I was wondering how this effect is done. If you look at the jpeg you can see that the content under the menu and conent frame is blurred. Been searching for a while for this but still I cannot trick it myself.

View 0 RepliesI have created a video for my flash application, convert it into a flv file.Now, I have imported it into flash in a layer, then I have created a new layer where I would yo place a mask with gaussia blur. You ca see example in the pic.I draw a mask into flash, converted it into a movieclip and assign to it a gaussian blur from the filter panel. But when I send the fla in execution (Ctrl+Enter), the video appear through the mask, but this one have not gaussian blur filter applied.

do you think it would be possible to have a blur filter effect on a mask. basically i will have a jpg as a background, a mask that follows the cursor, and where ever the cursor goes the jpg will be fuzzy under the mask.
I have a circle mask over a photo. I'm trying to get it so the edges fade out to black. Currently, it just is a solid white circle. It's a movie clip and has a radial blur and is motion tweened. The alpha channel on the radial blur is 100% on the first point and 0% on the last. Can a spotlight with radial blur/fade be done without adding code or actionscript?
I've attached a photo of what I have now along with what the movieclip I'm using.
I'm on CS5, but can only use AS2, if actionscript is necessary.

I have a scrollbar that I want faded edges on the content mask. The content is all dynamic loaded from xml.
I'm back to try and come to grips with AS3. I have been forced to focus on CSS and jquery. I am trying to make the background blur when you click on a link to play video or another movieclip.
View 4 RepliesI'm creating a UI which utilizes UILoader component to load content that I won't have control of.The "window" where I want content to appear is 950 x 420. Doing a simple test, I created a .swf with a stage size that matched, but with content bleeding over the edge of the stage.To ensure users only see what's on the stage of the loaded content - and not what's bleeding off - would the correct action be to create a mask for the UILoader instance? Are there any alternatives to using a mask? Like a property or something? (I didn't see anything.)

View 3 RepliesI'm having trouble figuring out how to make a static mask with dynamic content (as in a picture you can zoom/pan) in ActionScript. I've seen a lot of the opposite (see here), where you have static content (like an image) and a dynamic mask on top that you can manipulate. I would like to do the opposite - have a static mask (set at some size at some area) with dynamic content underneath. So for example, a user could zoom in/drag around some content, and the display size wouldn't change, while the content would move. You could imagine Google Maps being confined to a smaller square and being able to zoom in/manipulate the map through that square, and have whitespace outside of that square.

The problem is that the part of the effect that is outside of the mask is taken into accord. All widgets have a parent movieclip container, and the spacing between widgets are calculated by the height of this container.
View 1 RepliesI have a main flash container move that loads in multiple swf files. I created a movieclip container in the main flash container that resizes and positions according to the stage height and width as follows:

This works fine if no graphics are off the stage in the loaded swfs. Otherwise if I have a scrolling menu and the buttons out width the containing mc it takes into account the masked content width and centers the movieclip accordingly throwing alignment off.
Is there a way to ignore masked content when getting stage width and height?

View 1 RepliesI have an application written in AS3 that is loading swfs written in AS2. Most of them work fine, except for ones that contain the old AS2 accordion component. Loading one results in it working correctly, but each one that is loaded after it breaks the previous one (the content no longer shows and the mask disappears). It's not just limited to the accordion, any of the AS2 components that came with Flash Pro cause breakage. I've tried loading the swfs to separate movieclips, tried using applicationDomain, tried everything else I can think of. Rewriting the swfs in AS3 is not an option due to circumstances out of my control.
View 2 RepliesI have a startDrag function set up on a loader and mask that when the mouse is down on the loader it drags, when not it doesn't. There is also 2 buttons that control whether mask1 or mask2 is used. What i would like however is when the mouse is down - the area of the loader outside of the mask is visible but only by about 10/20% alpha, that way the user can see where all the image is while dragging. what i am doing is to make something along the lines of the "scriptable mask" tutorial Inigo was kind enough to put up.My idea is to have a large mask behind the whole of my flash site, this masks a colour image with a black & white one (nothing tricky). The image I am using is actually 5 separate images combined, and each is a pic of certain parts of the site.I also have a very basic set of buttons along the bottom... each corresponding to each section.
All I want is to set it up so that when I mouse over the buttons, the _x of the mask moves to correspond with the correct image... really very basic... or so I thought .If anything it should be easier to do than what is in Inigo's tut (where he uses the _x of the mouse to move the mask)... i just cant seem to get it to work with a nice easing effect (its easy to get the mask to simply snap to each coordinate, but I need it to smoothly move).
maybe point me towards a better way to mask. png file is way too big. I have been using the mask layer option to create my own mask around a jpg image by drawing around it on the mask layer. There has to be a fetter and faster way to do this. Is it possible to maybe have a specific color range have an alpha value of 0. Similar to green screening whereas If I put the item I want to clip on a green background flash will auto take out the green for me. and by auto I mean action script maybe. I think this can be done but im not finding it.
how are these guys clipping these images [URL] they have the movie clips set up where the black background on the 3 layers of shoes is getting masked out. When I go into the shoe movie clips I see there is a black background but it just disappears when I go back to main timeline.
ive gotten one movie clip to mask another in the actions frame but i cant seem to be able to mask the flames which are a shape with a movieclip in this as file. im not getting any errors but the mask isnt covering anything look near the bottom at s.mask=mask_mc; there are about 20 "s" shapes spawning per second if that has anything to do with it

It's always the same movieclip.I just want to give it a duration, actually the same duration as something else I have going on, so I can reuse the variable "fadeDuration"Then I just want to set the maximum blur amount.I have no idea how to go about this. I found two things online, but one looked to be using a plugin, and the other was missing all class definitions and probably asuming you knew which parts were declared at other spots.
View 1 RepliesI'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

How to remove a loader and its content using removeChild or any other way, I had removed the loader but its content still playing in the background i know that from the sound of the content.this is the my code for removing:

how it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.

I have a short TEXT that I turned into a symbol, it is a MovieClip on the stage. I applied a preset motion of blur fly in to it and it does fly in but does not blur. I tried to use the motion editor to increase a blur to 255 but even when I add it on the initial keyframe, there is NO blur.
View 10 RepliesI have a menu whee you can choose a picture to lead, works great with first selection, but when you choose a different picture it loads over the last picture,I want to substitute the content of that movie clip not to load all the pictures in the same space. I treid to use clear() and removeChild(), but this only works when I choose pic1 then remove that to load pic2, is there an easy way to substitute the content for the new content?
