ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Components - Content No Longer Shows And The Mask Disappears
Jul 25, 2011
I have an application written in AS3 that is loading swfs written in AS2. Most of them work fine, except for ones that contain the old AS2 accordion component. Loading one results in it working correctly, but each one that is loaded after it breaks the previous one (the content no longer shows and the mask disappears). It's not just limited to the accordion, any of the AS2 components that came with Flash Pro cause breakage. I've tried loading the swfs to separate movieclips, tried using applicationDomain, tried everything else I can think of. Rewriting the swfs in AS3 is not an option due to circumstances out of my control.
I have masked the video clip. The masked clip is working fine. But the Actionscript 3, which contains 2 more SWF external movie clips not loading those files. Once I remove the mask they start working.
Okay, so I have used this many times before but I cannot figure out how to fix this. This is what happened. after i open up any type of document like an actionscript 3.0 document or anything, if i draw with the paint brush as soon as i let go of the mouse button the line disappears. If i go into the timeline and click on the frame it shows up again, but if i draw again it disappears and i have to click on the frame to see it.
Is there web page (Adobe or other) that visually shows all the available Flex UI components? (similar to Java Swing's A Visual Guide to Swing Components)
I posted this in Kirupa but unfortunately i did not receive any response from the community for 4 days now. I'm thinking perhaps somebody here can answer my long awaited explanation for this bug or phenomenon. I have a shape animation on the timeline from one keyframe to the next (3 keyframes). There is an orange movieclip under that mask with instance name "container". Now if i attempt to attach a movieclip to it at runtime, it will automatically get removed when it reaches the 2nd shape tween keyframe. All my code is in frame 1. Isn't that illogical? I know it works if i place it into a movieclip. I need an explanation to this (if its a bug) and a workaround other than repetitively attaching it from frame to frame.
I'm making some banner ads. They work great on my staging site seen here:But they do not work great on my client's staging site. You can see that the masks are shown and there is flickering throughout:on how to solve this?I'm an expert-level user when it comes to creating artwork and doing timeline animation in Flash CS3.
I'm sure this has been asked in some way or another a couple of times before, and sually the first response seems to be..."are your fonts embedded?" Yes, they are. I am using a couple of different tweening classes (it happens with all of them). Basically what I'm doing is a simple sliding in and sliding out animation via the x and y properties of a movieclip. It only happens to a few movieclips, but some (not all) of my dynamic textfields disappear when doing this. When I click in the area that they are supposed to be, it magically appears. I have even tried creating the masks dynamically to stop the bug with no luck. It is very sporadic, but does anyone know/have experience with how to solve this problem?
i am trying to write some actionscript.........obviously!!
the effect i am looking for is like what is at <a href>http://www.hugeinc.com</href>
i have most of the code sorted, such as the _y movement of the transparent movie clip. i just need the actionscript that is added to the content mc that is located under the transparent moving movie clip.
I've successfully implemented the scrollbar from this great tutorial for some banners, but when I get to my 300x250 banner, the content gets cut off and disappears at a certain point while scrolling. This is the tutorial: [URL]. I altered the pieces for two different sizes without needing to alter any code, but this size is suddenly giving me problems. My FLA is attached.
If you have a design created in Flash and there is some content on the pasteboard (off-stage), it shouldn't appear in Flash Player.However, when you maximise the flash player window, it does
I'm developing an application using Flash CS5. The application itself runs successfully when tested with Ctrl+Enter. The problem being the moment I moved that .swf file from the original directory, the content disappears, and the Flash Player shows ellipsis literally ) instead of the usual content.
When I moved it back to the original directory, however, it works once more. I'm stumped. This didn't happen when I developed a flash content with Flash CS3 a year back. Is there something that I have to do? I've searched with keywords "swf content disappears when moved" but everything is about the file itself being gone, not the content inside it
This is a huge problem. I'm developing for AIR, and once the application is installed, the same thing befalls the application Maybe there's a configuration in my PC that causes this to happen?
I am looking for a possible fix for the issue I have. I created an animated movie clip where the animated images are bigger than the size area of movie clip's stage. Let's say I have a mc with dimension of 500x700px, but images are used 650x850px in size. I make transitions between images while they move on a stage. It is a simple timeline based animation. When I look at the published swf, everything is looking great. When I load this published swf into another swf on its stage, the behavior is changed. I can see the area what is beyond the intended visible area of 500x700px. I can see the portion of the image that supposed to be out of visible area and transitions lost the intended style. It looks really bad.As far as I can tell, the loaded swf content is losing its stage area. Its content is shown no within swf's stage area but within upper level swf's stage area. Is that possible to fixI still need to have the loaded swf with own boundaries where nothing can be seen outside intended visible area. I used mask to hide content but it did not completely fix the problem,
I have been working on a flash site for some time now and everything has been fine until today. I edited some of the text, and saved and now the flash will not load, it just sits as a white box. This is the first time I have ever ran into this problem. I checked all of the file destinations and even replaced the .swf with a different .swf file and the second one worked... So this leads me to believe that something horribly wrong happened to the flash file.
