Is there an action script to do on (rollover) underline text? I know you could make two instances of the text one with the line and one without and then have them switch on (rollOver) but is there an AS for it?

The new text format is properly/correctly applied when I moused over, and the main difference that is applied onRollOver is to have the text underlined. The only problem I'm having with this is that the actual underline itself appears to be about two pixels to the left of my text string so it looks like its not aligned properly with the text.[CODE]...

I want to be able to change the text for the different menu options. (ie. swap About Us with Products).
I am fairly computer literate, yet having a hell of time trying to figure it out in the flash editor. All of the button just say Home and they seem to be drawing from some root, but cannot figure out where that is or how to edit.
If I have static text and I have converted one line within the text to an active email link...can I indicate a subject line also in the Properties, under Options --> Link?
Like: mailto:emailme@emailme.com?subject=My Subject Line Here
Can this be done in that panel? If not, how do I do that?
Also, how can I change this email line to rollover to a different text color on hover, without separating it out as a button graphic?
This is killing me - I have looked everywhere and cannot find a truly actionscript solution to creating a hyperlink in text and to have the color of the text change on rollover. I am doing the following

View 3 RepliesOk I have a bunch of buttons that represent a different restaurant. When I roll over the button I am the name of the restaurant to appear in a dynamic text field. Now I can get this to work, but I feel that I am doing this the long way and that there should be a more efficient way of doing it. Is there a way of setting up an var object that would contain the names and when the button is rolled over , it would pull that name from that object and place it into the text field? Here a sample of the code that I am using:

I have a dynamic text box that follow the mouse, giving information on rollover.

_root.cps1 changes very quickly (+3 per second), the text box only re-updates (changes the value) everytime I roll in / out, how can I make it constantly update.
I've made a fairly small (at least in my eyes its small) flash site. However, even tho there really isn't much content, the swf is already 2.4mb and I haven't even finished it. It loads fine on my internet speed, but im worried about general users with slower internet. Is there something i should be doing to get the file size down (hopefully without comprimising quality).2. View 3 RepliesThe original flash has a publish setting to Flash Player 5, and I have to have the publish setting set to Flash Player 8 (actionscript 2). The original flash works with the Flash Player 5 setting however when I change it the rollover text to picture stops working.

View 6 RepliesI have a scrolling dynamic text box, in which i have alot of information. I am trying to create a rollover effect for just a couple of words within this.
eg. Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Link Bla Bla Bla Link Bla Bla Bla
I know how to create button rollovers but that seems a bit tedious if im going to constantly change the content and links.I have added links that work and have colored them to show users they are links but id like a simple rollOver color change to occur when the user navigates over them. I have seen this done in many flash sites and have been searching for days without any luck.
Do i need to call external CSS or an xml/txt file to do this as there is no option to add actionscripting to selected text within the box.
Whenever I am trying to do, the button rollover work, and put the dynamic text on top of it. The area outside the text is reacting to the rollover, but when I rollover on the text, I lost the rollover effect of the button under.The only way I have found to work around this, is to create another mc, invisible, on top and covering the button and create a script to activate the button rollover effect under... but is it the only way?
I don't have to do all this with static text, but the font react bad with rollovers or some other effects.
Let's say I have a button called HOME, and in this button the word home is in HELVETICA FONT REGULAR STYLE. Now, Helvetica has lots of styles.Say I want the rollover state to be HELVETICA REGULAR. How can I do that with actionscript? My BTN instance name is "home", and my text field instance inside the btn is "home_txt".
and some general question: is it better just to create buttons for each category, or just create one general button, and reuse it giving a different instance name every time? Like, should the word HOME be a button, or should I add a rectangle button underneath it and change the instance name accordingly?

I've got an issue - When one of my buttons is rolled over, I want text and a movieclip to appear. When the button is no longer rolled over, I want the text and movieclip to disappear. The way that I was going to do this was to have anchor_mc as an anchor, and upon rollover have the movieclip play from inside the anchor (as its at the exact X & Y that its needed at) and dynamic text appear.

View 14 RepliesI'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven tooI am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?
