I'm still new to AS3, and I was wondering how to make an object point in the direction of another object and move towards it if they are a certain distance from one another. I haven't been able to find out how to do this from the Adobe devnet, so I thought I'd ask here.
View 1 RepliesDoes anybody know how to make an object moving in a smooth circle?
View 9 Repliesapologies if this question doesn't seem very clear, i'm finding it difficult to describe what i mean.can i make object move 'out of view' in a movieclip?for example, in the same waya movieclip can move offstage, i'm trying to find a way to make the content of a movieclip move out of view to the side but within the scope of the movieclip.so if i have a square movieclip size x=100 y=100 with a circle size 10 in the centre, i'm trying to make it so when my circle moves to the left more than the size of the movieclip it starts to move out of view.another example would be if i had a character on a television (the screen being the movieclip
View 3 RepliesI think I might of already posted this, but the forums are loading at about 400k a sec so I don't feel like wasting another 25 minutes just look through the first page of threads or my history.
I have an object that I want to smoothly move along the x axis when the user clicks on the screen. I first made a prototype that would make the ball end at a location I specified by doing x = 450; I then tried looping ball1.x += 1 with a for/do (I encapsulated it with a boolean so the if ball1.x got to 450 it would stop) statement and I couldn't see the ball transition, I just saw it stop at the 450 mark.
i'm rewriting my game code in as3 and can't figure out how to make my hero move smoothly once the directional keys are down. In as2 all I had to do was putting a line lke this: "if(key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)" and as long as the right arrow was being pressed, my hero was moving nicely across the screen. In as3, however, having written a very similar code, the hero knd of gets oddly "blocked" from moving. My as code looks liek this:

Actually i am doing project called multi agent system whereby the agent will based on behavior(declared and defined by ourself) to move in the map. The map consists of buildings, roads, infrastructures and others. i have finished those buildings and roads.
View 2 RepliesHi, I am tring to make an object move across the screen randomly..I want it move up-down left or right acording to the values created..for example I want my object move between value (-5 and +5 ) whats wrong with this ? because it always moves downward ???
[Code]...
I've been working endlessly to figure out if there is a method to make an object move randomly. I know there is a way, because I have seen many sites using it. Yet, I am unable to create anything besides specified movement in the x and y values. I can't make anything move randomly.
View 14 Repliesis there a easy way to make an object move along the x axis in one direction then when it reaches that direction it moves back. with a smoove movement.
View 1 Repliesi need to make an object move randomly around the stage on the click of a button and then stop the object using a different button
View 2 RepliesHow would I make an object move right in a loop where it will not stop?
View 6 RepliesI'm trying to make an object to move randomly across x-axis and while it moves back and forth it also scales in width.
View 3 Replieshow can i make an object move with arrow keys on my keyboard, i am using as3.so when i hit the left arrow, it moves to the left etc..
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to figure out how to make an object move vertically or horizontally a set distance once the object has been mouse clicked and then stop. Sounds relatively simple, but I'm pretty clueless at it.
View 2 RepliesI want to make a flash animation that makes an object move across the screen to a certain point, depending on what is typed into a text box, and i want many of these moving objects at once, so that you can type in a number and then the object moves to that point. Can this be done?I have used flash but have done verry little with the actions of flash, so please walk me through any actions that will need doing
View 1 RepliesI am creating a board game and I am using Object Oriented Programming with AS3. I created a movie clip with a circle that moves across the game board. There are 18 squares and 18 frames. I have a button that gives you a value with a dice with the random number function:
public function rollDie():void
{_dieValue = Math.ceil(Math.random()*6)
this.gotoAndStop(_dieValue);}
I have a class for the dice button, die, gameboard, and the main board. I am trying to make the circle move across the board(or go to the frame in the mc) depending on what the value I get with the dice. Here is my code so far:
[Code]....
The mc instance for the gameboard is gameBoard. Also, if anyone knows how to trigger a labeled frame depending on which square the circle lands on that would be a plus.
