If so, where do I change it? If not How do I get FMS to stream SMIL files without installing a webserver with FMS?
ActionScript 3.0 :: Play Dynamic SMIL In Flash 8?
Jun 16, 2010I am NOT able to play dynamicStream.smil in Flash 8.0 player ? What seems to be wrong ? Can anyone help me out ?
I have the following installed on my machine
1)Win XP
2)Flash Server 3.5
3)Macromedia Flash Professional 8 (30 days trial version.)
I am able to run Flash Server 3.5 and am successful in playing dynamicStream.smil and sample2_1000kbps.f4v from videoplayer.html when launched in IE browser.
I copy and paste "rtmp:/vod/mp4:sample2_1000kbps.f4v" in IE browser. It prompts me to open any media player. When QuickTime player is chosen, it plays the video. However, when I try to play the same in Flash 8 player (client), it gives me an error "A sharing violation" has occured.
Also when I try to play either "dynamicStream.smil " OR "sample2_1000kbps.f4v" from Flash Media player 8.0, by navigation to "C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5webrootvod" directory of Flash Server 3.5, I get "An unexpected format" error.
Is it possible to play this dynamicStream.smil, streamed from server 3.5 in Flash 8 player ?

Sep 15, 2009I have a video player working just fine with one video, steaming and using dynamic stream switching on a flash media server.Now I want to have more videos.I want to start using SMIL files for the dynamic switching list for each video.If you do not know what a SMIL file is you probably can not help.

May 10, 2011I'm loading in a smil file (follows the xml format) and it won't let me select properties via name (eg. xml.body) instead I can only access the data by xml.child(0).I've tried xml.child('body'), but still nothing. I can successfully play rtmp:/ streams from my FMS server on the video player. I would like to use dynamic streaming using the dynamicStream.smil file with my existing video player/playlist. Lastly, I have been unsuccessful taking the snippet code from the FMS, Dynamic Streaming sample page, and using it within an HTML document. I assumed all I would need to change were the paths to where the rtmp:// video file, .smil, and the video player files were located on the FMS.

Build Lower Namespace To 2.6 In Flash Builder
Jan 13, 2012I have to build an Adobe AIR application with the Namespace 2.6. The problem is, I recently downloaded Flash Builder 4.6 onto a new computer, and it requires the Namespace to be 3.1. Otherwise, it throws an error. The only solutions I can find online are to change the Namespace in the app.xml file to 3.1. This however causes issues later on when I try to Code-sign the application.The easiest fix would be to make Flash Builder build the application with Namespace 2.6.

Flash :: IDE - Cs3 Compile Error 1017 - Package Namespace?
Sep 27, 2007Word to the Flash Genies-- Heres my wish that hopefully someone else is struggling with an enormously mind-boggling bug in flash cs3-- when I try to create a public class that extends any of the native flash display objects, and I put this in its own package, even after specifically importing the specific class OR the package wildcard .* the fla that I'm compiling returns error 1017-- Base Class Definition not found. The fla is set to the correct classpath. This situation slipped from 'minor annoyance' to 'mind boggling' after I moved the directory to a different pc with cs3, reset the local classpath and it compiled perfectly. So then I moved the directory to a mac, running flex builder, and made a tester file to use the class, which compiled perfectly.
For some wierd reason, this particular computer cannot compile, even though nothing had changed in the actual class. Maybe it is important to note that this machine is running Vista (and perhaps should not be!)? Maybe it is important to note that the package is part of an SVN directory? Maybe it is important to note that after re-saving the same class file, changing only the class name (from BitmapSprite to BSprite) enabled it to compile on this machine, even though both the mac and other pc (running windows XP) could compile the class as BitmapSprite. I'm not sure if the name change or just re-saving allowed it to compile--but maybe it's significant that the new named instance was not committed to svn.

