ActionScript 3.0 :: Multiple URLRequests Inside A Function?
Jan 12, 2012
I'm trying to load 3 images to background in a sequence, like 1 second for each one, after a click,but i'm having a problem, i only see the last image but it seems that it loads successfully all the images, it seems that it only loads the images before leaving the function as the event.complete for load says.
It is possible to see the output of the urlrequests in a loop inside a function?
Code(cutted some function code for the post)
Code:
function processaOpcao(event:MouseEvent):void
{
while( i <= 3)
lets say I define a function that does a simple trace of the arguments it takes in, now is it possible to have multiple arguments? like sometimes i want to send in a String argument, sometimes a Number, and sometimes an Array.Do I need to create the same function 3 times to accommodate for the 3 different inputs or is there a way I can keep one function but send one of the 3 values.
An other XML and Flash question. How do I change my URLRequests by XML? My problem may be something else, but this only happens when I use the XML variable..
URLRequest by XML
var bgURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url); /*OUTPUT Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found. */
I have a bit of code here that pulls, at random, 50 images from a file and pushes them into an array. I now need to pull, at random, 350 times from the array. I'm using a timer in place of the for loop to grab the images from the array. My code works fine as long as I do not use an array and I loop the images straight from the file. But that's very slow and bad form. I think I can do everything except the .load of the array. I can't seem to make it work. I'm getting errors that say "#1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference" or "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Array to an unrelated type flash.net:URLRequest". I think I get the point of these messages, but I cannot seem to figure out how to pull the URLRequests back out of the array.
var imgLoader:Loader; var imgSource:URLRequest; var imgArrayer:Array = new Array();[code]......
I have done this same thing in ActionScript 3, but am not familiar with ActionScript 2, which I am forced to use for this project. I am loading products into a SWF via XML and attempting to add a click event to each dynamically-created movieclip. Simply tracing the text from a node in XML will do for now. I'd like to assign a property called "desc" or "description" to each movieclip and have it trace that property's value when clicked. Here is the relevant portion of my code as it stands:
ActionScript Code: var iXML:XML = new XML(); iXML.ignoreWhite = true;
I have an AS3 function that loads and audio file and then plays it. I have the pre-loader for the first audio file working - now I need to run the pre-load function before the 2nd audio file starts.
I need to pass a variable to a function inside a function. However this parameter (i) seems not to be passed (to function ...onRollOver). This is required to attach a textfield to a movieclip (reading the adress and showing it as a tooltip).
ActionScript Code: for (i=0; i<array_BE_ElecCities.length; i++) { var attachElecCity = mc_map.mc_places.attachMovie("Plant",
I want to create a vector, then call a function that populates that vector with arrays. Fine. The only catch is the function itself will declare new array variables to put into the vector, but are these new array variables private to the function only?e.g. something like this
ActionScript Code: public var vec:Vector.<Array> = new Vector.<Array>(); private function populateVec():void {
[code]....
Is this "kosher"? a was declared in the private function but added to something outside the function..?
I need to activate some lines of code inside a function because that is where the object name has been made.Would a boolean work well? If so how exactly would i implement it? I tried booleans but had no success because i am not experienced with them..
Heres some code: public var myboolean:Boolean = new Boolean(); public function Function_One()
if I add a button to open a uiloader with a marker google with a xml dataprovider in data grid, how can I set this function?
function completeHandler(event:Event):void { var myLoader:URLLoader = event.currentTarget as URLLoader; var xmlDP:XML = new XML (myLoader.data); XML.ignoreWhitespace = true; dp = new DataProvider(xmlDP); dp.sortOn("name", Array.CASEINSENSITIVE); aDg.dataProvider = dp;
ActionScript Code: function function1(e:event):void{ //code
[Code]....
Can I somehow, stop the enter frame in function 2 with some code in function3? I know that is not the better practice, but in this case is really needful to have a function inside another.
It seems that I can have a function inside a function and my code compile fine. (by the way, this is a Flex question....not sure if that matters or not on here)But when I try to define a Resize from the inner function it complains....is it possible to do this? I'm really just trying to find a way to contain my functions inside functions that pertain to each other.
PHP Code: public function Close():void{ function Resize():void{
I am trying to make the classic brick breaker game, and i'm stuck at the part that when i lose a life, the game gets back to the beginning, except with one less life. Does anyone know how to make this?

My project is made from multiple SWF files. I'm able to create .app from the main SWF file. Is it possible to put the related files into the .app directory structure? Where should be placed? Into .app/Contents/Resources/? Would it be possible to access these files using some relative path to this location from the main SWF?
I am trying to figure out how to add movieclips into a sub group that group needing to be another movieclip. similar to how it would be if the objects had been drawn inside an already existing movieclip...but using the script.
I'm trying to create multiple Functions inside a Loop.[code]I essentially want to make 4 Functions called closeButOut1, closeButOut2, closeButOut3 and closeButOut4.This is the error message I get:
-1084: Synax error: expecting identifier before this.
-1084: Syntax error: expecting leftparen before rightbracket.
I am having a great problem with getting the buttons inside a movie clip I am trying to tween to work. I can only get one of them to work.I want to add several more inside the clip as well.Here is the code:
i am loading some thumbnails from an xml file into a movieclip using attachMovie() - each thumbnail loaded is in it's own MC inside the 'container' MC. everything works great but i need to be able to scroll the thumbnails b/c the number of thumbnails can change but the space they have to fit into cannot. make sense? if attach them to a scrollpane or a textarea instead of a MC it only shows the last thumnail loaded or iterated in the for loop.
Code: articleNos = seasArts.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes.length; var item_spacing = 55; var item_count = 0;
I have multiple movie clips nesting inside each other as I need them to perform different functions. On my main timeline I have a mc called "menu_mc", inside of that I have "menubg_mc" and inside of that I have "drop_mc". I have some code on the "menu_mc" timeline, a tween class to make the menu slide out from the left of the stage. Inside the "drop_mc" timeline I have some tween class code which reveals the drop down menu. Now the slide out menu works fine but because the "drop_mc" is 2 levels deep, it won't play the drop down tween. I know that I need to target this movie clip but my question to you is.. Where do I place the code for "drop_mc" (tween) as obviously it doesn't work being nestled 2 levels deep. I have the following code in the main timeline
Is there any way to use multiple document class inside same fla file,or change document class name dynamically i have 4-5 actionscript 3.0 file,these 4-5 files have codes of a game say level 1, level 2 ,level 3 , level 4 & 5 entirely different from each other.What i need is that when one level finishes, another level document class should be called?
Ok, this is a somewhat complicated issue dealing with SWCs and compilers. I've outlined steps to reproduce the problem below. I'm using the method outlined here to bring in Flash content to my project. I have 15-20 SWCs already, and it's working fine for those assets, the problem is specifically related to Flash's components (ComboBox, RadioButton etc.) If anyone has *any* advice on this, please let me know as we are completely stumped at this point!
The issue we're having involves using multiple external SWC files which contain AS3 components from Flash CS4. When two SWCs are linked to an ActionScript project (using Flash Builder 4 Beta (build 4.0.0)) there are collisions in the referenced classes which cause the most recently published SWC to knock out any duplicate classes in the other SWCs. A simple way to replicate this is as follows:
I have a Flash application that receives data from a php application in xml format. Would it be possible for me to call functions in flash that it receives in xml format?
Let's say the php application sends this:-
<data> <command>gotoAndStop(15)</command> </data>
Would I be able to get that function executed in the Flash application?
