ActionScript 3.0 :: Scaling Flash Site With Changing Backgrounds?

I've been tasked by a client to make a scaling flashsite that changes background through the various pages. In addition some of the other objects need to scale to page as well.

This is the page in its current form. The background and the buttons on that layer scale with the size of the browser window. But if you click "who is the Rabblerouser" the box with text opens and I'd rather that not scale or atleast scale to a smaller size. I realize its scaling because its on the movie that the action script is set to scale... so I don't know what the best practice is here. All of the example sites with scaling pages had one background
I still need to code a PHP mailer and put in a video when the client supplies it.
Im designing a website but having trouble viewing the whole page on different sized monitors. On more square resolution monitors, the left side of the website will get cut off. If you scale the browser window up, to a more widescreen format again the site will come back into view, but as you scale your browser window to the left e.i. making it more square, agian the left side gets cut off.
anyone know how to prevent or fix this? the site address is [URL]
when I play my SWF locally, it scales dynamically with the size of the window. Now that Ive published it, the website is at a static size...how do I change that?
I have a full flash website built using Flash (of course). So I publish it using flash itself. But I am having a difficult time aligning it in center with its original dimension. I dun want my swf stretch out or scale at all. I want to display it without scaling and also in the center of the browser window. stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; stage.align = StageAlign.TOP; I did try these and also tried changing my publish settings but didn't work.
I have made a liquid layout flash site in AS3 but it doesn't rescale correctly in any browsers above 1440x900. I know most people don't have screens bigger than this but it should be scaling to the entire window regardless of the screen size, small or large. I have a simple test site to test scaling images proportionally.[code]The site is full browser with 3 MovieClips - header_mc, body_mc and footer_mc.header_mc is the strip across the top. body_mc is the middle section, which contains a image that is a MC, img_mc. footer_mc is the bottom strip.When the browser resizes, header_mc and footer_mc stay the same height, but the height of body_mc will change and footer_mc sticks to it's bottom.When the window resizes I want the image to resize proportionally - that's where I'm stuck.How can I resize the image to keep it's proportion.
I have a movieclip in the library that contains a RadioButton component and a TextField; it serves as a container. I pull the clip out of the library at runtime and populate the text into the TextField. I don't know what height the TextField within the movieclip will be but I want the movieclip's height to be the same as the height of the text in the TextField so I can position it appropriately. However, the container movieclip always wants to be some other default height (I think 100px) and when I try to change it thru code after the text is set, it scales the whole thing (TextField & RadioButton) and looks like garbage! I need to set the height dynamically without the stupid scaling.
You would think the movieclip would resize based on it's content but it doesn't! I've tried pulling it from the Library, I've tried doing everything thru code, but neither changes the height vs. scaling issue.
I have built a liquid layout Flash site using AS3 but it isn't scaling correctly once I go above 1280x1024. I am currently using a Mac screen with dimensions of 2560x1440 and it looks terrible. The menu pushes to the top and the bg and page info stays central but with no scale.[URL]..
The HTML is 100% w+h so it's obviously something within the AS3 code. This is causing me nightmares so if someone could take a look at the code pasted and see if there is a way to resolve
I don't know whether anybody here's been to [URL] before, but if you'll notice, the site's background doesn't appear to tile, yet continually re-fills the browser window upon re-size while still loading quickly.
I'm having an issue with solid backgrounds showing up behing transparent PNGs in Flash. I know this isn't a lot to go on, but I have no idea what is going on here, My client sent me the attached image.. This is what they are seeing (the green box behind the top of the vehicle). I am not seeing this. Apparently this box, and other similar boxes show up during image transitions.
I am using Tweens to fade between different models and colors of the vehicle. I was originally using Caurina/Tweener, and experienced similar issues myself, but since switched to using the built in tween class, and am not seeing any problems anymore, but apparently my client is.You should be able to see the attached image. I'm building a site that will change the background depending time of day. I do want to show the time in the top of my page. What are good codes for showing a time and date in Flash and what would I use to change background depending on if the time is past 7PM or before.
Example. If the time is before 7PM I want it to show a background with a clear blue sky. If not then the background will be a starry night. I'm using CS3.

I want to know what the best method is for changing the values of variables that need to persist amongst all users of my site?For example, say I have a button that can only pressed 10 times. And not 10 times by a single user during a single session, I mean 10 times between every user who ever visits my site. How would I keep a running count?
I'm creating flash site which will have different backgrounds for each page. I'll load the individual pages with "MovieClipLoader." My understanding about MovieClipLoaders is that, it doesn't matter the background of your mc, the page to which you are loading will maintain it's background.
Im building a website fully with flash and there is the typical navigation bar to get to the other parts of the site..
each part of the site has a different background photo and I would like to fade out/In each background of the site...
if it would be linear on the time line its obviously just a matter of motion tweens and alpha values.. .but how to do it if one wants to jump say from section 6 to 1 and have background 6 blend with background 1 ?
I guess there is a way to create an if statement in ActionScript ?

i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.
I have been trying to find a way to color the backgrounds of different words in a single textfield with different colors.
For an example, lets imagine the whole text is a story which has nouns and verbs...etc Now I want to show the full text which is my story and highlight the background of nouns in blue, verbs in red.
Then I have dedicated toggle buttons for each types. The use of those buttons is removing or showing those backgrounds. For an example and when user clicks on noun button it will remove or show the background of all the nouns. Same for the button for verbs.
Then you may ask why I can't achieve this by using separate textfield for each word in the story and line them like a paragraph. The problem is user should be able to edit those text. So those are INPUT typed textfields. So all the words should move within the boundaries of paragraph when user keep changing one word. see the second attachment and you may see that I have changed the first word by typing "abcde", so as I type all other words should move like you type inside a textfield. So thats why I think if we can achieve it using single textfield rearranging words as user types is taken care of the textfiled so we don't need to place all the words manually.
When I was trying to think of a way to do it, I found that background is only a property of TextField, but not TextFormat. If it was a property of textformat then I could have set different formats for different words in same textfield. So that option is out.
Also I thought of using CSS with htmlText. But unfortunately text-background is not supported by actionscript stylesheet class.
I'm building a game that is relatively heavy. I load the essential assets before rendering the game, such as sounds, classes, movieclips and bitmaps. Now my question is... There are some none essential assets that I want to load in the background and not in the main load to speed things up for the user. But, apart from consuming the user's bandwidth...I have the feeling the animations slow down if they are running while the assets are loading in the background.

I'm now trying to do the same thing in a ComboBox. I know it's possible with either a classFactory or extending the ComboBox but I really can't work out how - there is so little information on things like the classFactory around.

I'm building some navigation that extends all the way from left to right across my SWF. When the window resizes, I'd like the nav buttons to get wider but not have the text on the buttons get wider.
The buttons themselves are rectangles with a vertical gradient and a stroke around the outside. I'm using 9-slice scaling so the stroke doesn't scale, but the middle (gradient) gets wider or narrower.What'd be great is to be able to select an object or layer and say "don't scale, even if the rest of this movie clip scales". Is there a way to do that, or will I have to do it via actionscript?

Is it possible to load backgrounds for the thumbnails in tutorial http:[url]...Now I have a mc containing multiple white backgrounds at 65x65px, which loads and places it under the loaded thumbnails (like a mask), but I would rather like it to load a singel mc, seperatly for each thumbnail. A client of mine has had 2 sites (both Flash sites) attacked over the last 12 months, so he's been asking: should he go for a static HTML site or stick with a Flash site? Is there ways to make a Flash site more secure?