Jun 29, 2011I have a text field with a set height and width and that allows word wrapping. When I add text to it, I dynamically change the font size until the height of the text is smaller than the height of the box, allowing it to properly fit. The problem I am running into is that the box is fairly thin by necessity, and some longer words (like "Australia") are broken during the word wrap. So, perhaps "Australi" will show up on the first line, and "a" on the second line. However, because they satisfy the height requirement, they aren't shrunk any more. Jun 10, 2010I'm importing text in from an xml file and i'm using htmlText to try to keep some styling with tags. I have both the regular and bold face font embedded, and the bolding works fine. The problem is that it ads spaces around the words in bold like a paragraph indent and then makes a line-break after them. What's going on, is there a way to fix?

If I pull the text in from a txt file it will work fine, but taking it out of an xml file causing funky formatting.
Flash - Using Wmode = Direct Breaks Express Install?

Oct 14, 2011I have a TLF editable field in a(n) swf file. Text entered there gets sent to a php page where everything is processed. I had the behavior set for multiline, but just realized that if someone hits return and keeps typing, no break is displayed (not even a space). I've tried using nl2br() in the php when it grabs the POST variable from flash, but that doesn't work. I don't know how flash handles the carriage return, so I don't know how to handle it on the php side either.

Nov 13, 2009I want to use a non-standard font on the web in a various combinations of font-color and font-size without having to assign individual configs for each. So far sIFR seems to pick up font-size no problem. but not font color, so I am working on a work around.
The problem I am running into: sIFR is breaking text to the next line without a linebreak <BR> being present.

For the sake of the project I am working on, it looks like setting the standard to block level elements only with font-sizes of 18px and above will be the route taken to keep from holding it up further, but I still have personal interest and would like to pursue understanding sIFR and the line breaking further.

Flash :: TLF - Flowing Text Through Multiple Containers And Line Breaks?
Nov 20, 2010I'm using TLF to lay out a dictionary entry. It's working fairly well, but I need finer grained control of layout than I'm able to achieve through setting style properties on FlowElements, primarily for horizontal spacing and setting padding on SpanElements independently of their parents.
The solution that seems most promising is separating the various elements of the entry into separate containers and flowing the text through them by progressively adding new containers and ContainerControllers for each new element with size set to their content bounds so that the text will flow into each new container.
This ALMOST works, but the text will only flow correctly into the next container if an extra line break is inserted between the two sections of text that should go to different containers. Without the line break, the containers are sized correctly, but no text displays.
In these examples I've added borders to the container sprites so you can see where they're being drawn. Aside from the line break, the text is exactly the same. The syllable field is a SpanElement inside a ParagraphElement. The pronunciation label and text are separate SpanElements inside another ParagraphElement.

As you can see, the pronunciation doesn't show unless a line break is added after the text, but the alignment is then off. No combination of line breaks seems to align them correctly.
Any ideas? Are these bugs in TLF? Should I try a different method? I would really like to have all the text selectable as one unit, and I love the better rendering and control that TLF offers, but I also need the layout flexibility. I suppose it's possible that I could hack something together like this with line breaks and positioning offsets, but it certainly wouldn't be pretty (or maintainable).
Actionscript 3 :: Flash Player Breaks When Loading .csv File With URLLoader
Mar 25, 2011I've made a little flash, with AS3, to view the data generated by some program I wrote... The data is in a .csv file and are loaded to the memory with a URLLoader object.
The flash loads well .csv files which can come to almost 50 MB in size... But when I try to load a file with 160 MB, the player just stop working... I run the last flash player version, outside of the browser...
I've heard that the Flash has limitations on the amount of memory it can store... But in another question, they say it has not.
What may be causing the crash? - I don't think it is the code, since it runs smooth for small files...

Sep 28, 2006I want to use getUrl to display a javascript alert. I've found an example that works perfectly, by using getUrl("javascript:alert('hello world')"); But that example is published for Flash Player 6, and the rest of my movie requires FP8. And if I go to publish settings, and select Flash Player 8 as target, the javascript is no longer executed.
It's not about the getUrl changes in Flash Player 9, I've also tested with Flash Player 8. If you want to try for yourself, the example I'm talking about is from [URL]..
