interactive Charting UI Component "from Scratch" (without Flex)

I'm looking for resources on making an interactive charting component in Adobe Flash without use of Flex (or, minimal use). That is, starting "from scratch" with Flash and ActionScript 3.0. Is there recommended reading? Perhaps a good recent book on the subject, or a detailed blog article, or an open source project to look at? I'm interested in the development process, and specific design patterns (for example, extending Sprite as the logical base class for your component).

Make An Interactive Flash Application That Works By Detecting Mouse Overs And Clicks On Various Buttons/movie Clips?

Oct 10, 2009

I am trying to make an interactive flash application that works by detecting mouse overs and clicks on various buttons/movie clips and then moves to the appropriate part of the time line. But I am having an issue when I use more than one addEventListener in any one frame. I have attached the code for one such frame below. When I comment out the addEventListner and the other code relating to the followBall function this works fine and directs the user to frame Inlet_Valve_Open_Frame but now only the followBall function is working and when i try to click on the Inlet_Valve_Button movie clip nothing happens.

I have never read all the help files on the adobe flash CS3 as i don't have time and i have built this code up based on examples i have found online. I wanted to include my fla file but it's to big 6Mb. But i have attached the swf so you have an idea what i am doing.

Code: Select allstop();
//1.
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE,followBall);

Buttons - Making A Drop Down Menu?

Sep 2, 2009

I am attempting to revamp a website. The buttons that are currently being used are only gifs that are hyperlinked and there are almost 12 buttons... I think that this is a ridiculous amount of buttons to have. It looks very cluttered. So, I figured I should make 6 buttons and just fit the rest of the buttons into subcategorized buttons. And the way to do this is to create flash buttons with drop down menus. To see what I mean, go to this link and look at their buttons:

[URL]

Their buttons drop down into menus with sub-categories. I want to do this.

So far, I have gone into flash, created buttons and made graphics for the "Up" "Over" "Down" and "Hit". I have also added the menu buttons and graphics for the "Over" of each drop-down button-menu.

I have even provided the action script to link each button to where I need it to go.

HOWEVER, here is where the problem is. When I roll the mouse over the button, and then move the mouse down to click on one of the buttons in the drop down menu, the menu disappears, OF COURSE, because the mouse goes off the hit. I can't make the hit bigger, because the menu shouldn't open unless it's on the main button. But without the hit being bigger, the menu will always disappear.

IN ADDITION, I've never used flash buttons on a website before. I'm just using HTML. How do I link the button to the page? Do I save the file as a .swf flash file? And link to 6 different files? Or do I save the buttons in a line, and just use one link?

Professional :: Making Buttons That Stay Down

Apr 3, 2012

I have a document which is basically a catalogue page, and I'm trying to make it so that when you click on an image, a movieclip of the image fading in larger appears, so it will look essentially like it's been zoomed in. To do this I put the movieclip inside a button. I have the button working fine, when you click it, it does exactly what it's supposed to, but I have no idea how to set it so that when the button is clicked it stays in the 'down' position, so you don't have to hold the mouse down. And also how to get back to the main screen afterwards, since the movie does take up the entire stage when played. Is it possible to do this?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Making Buttons More Dynamic?

Dec 24, 2008

I have some buttons on my timeline and I want something to be done when I mouse over (for example) my button. The buttons have instance names of b1, b2, b3 and so on. Actionscript I`m using (for the first button) is:

b1.onRollOver = function() {
//blah
}

Same code goes for other buttons, I only change instance name. It is easy to do as I have a few buttons but what if I want 100 or more? It should be an easier way instead of using copy/paste.. Tried to solve this problem using loop:

howmuchbuttons = 3;
for(i = 1; i != howmuchbuttons + 1; i++) {
_root["b"+i].onRollOver = function() {
//blah
}
}

but it didn`t work as I expected.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making Animated Buttons For A Website Nav

Feb 9, 2011

I have a few questions on creating some animated buttons for a nav. There are 2 actions I want to trigger on moue over. If I want to use a static (PNG) image that I created in Photoshop for the actual button, can I use that? I want to smoothly slide button down on mouse-over and slide back up on mouse off. If I push part of the button off the "canvas" (sorry, this is coming from a Photoshop guy) will it disappear in the final animation? Another way to put that is, if I put an animated element off the white area, will it no longer show up in the movie (.swf) when it's published?

For the second part; you can see a bit of what I want to do if you look at this website's top Nav: [URL] I need the "light" above the button and it's going to be on another colored <div> so I can't set one solid BG color for my flash document. But I want to achieve the effect of the "bar" lighting up above the button and the actual button sliding down upon moue over.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Making Buttons Do Multiple Actions?

Sep 22, 2009

I am fairly new to Flash and I am wanting to create a virtual tour through a house. I DON'T want the panoramic views; I want to be able to have the buttons walk the user forward through the house and look side to side. I have successfully made the left, right, and forward buttons look side to side and move forward for one sequence, but once I add multiple "If" scripts for the forward button it messes everything up. Furthermore, when I want the forward button to go back to its screen when on the left screen it doesn't want to seem to work.

All this is to say how do I get a button to do different "if" functions from frame to frame.

The code I currently have looks like this:

stop();
up_btn.onRelease = function() {
if (_root._currentframe == 4) {

[code]....

it seems to mess up the entire button. It will only do the first command in the structure. All of it has been VERY frustrating and I don't know how to structure it so that it will go to the desired frame but also go back to the frame I want when looking left or right.
