ActionScript 2.0 :: Unable To Make Duplicate (Tiled) Backgrounds?
Aug 9, 2006
from this tutorials, instead of duplicating both X and Y planes, I want it to only duplicate Xfor example, http://nano3.orgyou can see the grey fading into white, I just want the fade in my flash which is already an image.
I'm trying to fill a movieclip with a seamless pattern, so in essense its pretty much the same as Kirupa's Duplicate Background tutorial. I'm having trouble converting the AS from filling the background to filling a movieclip
Here's the original code: [AS]tileBG = function () { tile_width = 34;
how to make a tiled background in Flash. how to change the tiled background to something different. The scenario for example is each section of the site the background has the same tiled background but just different colors. I've made all 4 different tiled background now all I need to do is make them switch out when a link/button is triggered.
I'm working on my site and I have a random background script setup. Heres the code that Im using now.[code]...
Now I love the way thats its working and but one thing that is kinda crappy is that sometimes it suffers from repeating the same background a couple of times before going to another random background. Now I know that its because the script is working properly but can anyone think of a method that I could use to make it not be able to pull up the last background that it has already loaded? I dont want to make it static because not only do I have this setup for when you enter the site but also its random when you click on one of the nav buttons because I want to try to keep my site dynamic.
I have a site that plays either .mp3 or .flv files depending on what is selected from the menu. Menu loads in from xml. I get "unable to make connection with server or unable to find flv on server" when I try to play the video. But the video and audio files are all in the same directory and the mp3 files play fine. I think I'm having a problem with the setMedia command. Here's the code that loads the video and audio files.
I was wondering how would i make a mc appear when a hittest takes place at the location of the hittest. What im trying to do it make a Mortal kombat game and i want when u say uppercut them the mc of blood appears at that hittests location. So is it possible for it to like detect where the hittest took place and duplicate the mc there?
I am creating a space game in AS3. In order to show movement while keeping your space ship in the center of the screen I would like to move the background (in the opposite direction that the space ship is moving). I would like the background to tile so that if you ever reach the end of one background image it will place another one right next to it seamlessly. I have worked out the code to move the tiles to the right place at the right time, however whenever the tile is repositioned due to the ship reaching the edge, there is a brief period of lag.
I am attempting to create a loop that will (as long as 'i' less than or equal to 'howManyX') create an instance variable of 'BgLogo' and add it to the stage...in essence I am trying to tile the instances.Is this even the best approach?If yes, or no, what am I overlooking in my code below.If this isn't the best approach, what would be?
I'm creating flash site which will have different backgrounds for each page. I'll load the individual pages with "MovieClipLoader." My understanding about MovieClipLoaders is that, it doesn't matter the background of your mc, the page to which you are loading will maintain it's background.
I have a movieClip in my metronome you can see here: When I resize the metronome the tiled movie clip I use for the decorative borders resizes as well and I would like it to tile more images when it is resizedI would like more tiles and I want them to be their original size.
I'm trying to create a repeating tiled background. I've also attached the FLA (tiledBg issue.zip) so you can test it for yourself. The code works well, but it's acting weird when resizing the stage. It looks like new tiles appear on top of the existing one, thus darkening the screen. Just take a look at the screen capture to see what I mean. and here's the code I used:
I am following the tutorial here: [URL]. And all that happens is I get one copy of my image in the bottom right corner, not tiled. I have copied the code exactly. How to create a tiled background image? Using Flash MX.
Im building a website fully with flash and there is the typical navigation bar to get to the other parts of the site..
each part of the site has a different background photo and I would like to fade out/In each background of the site...
if it would be linear on the time line its obviously just a matter of motion tweens and alpha values.. .but how to do it if one wants to jump say from section 6 to 1 and have background 6 blend with background 1 ?
I guess there is a way to create an if statement in ActionScript ?
If there is anyone out there, and im sure there are, who has any good methods for creating clean looking seamless pattern looking backgrounds for the web?!
Is it possible to dynamically load a JPEG image and use it as a tiled background for a fullscreen flash movie?Everything I see online is for bitmaps already loaded in the library.
I have been trying to find a way to color the backgrounds of different words in a single textfield with different colors.
For an example, lets imagine the whole text is a story which has nouns and verbs...etc Now I want to show the full text which is my story and highlight the background of nouns in blue, verbs in red.
