View 8 RepliesI am looking for a possible fix for the issue I have. I created an animated movie clip where the animated images are bigger than the size area of movie clip's stage. Let's say I have a mc with dimension of 500x700px, but images are used 650x850px in size. I make transitions between images while they move on a stage. It is a simple timeline based animation. When I look at the published swf, everything is looking great. When I load this published swf into another swf on its stage, the behavior is changed. I can see the area what is beyond the intended visible area of 500x700px. I can see the portion of the image that supposed to be out of visible area and transitions lost the intended style. It looks really bad.As far as I can tell, the loaded swf content is losing its stage area. Its content is shown no within swf's stage area but within upper level swf's stage area. Is that possible to fixI still need to have the loaded swf with own boundaries where nothing can be seen outside intended visible area. I used mask to hide content but it did not completely fix the problem,
View 10 RepliesI have an application written in AS3 that is loading swfs written in AS2. Most of them work fine, except for ones that contain the old AS2 accordion component. Loading one results in it working correctly, but each one that is loaded after it breaks the previous one (the content no longer shows and the mask disappears). It's not just limited to the accordion, any of the AS2 components that came with Flash Pro cause breakage. I've tried loading the swfs to separate movieclips, tried using applicationDomain, tried everything else I can think of. Rewriting the swfs in AS3 is not an option due to circumstances out of my control.

View 13 RepliesI just tested out my site in Firefox and IE. Everything works the way I want it to in Firefox but in IE I'm having trouble. When I click on a button my preloader shows up but doesn't stop to load the content, it plays straight through and then my movie pops up. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I've never encountered this problem before.

I'm trying to create a simple banner ad where the mouse hovers over the button and a panel shows up over some content of the site.[URL]I have two different .swfs: the container, which is the button and a loaded swf that has the animation that comes up when the button is clicked. The button is only 183 x 40px where as the loaded swf is 183 x 160px.When the loader swf is loaded, it takes the dimensions of the button.
Is there a way to have the loader swf be its original dimensions, so when the mouse hovers over the button, the loader swf covers some of the content on the Web site?Also, how can I change the MouseEvent to load the SWF when the mouse is only over the button and not clicking?

It may be a lack of imagination on my part, but I can't imagine any situation where I would program a Button and not want the hitTestState to be the same as the overState. Why are these separate categories?
View 1 RepliesI've created some animated buttons (using movieclips of keyframe animation) and when the mouse goes over the button it starts a new animation sequence.now I would like to add some text when the mouse goes over the button but I tried adding the text I want to a new layer of the animation but obviously this just plays for the duration of the animation sequence or if I add another keyframe so it only shows for a short time then it will flash up each time the sequence loops around (I don't want the overstate sequence just to play once - I want it to keep going while the mouse is over the button)
View 7 RepliesI have programmatically created a simple button with a text field on top in a separate class extending a movie clip. The problem I am having is that the overState does not seem to be working and I don't know why. I have even tried removing the text field in hopes that would work, but it does not. The GameIntroduction class is called by another class which is the main class.

When I press the '0' key it makes the movie play. When I click the actual button it also makes the movie play. But how do I make it so that when I type '0' the overstate of the button becomes activated? In this way keyboard detection and mouse_down would work together.
I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

How to remove a loader and its content using removeChild or any other way, I had removed the loader but its content still playing in the background i know that from the sound of the content.this is the my code for removing:

how it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.

I have a menu whee you can choose a picture to lead, works great with first selection, but when you choose a different picture it loads over the last picture,I want to substitute the content of that movie clip not to load all the pictures in the same space. I treid to use clear() and removeChild(), but this only works when I choose pic1 then remove that to load pic2, is there an easy way to substitute the content for the new content?

how to load external swfs into the an MC content box using movies with embedded buttons?the problem i'm running into is this: i have animated buttons within movie clips. i also have a main_content MC in my scene into which i'm trying to load background images from another file. this other file has 3 frames, each with a different image.i don't know what the action script would be for a movie/button to load my external swf frames into the main_content MC.

View 2 RepliesI have mashed a setting somewhere that put the stage in wireframe preview mode and I can't seem to find where the setting is to change it back. I THINK I have checked every setting.
how to change this back? It's a little difficult to work with images when all you see is an outline of the image's dimensions.
I'm trying to make a simple Flash application to be placed on a web site. It is intended to take data from an .xml file and display it in the Flash movie. There are a number of buttons that display different nodes of the .xml file when clicked. (Not all the buttons are functional yet in this code; I know that.)It runs just fine in Flash. It even runs fine when I publish it and then run it by clicking on the html file on my computer.When I upload the html and swf files to my server, the html file works fine (gives me a solid colored background) but the swf is just a white box, nothing in it and no functionality.Something needs to be declared, imported or linked, I think, but I do not know what or how to do it. (Most irritating is the fact that the code is substantially taken from an online tutorial, with nary a word about this issue.)

View 5 RepliesI am working on a site, and I have an issue that I cannot resolve.

If you click on the "Issues" link, you will see a slideshow comes up.
If you click on the "Campaign" link, you will a page come up with links on the side, and a bare space to the left.
In the blank space, there is supposed to be a slideshow to come up. When I test the site on my computer, it comes up perfectly fine. But, when I load it to the server, it does not show up.
The ONLY difference in these pages is that the "Campaign" page is a scrollable page, where as the "Issues" page is not. I have tried to resize the scrollable page, and move it to the right side of the page, but it makes the text unreadable- even after resizing the box, and such. I have tried to change the slideshow into a symbol. I've tried a couple of other things, but to no avail.