I have a mini-project where I want to make an object grow and move to a different section of the stage when I click on it. I know how to do this part, but what I want is for it to "move" there as if it were a tween, but I want to do it with code instead of with the timeline. I want it to function exactly as it does now, but with a motion tween. I also do NOT want it to jump back to the beginning when another button is clicked, but rather play from where it is. I've also attached the FLA with this.
Code: Select alllearn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, learnClick);
learn.buttonMode=true;
act.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, actClick);
[code]....
I want to make a movie object move up & down when I click on the respective buttons. Now I can do this, thats easy... but what I want is when I hold down on the buttons that it moves on its own? And I don't have to go "*clicky* *clicky* *clicky* *clicky*" (thats the sound your mouse makes) To move the object up and down. Is this even possible? (enter newbie joke here)... Heres the code I got: on (press, release, keyPress "<Up>") { _root.block._y = _root.block._y + 4;} Now the other thing I want to do is have it stop at a certain height. Both at the top and the bottom of the screen. The idea being that someone can't scroll the object off the screen online tutorials? new career move?
View 1 RepliesI can't seem to figure out how to accomplish a fairly simple task: I have a simple graphic and I'd like to apply an "orbiting" effect to it - so that the graphic moves in a circle around an arbitrary point (without rotating around its own center).[code]...
View 1 Repliesmake a drawing object move around the browser randomly and incresing it's size from 100% to 200% at anytime. Plus changing it's alpha.. all those with actionscript.
View 1 RepliesI'm setting up an application where I need to record users' voice every so often during the course of the users' interaction with the application. Recording is fine, and the quality is fine, but now my issue is understandng how Flash handles the microphone when it gets attached to a stream for publishing.Basically, the problem is that when I "publish" my stream, the voice gets cut off (clipped) at the beginning. So, I initially thought this may have to do with buffer settings on the FMS server side, but it wasn't. Then I investigated client side stuff. For some reason, my internal mic .activityLevel property is -1 even though I have called Microphone.getMicrophone(). According to Flash's documentation, this shouldn't be the case:
activityLevel propertyactivityLevel:Number [read-only]Language Version : ActionScript 3.0Player Version : Flash Player 9The amount of sound the microphone is detecting. Values range from 0 (no sound is detected) to 100 (very loud sound is detected). The value of this property can help you determine a good value to pass to the Microphone.setSilenceLevel() method.If the microphone is available but is not yet being used because Microphone.getMicrophone() has not been called, this property is set to -1.I am using a timer to investigate the microphone .activityLevel property every 50 milliseconds:
package
{
import fl.controls.Button;
import fl.controls.TextInput;[code].....
i am trying to make a drawing board(like colouring book) where when i click and MOVE THE MOUSE it colours the object(more like a brush and not as a paint bucket)i would like to know how to colour objects individually(without coloring background) and the most IMPORTANT is there any way to detect what percentage of object had been colored(like if 100% of object coloured something happens!)
View 2 Repliesi have the actionscript to allow an object to be manipulated by the sound received in the microphone:
m = Microphone.get();
attachAudio(m);
m.setUseEchoSuppression(false);
onEnterFrame = function () {
circle._xscale = circle._yscale = m.activityLevel+50;
};
but i need the script to allow the function that when sound is made it triggers a jump to a different frame.
From what I have read, using Speek over Nellymoser is advantageous, but I can't figure out how to use it with a Flex 4 Microphone object. For instance, the last code line:

I'm trying to grasp how functions and motion tweening works.
Heres my question. How do i make an object move along the y axis once it has reached its x axis target?
HEre is the code, that i got from here.
and what in this code is making the MC ease out?[code]...
how to do an object move towards the mouse when i move the mouse the towards the object and backwards when i move the move away, something liike the menu on [URL]
View 2 RepliesI know this is very noob, but I need a simple AS move and loop. Move an object across the stage and once out of site, loop and start over again? It needs to be a slow and endless loop.
View 3 Repliesim trying to make an object move away from the cursor when cursor goes near it, so basically you cant click on the object......
View 9 Replieshow to use these in order to make an object move from point A to point B in an arc.Think of that classic game where you have to input the angle and power and try to hit your opponent.