I am trying to get when a user mouses over the button some content shows up and moves with the mouse until that user moves off the button..does anyone know how i can acheive this...
I just tested out my site in Firefox and IE. Everything works the way I want it to in Firefox but in IE I'm having trouble. When I click on a button my preloader shows up but doesn't stop to load the content, it plays straight through and then my movie pops up. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I've never encountered this problem before.

Web Design, Illustration, Resume and Downloads are all I have working so far.
when I leave a window with flash content, in this case, a scrolling movie clip with buttons inside set to hyperlink popups (only 1 hyperlink is set so far): [URL] the flash content will disappear. So if I go back to the window, I have to reload the page to get the flash to appear again. Same thing happens if I minimize the window, when I bring it back up, no flash, and I have to reload the page. The menubar with the boxes at the top is flash as well (different swf) and that doesn't have this problem.
I'm trying to create a simple banner ad where the mouse hovers over the button and a panel shows up over some content of the site.[URL]I have two different .swfs: the container, which is the button and a loaded swf that has the animation that comes up when the button is clicked. The button is only 183 x 40px where as the loaded swf is 183 x 160px.When the loader swf is loaded, it takes the dimensions of the button.
Is there a way to have the loader swf be its original dimensions, so when the mouse hovers over the button, the loader swf covers some of the content on the Web site?Also, how can I change the MouseEvent to load the SWF when the mouse is only over the button and not clicking?
The simple code I have so far:
stop(); var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); open_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadBanner);
I have a specific requirement for a UI component that I am working on. I would like to make the component so that a designer can update a graphics in live preview mode whilst keeping the associated class the same.For example...ets take a button component which has an icon in the background and label. By setting an inspectable, I am able to set the label easily, but is it possible to point the icon to an image in say, the library or remotely etc? and have the image show as the background inside flash?[EDIT]Ahhh...I'm not able to load extenal files into the client so the graphic would have to be a library asset? Possible?
I was wondering how this effect is done. If you look at the jpeg you can see that the content under the menu and conent frame is blurred. Been searching for a while for this but still I cannot trick it myself.
I'm creating a UI which utilizes UILoader component to load content that I won't have control of.The "window" where I want content to appear is 950 x 420. Doing a simple test, I created a .swf with a stage size that matched, but with content bleeding over the edge of the stage.To ensure users only see what's on the stage of the loaded content - and not what's bleeding off - would the correct action be to create a mask for the UILoader instance? Are there any alternatives to using a mask? Like a property or something? (I didn't see anything.)
I have a movie clip that has imported xml in its text boxes, when i try to mask this MC with a rectangle, it doesnt show the xml loaded text boxes!! but it does show other elements like graphics in the MC.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a static mask with dynamic content (as in a picture you can zoom/pan) in ActionScript. I've seen a lot of the opposite (see here), where you have static content (like an image) and a dynamic mask on top that you can manipulate. I would like to do the opposite - have a static mask (set at some size at some area) with dynamic content underneath. So for example, a user could zoom in/drag around some content, and the display size wouldn't change, while the content would move. You could imagine Google Maps being confined to a smaller square and being able to zoom in/manipulate the map through that square, and have whitespace outside of that square.
I'm loading one SWF into another but the internal one is coming over the main content and that can't happen.here is the part of my code where the external content is being loaded anyone hason what I can do to fix this? here is my code:
Code: var loadAnimBox:Loader = new Loader(); var vid_mc:MovieClip;
I have a widget bar system where Ive apparantly been a little short sighted. Ive now made a widget that has a masked overlay effect. The problem is that the part of the effect that is outside of the mask is taken into accord. All widgets have a parent movieclip container, and the spacing between widgets are calculated by the height of this container.
I have a main flash container move that loads in multiple swf files. I created a movieclip container in the main flash container that resizes and positions according to the stage height and width as follows:
This works fine if no graphics are off the stage in the loaded swfs. Otherwise if I have a scrolling menu and the buttons out width the containing mc it takes into account the masked content width and centers the movieclip accordingly throwing alignment off.
Is there a way to ignore masked content when getting stage width and height?
I have a menu whee you can choose a picture to lead, works great with first selection, but when you choose a different picture it loads over the last picture,I want to substitute the content of that movie clip not to load all the pictures in the same space. I treid to use clear() and removeChild(), but this only works when I choose pic1 then remove that to load pic2, is there an easy way to substitute the content for the new content?
