Can someone tell me if there is a way to get the action script used for the mouse trail, and the changing pictures effect on this web site? It is the only mouse action script that I have seen to work well in just about any web browser to date. [URL]
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to do mouse trails in Flash MX, but having some problems. Tutorials are a little unclear. Do you first place your image or text on the main timeline and then actionscript or do you create a movie button, script that and drag onto stage?
View 5 RepliesI stumbled upon a tutorial from a few years back. It basically set up a rolling text mouse trail.I altered it so I could start the mouse trail with a button, but have yet to figure out how to stop it.

In the tutorial it mentions the 'for loop' in the code. Does this mean I can not stop it once it starts? I hope not. I'd really like to give the user an option for turning off the mouse trail if they find it obtrusive.

View 3 RepliesUgh how to start...Each thumbnail image is a link which enlarges to an easel to the right with a neat effect. If you move the cursor over a thumbnail it has a little effect on it (very transparent "snow" like on a TV screen) I don't know why Flash keeps "moving" (if you call it that) the snow effect on top of the thumbnails when I open the file at a later time. All I remember doing is just editing simple text and swapping one bitmap thats not even tied to the thumbnails.
I can still click the thumbnails and they open to the right just fine. I just don't get why the "effect/link" moves on top of the thumbnails. If I delete the snow it deletes every effect on the website so they won't enlarge to the right. I don't care if I lose the effect but I don't remember/know how to make each thumbnail a link so they open on the spot I want.
I have a Flash-file, which I downloaded at a page. Now I am changing some things and this error is occuring: SecurityError #2000. The Flash-file loads an XML-file and in this XML-file, there are some paths to some picture files. All paths are valid and the pictures exists. When I changed the picture (and path), I get this SecurityError. My next idea was to replace the picture, but the path should be the original. When I did this, I got the old picture, not the new. I was wondering how to recreate the effect that this site has when transitioning between pages. [URL] As you can see, there is a very nice fade out, then in effect. I know that u can fade in with a motion tween, but when u click the next link, the page just jumps into the next one instead of fading. How can I get that fading both in and out effect?
View 2 RepliesI'm building a site that will change the background depending time of day. I do want to show the time in the top of my page. What are good codes for showing a time and date in Flash and what would I use to change background depending on if the time is past 7PM or before.
Example.
If the time is before 7PM I want it to show a background with a clear blue sky. If not then the background will be a starry night. I'm using CS3.
I've been tasked by a client to make a scaling flashsite that changes background through the various pages. In addition some of the other objects need to scale to page as well.

This is the page in its current form. The background and the buttons on that layer scale with the size of the browser window. But if you click "who is the Rabblerouser" the box with text opens and I'd rather that not scale or atleast scale to a smaller size. I realize its scaling because its on the movie that the action script is set to scale... so I don't know what the best practice is here. All of the example sites with scaling pages had one background

I want to know what the best method is for changing the values of variables that need to persist amongst all users of my site?For example, say I have a button that can only pressed 10 times. And not 10 times by a single user during a single session, I mean 10 times between every user who ever visits my site. How would I keep a running count?

The problem now is that changes of myFormat (in size or color) don't have any effect on the text in the text fields. Why is this and how can I improve this? Did I forget to import a certain class again?
I'm trying to do a cross-fade effect for my gallery. To do that, I'm using two movieclips, one that holds the image currently displayed, and another one that holds the image that should be displayed next. When the coming image is loaded, the cross-fade effect should happen, the container that holds the image that was on stage should be cleared out, then the image in the other container should be displaced to the former container.

I'm having two problems. First of all, the gallery loads all pictures at once. The more pictures in the XML file, the slower they all load. Secondly, I wanted the pictures to scroll in its _y coordinate, similar to Sugar Rhyme's website portfolio (see url]...).

I have some htmlText in a textField inside a MovieClip on the timeline. The MovieClip has a little (CS3) timeline motion tween on it - it grows and shrinks once. The htmlText is populated beforehand via ActionScript and the entire SWF sits inside a preloader "shell" that handles loading it and adding it to the displayList.
When the text expands - it looks fine. When it shrinks, the HTML bullets (UL and LI items) leave "trails" behind - and thus create a "streak". The funny thing is, if later on I move the playhead forward using gotoAndPlay(), the streaks disappear, even though it's not moving to a new keyframe for that MovieClip. So it's clearly a screen refresh issue.
I tried turning runtime bitmap caching on, and the bullets did not display whatsoever.

Stage only has that green rectangle on it. If I remove it nothing changes. If I change line thickness to 6 trails does not appear, at 7 and higher they appear. You can check SWF here: [URL]. How do I make it work correctly?
Update: If I change that rectangle shape to something star-like with sharp angles, trails appear even on lower thickness values (trails appear when thickness == 3 or more).
