ActionScript 2.0 :: Solid Backgrounds Showing Up Behing Transparent PNGs In Flash?
Jun 7, 2010
I'm having an issue with solid backgrounds showing up behing transparent PNGs in Flash. I know this isn't a lot to go on, but I have no idea what is going on here, My client sent me the attached image.. This is what they are seeing (the green box behind the top of the vehicle). I am not seeing this. Apparently this box, and other similar boxes show up during image transitions.
I am using Tweens to fade between different models and colors of the vehicle. I was originally using Caurina/Tweener, and experienced similar issues myself, but since switched to using the built in tween class, and am not seeing any problems anymore, but apparently my client is.You should be able to see the attached image. You can also view the demo link, to see if you see any issues yourself with the PNGs fading in and out....(you'll have to sit through the intro, then click EXPAND on the final frame)
Has anyone ever encountered this weird, unique error I am gettingWhen I export my program to a SWF all the imported PNGs with alpha transparency (ie; soft edges) render totally wrong - no transparency, very blocky and pixelated. See the attached image for an example;this is out of the blue. Has exported fine recently.
how to make a flash background go from solid to transparent? I know how to make it transparent all of the time, but I want the SWF to play, the background is there, and when it's done I need it to fade away...
I have an artist I'm paying to do animation art for me. I need PNGs for each frame in the animation but she is most comfortable doing her animations in Flash. It sounds like getting the frames for me will be difficult for her. She was able to do the still art we needed and give us that as a frame, but for some reason the animation is different? Keep in mind we need PNGs with full transparency support in the background. We can't be clipping these frames out by hand.
I need to important transparent pngs into my SWF, and have them clickable as buttons. Right now, I'm using JPGs with the loader component, but I'm aware this method does not work with PNGs.
i have a transparent (in places) png in a movieclip, can i use that png in the movie clip as a mask? i have seen lots of ways of creating compositions but i need the mask movieclip on the top to be able to mask a movieclip underneath that has lots going on animation wise? is this possible. i dont need answers i just need the right direction or a yes or no, i fail to believe i cant copy the bitmap data of a movieclip (and the transparent png images in it) and then use that as a mask
For example, I have a transparent png file, the shape is a car.In the png file, I only draw the white border shape.Outside and inside the border are all transparent.
I want to use actionscript3 code to show the car object with different color, it means only fill color inside the border, and for the outside of the border, keep transparent. How to do that?
So far, the simplest workaround is to prepare many images with PhotoShop, but it's not good enough for me. When I have many shapes and use many colors, I've to prepare many many images.Add more details:(Because I'm using white border, you may not see the basic png file if your background of browser is white)
I have a simple Flash movie which loads several external PNG-24 images into movie clipsEach movie clip is partially transparent (using alpha transparency), and made drag-and-droppable. Everything works properly except that for each movie clip, I am able to drag and drop the clip using the transparent space around the image. I want the "grab-able" area of each clip to correpond to only the non-transparent areas of the PNG, not a rectangular box around each movie clip.
I've been tasked by a client to make a scaling flashsite that changes background through the various pages. In addition some of the other objects need to scale to page as well.
[URL]
This is the page in its current form. The background and the buttons on that layer scale with the size of the browser window. But if you click "who is the Rabblerouser" the box with text opens and I'd rather that not scale or atleast scale to a smaller size. I realize its scaling because its on the movie that the action script is set to scale... so I don't know what the best practice is here. All of the example sites with scaling pages had one background
I still need to code a PHP mailer and put in a video when the client supplies it.
I don't know whether anybody here's been to [URL] before, but if you'll notice, the site's background doesn't appear to tile, yet continually re-fills the browser window upon re-size while still loading quickly.
I keep trying to place some pngs in an XML file inside flash. The jpgs work fine but when it gets to the pngs nothing shows up. Do you need to have a special Action Script?
I've been trying to import 258 PNGs into Flash. It gets up to around 200, +/- 1-2, and anything after that has "Bitmap not loaded" were the thumnail image should be in the library.
My computer is running 64 bit Vista with 4gb of ram.
I'm trying to duplicate this type of mouse trail. I can't tell if it's deforming a movie clip or drawing separate objects on the stage. I can duplicate it at slow speeds, but at a fast speeds I have no idea how they're doing it.
The MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE is way to slow on the update to draw exactly where the mouse is going so I tried using curveTo to create a curve but unfortunately you still hit a point where you get a sharp angle.
