Dec 4, 2009maybe point me towards a better way to mask. png file is way too big. I have been using the mask layer option to create my own mask around a jpg image by drawing around it on the mask layer. There has to be a fetter and faster way to do this. Is it possible to maybe have a specific color range have an alpha value of 0. Similar to green screening whereas If I put the item I want to clip on a green background flash will auto take out the green for me. and by auto I mean action script maybe. I think this can be done but im not finding it.
how are these guys clipping these images [URL] they have the movie clips set up where the black background on the 3 layers of shoes is getting masked out. When I go into the shoe movie clips I see there is a black background but it just disappears when I go back to main timeline.

Oct 22, 2010I can't edit it in the sense that I am unable to go in and take the eraser tool and erase a section of the scene on that layer that wasn't created in Flash. I can draw on it in Flash and modify it that way. I can effect it via tweens enlarge, alpha transparency etc. But I can't erase part of the graphic that I created outside of Flash in Photoshop.I've tried erasing on the graphic itself, also after it's converted to a movie clip - inside the movie clip's timeline etc. It doesn't work. As I said , I can draw on it and effect it but I can't erase part of what was already in it before it was imported from PS4.

Jul 25, 2011I have an application written in AS3 that is loading swfs written in AS2. Most of them work fine, except for ones that contain the old AS2 accordion component. Loading one results in it working correctly, but each one that is loaded after it breaks the previous one (the content no longer shows and the mask disappears). It's not just limited to the accordion, any of the AS2 components that came with Flash Pro cause breakage. I've tried loading the swfs to separate movieclips, tried using applicationDomain, tried everything else I can think of. Rewriting the swfs in AS3 is not an option due to circumstances out of my control.

1) First layer ........................ Actionscript
2) Mask layer ....................... Rounded rectange with some design
2) Image layer ...................... Best image (as a background for all other movie clips)
3) Movie Clips layer .............. 10 Movie clips (which are like slides and will be act like one webpage each)
What I want is the mask layer (Layer 2) should be enogh for all the movie clips in layer 3. No need to mask in each movie. I tried in the same sequence but it did not work for me.
Professional :: Flash CS3 Bug In Mask Layer?
Apr 10, 2008I have created mask layer with single MC cosisting of couple of instaces of another MC. This is a set of growing squares. The problem is that only first instance gives mask effect. Rest of instances are not used to. Does anybody knows what is wrong and how to workaround this (most likely)bug ? I would like to avoid creating one masking MC consisting of e.g. 100 layers - with teened growing sqare on each layer but in different position. Wiser is just to create one MC consisting of many instances of another single MC.Second example describing issue.Mask layer contains shape tween which consist of 3 keyframes.Masked layer contains single keyframe at first frame with one MC. This MCrestarts when middle keyframe in the mask is played. It seems that masked MC (on different layer obviously) is recreated when playhead meets keyframe in mask layer in tweened shape. In the same moment our MC stopped beeing visible for AS3 under given name as well.It seems that if mask layer contains more complex animation then basic shape move/scale then masking stops working properly. Is it bug in Flash palaer or am I doing mistake?

Apr 1, 2010I've read through umpteen Flash threads of frustrated users who export SWF and anything visible outside the stage appears in the SWF when opened in a browser.None of the solutions have worked for me.My file is called statement_onlineheader.fla.URL...I have my mask layer above a folder containing all other layers.I have also tried moving the mask layer above individual layers.Stuff outside the stage appears in the exported SWF.

May 25, 2011I have a question, and I find it hard to find resources on it. I have two layers, and another layer with an image of a broom on it. I want to use the broom to move over layer2, and reveal the layer beneath it. Kind of making a sweeping game. Apr 22, 2009I'm having an issue with scroll bars. I used the scroll bar component in flash and have scroll bars set up for my text fields. I have all the target names correctly. It plays perfectly when I test it in flash, the scroll bars show up with the text. No errors. I uploaded it to my server to test it and the text shows up but I can't scroll it, the bar shows up but the slider inside doesn't. I don't get any error messages from my browser either.

Then I create a new layer with a photo. How can I see the list (root) of objects that are inside each layer? I know that I can use the outline color to visually identify them but is it possible to see the objects as a root?
