ActionScript 3.0 :: SWF File Size And Rollover Text?

I've made a fairly small (at least in my eyes its small) flash site. However, even tho there really isn't much content, the swf is already 2.4mb and I haven't even finished it. It loads fine on my internet speed, but im worried about general users with slower internet. Is there something i should be doing to get the file size down (hopefully without comprimising quality).2. Text Buttons (Movie Clips)The rollover function (Event Listener) for MCs containing text keeps running while the mouse is over the button. I.E. It isnt treating the text box as a button, its treating the text only as a button, so as you roll between one letter and another, the rollover is re-set and re-starts.

how to change the action script in the "buttons" movie clip to present more like a button by enabling a change color with a rollover. workaround to accommodate a change of font size as well?
I'm assuming it would utilize the setTextFormat command, but I'm so new to this that I'm not really sure how to set it up.

Users can write a text, modify it (in type, color and size) and choose a picture (which is loaded through a XML-file) for an e-card, then send it to whomever they want. But when they have made the modifications, how do I save the card, and then store it in a database?

I'm working on a flash 8 portfolio and using the TWEEN class. First I create 5 buttons:

I load different image for each button and then I create some rollover effects:

This works only half the time. Sometimes, a tween is'nt finished correctly. I have a feeling this has something to do with the fact that while (elastic) tweening, my rollover and rollout are fired again (without moving the mouse). Any general solution for size tweening?

When I preview my flash file it says that the filesize is 29kb. However when I look at the properties of the outputted swf it's coming in a t 36kb. Which is the correct size? Also what extra information is being added to push it up by 7kb?

I have a button with a text in it called Test1.

I made a preloader for my single scene movie and although the preloader is about 16k, when placed into frame 1 of the movie and tested, the frame is shown to have about 256k, which is larger than the movie it's loading. I've gone through all the files and made sure that export in frame 1 is not checked and made sure the publish settings also are set to export in frame 1.

Why do the dynamic text font size appears smaller than what I specified in the flash dynamic text properties? I used a font size of 50 for the dynamic text and when I test movie, it appears to be only a font size of 12. Why is it so?

Is there any "mainstream" library used for this purpose? Commonly spread, well maintained, documented etc.I found these (using flash):
Uploadify - not many releases, latest 12/2010, no documentation (!)
SWFUpload - latest release 03/2010, documentation
fancyupload - looks buggy.
phpfileuploader - looks heavyweight, and looks commercial (?) I cannot read the licence (you can download it but are you allowed to use it forever without paying?) plupload New version of pure javascript (no flash) Valums' ajax upload claims to handle file size limit and progress bar, which is quite suspicious to me: these features require to guess the file size before the upload, which seems impossible in javascript (look also here). Or can it work?

I have two buttons and an swf file (a movie I created in After Effects). I want to do the following: When the page loads I would like the swf file (the TV) the stay frozen on frame 1 (the picture of the child's face). When the mouse is rolled-over the "Home" button, I want the swf file (the TV) to play frames 2-59, and loop on these frames until the mouse is rolled-off the "Home" button. When the mouse rolls off of the "Home" button I want the swf file (the TV) to instantly go back to frame 1 and stay on frame 1 until the mouse rollsover another button. If the mouse rolls over the "Products" button, I want the TV to loop frames 60-109, and again instantly go back to frame 1 when the mouse is rolled-off the "Products" button. I will use these buttons as a template, copy and paste them, so that I can easily make different segments of the TV play when different buttons are rolled-over.

I am new to flash. I have had this flash header up on my companies website for live for over a year now[url]...
I want to be able to change the text for the different menu options. (ie. swap About Us with Products).
I am fairly computer literate, yet having a hell of time trying to figure it out in the flash editor. All of the button just say Home and they seem to be drawing from some root, but cannot figure out where that is or how to edit.

If I have static text and I have converted one line within the text to an active email link...can I indicate a subject line also in the Properties, under Options --> Link?
Like: mailto:emailme@emailme.com?subject=My Subject Line Here
Can this be done in that panel? If not, how do I do that?
Also, how can I change this email line to rollover to a different text color on hover, without separating it out as a button graphic?

This is killing me - I have looked everywhere and cannot find a truly actionscript solution to creating a hyperlink in text and to have the color of the text change on rollover. I am doing the following

I am not really excited about doing css solutions so I was hoping for a different solution. In fact a better solution then htmlText would be even better. I really like the power of the "addEventListener".

Ok I have a bunch of buttons that represent a different restaurant. When I roll over the button I am the name of the restaurant to appear in a dynamic text field. Now I can get this to work, but I feel that I am doing this the long way and that there should be a more efficient way of doing it. Is there a way of setting up an var object that would contain the names and when the button is rolled over , it would pull that name from that object and place it into the text field? Here a sample of the code that I am using:

I have a dynamic text box that follow the mouse, giving information on rollover.

_root.cps1 changes very quickly (+3 per second), the text box only re-updates (changes the value) everytime I roll in / out, how can I make it constantly update.

How can I save data to a text file and also append a record to data in an existing text file? I've used Authowrware previously and it was quite easy to create a large string of data (a comma separated list) and export that to a text file (and create the text file if it didn't already exist). I could then easily append additional rows of data (records) to the text file. We want to build a questionnaire that will store the data locally on the computer in a text file. Each record may have a few hundred data points in a comma separated list.
