I try to learn Package in AS 3.0. I copy and paste the following code into .as file [URL] When I test it, it doesn't work. It has the message "Javascript Errors. Missing ";' before the statement". I looked into the code, I didn't see any missing ";". Anyone has run this code successfully?

Fairly new to Flash - when I double-click on a code snippet (in CS5 or 5.5) the OUTPUT panel pops up and says: "The following JavaScript error(s) occurred: SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list" Tutorials make it look so easy. What am I doing wrong?
View 1 RepliesIve been working on a pong game, and its coming alond well, but i have a problem with that if your score is 5, or the AI's score 5, it goes to the 'you lose/win' screen.Well, ive been working with this:

Ive tried everything i can, ive added _root.'s, changed the equals (to things like '=', '==', '>=4'), and tried things like 'nextFrame' instead of '(6)', ive changed the instances thousands of times, and if it helps:

bluesco = 0;
Ive also put the top code on frames, movieclips, even buttons, but i either get these errors: Nothing happens when the score gets to 5.It goes to frame 6 as soon as the frame is loaded

The following doesn't work (although it gives no explicit error), but why not?nd... Is there really no way around it, strictly using the with statement? Forget using for / foreach.

This is with Flexbuilder 3.2, Eclipse 3.3.2.I am moving my development environment to a new machine. Actionscript classes that compiled in the old environment now get a compile error:
A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package.I do declare the package in these classes - I think failure to declare the package is the usual reason for this error.To add to the mystery, many classes in this project compile without errors.

I feel like I'm getting close to finally get a live stream to work correctly in 4.5. I can see the streams being recorded in the following directories

I have created an animation that loads several SWF files that are supposed to reside in the same location. I will be giving the animation to another individual for them to show to customers.Given the chance that over the course of use that individual, or some downstream individual, may forget to include the SWFs with the executable, I want to create a dynamic textfield that will be presented on the stage indicating that they are missing the SWFs.What type of code do I use that can specify the missing SWFs? I published an app to Air 2.5 (.air) from Adobe Flash CS 5 and afterwards also to Air Android (.apk) Since then I receive this error message if I try to publish as .air again:
Error creating files. Icon file is missing.
I tried to delete and recreate the folder and pathes but the error still appears.
I've written some code for a simple event handler that should tween a sub menu onto the screen when the user rolls over the menu button. The fla is called TestEvents1... and that's all the info I think is related.What's happening here?
I am using Flash CS5 and am getting a very odd error when I compile. All my classes are in the package com.es3.as2. In the first frame of my movie, I have the following code:

I have my classpath set correctly. When I compile, I get this error:
, Line 1 There is no class or package
with the name 'com.es3.ProgressBar'
found in package 'com.es3'.
This is odd because nowhere do I refer to a "com.es3" package. It's always "com.es3.as2".If I remove the import line, the movie compiles with no errors (but without the initialization code, it doesn't run correctly).
So I have a shell.fla file, on the same level as that there is a core_classes folder. Inside of the core classes folder is a core_initialize.as and a xml, buttons, and loaders folders. Inside of the loaders folder is swf_loaders.as
Inside of the buttons folder is menu_buttons.as
The package name for menu_buttons.as is core_classes.buttons The package name for swf_loaders.as is core_classes.loaders
When I run my Shell.fla I get the 5001 error Package name 'core_classes.loaders' does not reflect the location of this package. Please move this to the file. 'core_classes/loaders/swf_loaders.as'.
But where it lists the location of the error in the compile errors box it lists 'core_classes/loaders/swf_loaders.as'
I've checked the spelling everything is spelled right, I made sure I didn't mix up the two package names..
Word to the Flash Genies-- Heres my wish that hopefully someone else is struggling with an enormously mind-boggling bug in flash cs3-- when I try to create a public class that extends any of the native flash display objects, and I put this in its own package, even after specifically importing the specific class OR the package wildcard .* the fla that I'm compiling returns error 1017-- Base Class Definition not found. The fla is set to the correct classpath. This situation slipped from 'minor annoyance' to 'mind boggling' after I moved the directory to a different pc with cs3, reset the local classpath and it compiled perfectly. So then I moved the directory to a mac, running flex builder, and made a tester file to use the class, which compiled perfectly.
For some wierd reason, this particular computer cannot compile, even though nothing had changed in the actual class. Maybe it is important to note that this machine is running Vista (and perhaps should not be!)? Maybe it is important to note that the package is part of an SVN directory? Maybe it is important to note that after re-saving the same class file, changing only the class name (from BitmapSprite to BSprite) enabled it to compile on this machine, even though both the mac and other pc (running windows XP) could compile the class as BitmapSprite. I'm not sure if the name change or just re-saving allowed it to compile--but maybe it's significant that the new named instance was not committed to svn.

Flash cs3 on Vista computer - Using Actionscript 3.0. When clicking the check syntax in Actions panel. I am getting a message that "This scripts contains errors. The errors encountered are listed in the Compiler Errors panel." But there's nothing in the panel. The script was working fine before I added a mask but stopped working after I added it.. Not sure even where to look as even when I publish the movie I'm not getting any error message to point me in the right direction. Anybody know if there is some way to have Flash tell me where the error is? The weird thing is if I create a new flash document and just put stop(); in the actionpanel, I'm getting the same message.

I am logging runtime errors of users using a complex flash app and would like to know where things are failing. The target of the UncaughtErrorEvent is tracing as LoaderInfo (which is, I assume, because it is also kicking out the UncaughtErrorEvent) and the target of the ErrorEvent is null.