I am trying to print a movieclip with printjob in flash. This movieclip contains two layers: one with a PNG image with transparency and one below with a jpg image. The problem is that the transparency of the png is not respected so the jpg image does not appear. The code i'm using is real simple: var my_pj:PrintJob = new PrintJob();
I have a series of PNG files I need to use in a Flash project.Usually I bulk load my PNGs via an xml or json page.I'm just wondering, what is the difference between loading PNG files this way and adding a PNG to the stage via the Library (say, if you imported a PNG file to the library and then added it to the stage via Actionscript OR if you just dragged it on the stage)
We're working on a project right now where our animator is creating animations in Flash (the tool in which he's most comfortable) which we need to export for our application. He's using separate sprites (for a person, we'd use eyes, mouth, hair, feet, etc.) and transforming them appropriately. So, if his head is rocking back and forth, one frame might be normal, one might be rotated 20°, another normal, and another -20°, and so on.
What we need is to export all of the sprites used in the animation, along with the transform data for each object in each frame. Unfortunately, the animation is being done in Actionscript, which complicates things somewhat, and because we're using sprite components that we use in multiple places, we want each component of the animation exported separately. As long as we can get it into some kind of more easily parse-able format, we should be fine, but we're not familiar enough with Flash, in a technical sense, to know where to start looking. Solutions in Python would be preferred, since that's the language we're all working in.
I'm creating flash site which will have different backgrounds for each page. I'll load the individual pages with "MovieClipLoader." My understanding about MovieClipLoaders is that, it doesn't matter the background of your mc, the page to which you are loading will maintain it's background.
Im building a website fully with flash and there is the typical navigation bar to get to the other parts of the site..
each part of the site has a different background photo and I would like to fade out/In each background of the site...
if it would be linear on the time line its obviously just a matter of motion tweens and alpha values.. .but how to do it if one wants to jump say from section 6 to 1 and have background 6 blend with background 1 ?
I guess there is a way to create an if statement in ActionScript ?
If there is anyone out there, and im sure there are, who has any good methods for creating clean looking seamless pattern looking backgrounds for the web?!
I have been trying to find a way to color the backgrounds of different words in a single textfield with different colors.
For an example, lets imagine the whole text is a story which has nouns and verbs...etc Now I want to show the full text which is my story and highlight the background of nouns in blue, verbs in red.
Then I have dedicated toggle buttons for each types. The use of those buttons is removing or showing those backgrounds. For an example and when user clicks on noun button it will remove or show the background of all the nouns. Same for the button for verbs.
Then you may ask why I can't achieve this by using separate textfield for each word in the story and line them like a paragraph. The problem is user should be able to edit those text. So those are INPUT typed textfields. So all the words should move within the boundaries of paragraph when user keep changing one word. see the second attachment and you may see that I have changed the first word by typing "abcde", so as I type all other words should move like you type inside a textfield. So thats why I think if we can achieve it using single textfield rearranging words as user types is taken care of the textfiled so we don't need to place all the words manually.
When I was trying to think of a way to do it, I found that background is only a property of TextField, but not TextFormat. If it was a property of textformat then I could have set different formats for different words in same textfield. So that option is out.
Also I thought of using CSS with htmlText. But unfortunately text-background is not supported by actionscript stylesheet class.
I'm building a game that is relatively heavy. I load the essential assets before rendering the game, such as sounds, classes, movieclips and bitmaps. Now my question is... There are some none essential assets that I want to load in the background and not in the main load to speed things up for the user. But, apart from consuming the user's bandwidth...I have the feeling the animations slow down if they are running while the assets are loading in the background.
I've successfully created a class which extends List to create a List with different coloured backgrounds depending on a colour property of the ArrayCollection used as a dataProvider. Technique is described here:

I'm now trying to do the same thing in a ComboBox. I know it's possible with either a classFactory or extending the ComboBox but I really can't work out how - there is so little information on things like the classFactory around.
I am making a flash video game. You will have control of a spaceship that is going to go to space. I made a 550x30,000 JPG file in photoshop to use in flash as the background for the game. 30,000 pixels is about what I need to make a good scale of the earths atmosphere because earths atmosphere is about 36,000 feet high and I was goign to use a scale of 1 pixel = 1 foot.
When I import the jpg to flash and test the movie instead of my background all I see a a plain red box in the movie window. It fills the whole stage. This led me to think that there could be a pixel limitation. If so what are the limitatoions and how can I get around them?
from this tutorials, instead of duplicating both X and Y planes, I want it to only duplicate Xfor example, http://nano3.orgyou can see the grey fading into white, I just want the fade in my flash which is already an image.
Is it possible to load backgrounds for the thumbnails in tutorial http:[url]...Now I have a mc containing multiple white backgrounds at 65x65px, which loads and places it under the loaded thumbnails (like a mask), but I would rather like it to load a singel mc, seperatly for each thumbnail. How can I do that?
I imported a video into flash and have a transparent photoshop layer to create an iPod skin. The video works fine, but I cannot get the "stage" to be transparent so that you do not see the flash background color behind the iPod skin.
I've read in the forums and have followed the instructions here from Adobe. If you look at my code, I have