Then I have dedicated toggle buttons for each types. The use of those buttons is removing or showing those backgrounds. For an example and when user clicks on noun button it will remove or show the background of all the nouns. Same for the button for verbs.
Then you may ask why I can't achieve this by using separate textfield for each word in the story and line them like a paragraph. The problem is user should be able to edit those text. So those are INPUT typed textfields. So all the words should move within the boundaries of paragraph when user keep changing one word. see the second attachment and you may see that I have changed the first word by typing "abcde", so as I type all other words should move like you type inside a textfield. So thats why I think if we can achieve it using single textfield rearranging words as user types is taken care of the textfiled so we don't need to place all the words manually.
When I was trying to think of a way to do it, I found that background is only a property of TextField, but not TextFormat. If it was a property of textformat then I could have set different formats for different words in same textfield. So that option is out.
Also I thought of using CSS with htmlText. But unfortunately text-background is not supported by actionscript stylesheet class.
I'm building a game that is relatively heavy. I load the essential assets before rendering the game, such as sounds, classes, movieclips and bitmaps. Now my question is... There are some none essential assets that I want to load in the background and not in the main load to speed things up for the user. But, apart from consuming the user's bandwidth...I have the feeling the animations slow down if they are running while the assets are loading in the background.
I've successfully created a class which extends List to create a List with different coloured backgrounds depending on a colour property of the ArrayCollection used as a dataProvider. Technique is described here:
[URL]
I'm now trying to do the same thing in a ComboBox. I know it's possible with either a classFactory or extending the ComboBox but I really can't work out how - there is so little information on things like the classFactory around.
I'm trying to write some apps that will include some image processing for facial, object recognition. There's a ton of stuff out there (mostly from 2009) that doesn't work very well and I want to give it a try.
Anyway, I have the webcam feeding a video object I've addChild()ed to the stage and that works aces. I want to make a copy of that video stream and plop it on the stage right next to it. This works, but the framerate suffers:
Code: public function update(event):void { //onEnterFrame var bmp:BitmapData = new BitmapData(_video.width/5,_video.height/5);
[Code]....
So this puts a pixelated version of the webcam feed right next to it just like I wanted, but it seems to lug down the processor. Logic would tell me that I'm piling on infinate amounts of "goat" to my movieClip (mc). I try to dispose() the bmp, but then it stops working.
I am creating a website where the entire background is tiled and it also contains a photo gallery. Now, the photo gallery has to only appear within a limited height but the width could be similar to the browser window. (The website will be a full browser website with a capability of going fullscreen.). I tried a lot of things but the stage calculation requires to be a little different than the general stage properties.
In general, the height and width of the image is directly proportional to those of the stage. But what I am looking at is for the image to be rescaled proportionally to the width of the stage but the height nneds to be about 20-30% less than the height of the actual stage. Basically the background will be visible in that 20-30% of empty space. (And of course other elements)
My scaling of the image code looks like following, Code: function scalePic():void { if ((stageHeight / stage.stageWidth) < imHeight) { im.width = stage.stageWidth; im.height = imHeight * im.width; [Code] ..... And it also centers the image on the stage based on the new stage size.
I've been tasked by a client to make a scaling flashsite that changes background through the various pages. In addition some of the other objects need to scale to page as well.
[URL]
This is the page in its current form. The background and the buttons on that layer scale with the size of the browser window. But if you click "who is the Rabblerouser" the box with text opens and I'd rather that not scale or atleast scale to a smaller size. I realize its scaling because its on the movie that the action script is set to scale... so I don't know what the best practice is here. All of the example sites with scaling pages had one background
I still need to code a PHP mailer and put in a video when the client supplies it.
I don't know whether anybody here's been to [URL] before, but if you'll notice, the site's background doesn't appear to tile, yet continually re-fills the browser window upon re-size while still loading quickly.
Is it possible to load backgrounds for the thumbnails in tutorial http:[url]...Now I have a mc containing multiple white backgrounds at 65x65px, which loads and places it under the loaded thumbnails (like a mask), but I would rather like it to load a singel mc, seperatly for each thumbnail. How can I do that?
I have to duplicate a movie clip on a movie, to make an endless scrolling menu. The problem is I don't know real well how to do it, I can do it fine with graphics but it looks like not possible to do it with mc.here's a sample of my code I am trying to attemp
Code: var refFirst:MovieClip = MovieClip(menuGroup.getChildAt(0)); var copyFirst:test1 = new test1; trace (refFirst.name);
