I stumbled upon a tutorial from a few years back. It basically set up a rolling text mouse trail.I altered it so I could start the mouse trail with a button, but have yet to figure out how to stop it.

In the tutorial it mentions the 'for loop' in the code. Does this mean I can not stop it once it starts? I hope not. I'd really like to give the user an option for turning off the mouse trail if they find it obtrusive.
I'm trying to do mouse trails in Flash MX, but having some problems. Tutorials are a little unclear. Do you first place your image or text on the main timeline and then actionscript or do you create a movie button, script that and drag onto stage?
Can someone tell me if there is a way to get the action script used for the mouse trail, and the changing pictures effect on this web site? It is the only mouse action script that I have seen to work well in just about any web browser to date. [URL]

I have a movie clip that runs in its own timeline. I want to stop the movie clip from playing whenever the mouse is clicked (in this application I am actually using a touch screen and I want the movie clip to stop playing whenever the screen is touched). In addition, I want the movie to rewind back to frame one so that none of the movie clip images are left on the screen.
Ive just recently begun using bitmapData for various things, and I decided to create game around it. So Ive been working on this project for weeks now and for some reason i cannot fix this. Ok, so when I use the applyFilter(); Method it cuts my FPS IN HALF!

I have some htmlText in a textField inside a MovieClip on the timeline. The MovieClip has a little (CS3) timeline motion tween on it - it grows and shrinks once. The htmlText is populated beforehand via ActionScript and the entire SWF sits inside a preloader "shell" that handles loading it and adding it to the displayList.
When the text expands - it looks fine. When it shrinks, the HTML bullets (UL and LI items) leave "trails" behind - and thus create a "streak". The funny thing is, if later on I move the playhead forward using gotoAndPlay(), the streaks disappear, even though it's not moving to a new keyframe for that MovieClip. So it's clearly a screen refresh issue.
I tried turning runtime bitmap caching on, and the bullets did not display whatsoever.
Stage only has that green rectangle on it. If I remove it nothing changes. If I change line thickness to 6 trails does not appear, at 7 and higher they appear. You can check SWF here: [URL]. How do I make it work correctly?
Update: If I change that rectangle shape to something star-like with sharp angles, trails appear even on lower thickness values (trails appear when thickness == 3 or more).

I am having this issue with Flash CS5:After making an animation, I export movie as Quicktime. When I view this movie it?well I am not sure what it is doing. The animation leaves trails of color when an object moves across the screen, leaving behind little bits of color too. Is it lagging? This does not happen when I export a SWF, but it does happen when I export a Quicktime movie.I export using Quicktime, so I can then import it into iMovie, to add titles, and sound and others things, or perhaps I just want to add a little Flash movie to my iMovie project.

I've tried to create this rollover navigation...starting over 6 times already. Is there different language / coding for 1.0 and 2.0? I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
I'm new to Adobe Flash and especially new to Actionscript. Could somebody give an example and explain how to make and "Ignore *this* command if..." style command. Here's what I want to achieve:I have made a button (I may have done it in an odd way but it works) that moves when the mouse hovers over it and then moves back when the mouse moves away. I plan to put the finished product into Dreamweaver and have tried what I've done so far and it works. The problem is that if I move the mouse away before the first animation of the button has finished. It doesn't reach the *Mouse Out* command and then just sticks/stops in the bit where I have put a *stop* command.Basically, what I want is a way to ignore a command if something happens earlier on (such as the cursor being moved away).I've tried to explain the best I can without actually screenshotting it and copying commands.
I have a movie clip with a stop command on frame 1 and a stop command on frame 20.I'm trying to have two separate buttons that tell the MC (onRollOver) to play forward or to play backwards.

I have designed a menu that When you mouse over it, a custom cursor appears. When you mouse down it disappears and when you mouse up it returns. If you happen to mouse down and then drag the mouse off of the menu (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up outside the menu, the custom cursor disappears. All good. The only issue is: If you happen to mouse down on the menu and then drag the mouse off of the menu AND off of the stage, i.e the SWF (whilst in mouse down) and then mouse up completely off of the stage, the custom cursor appears at the point it left the menu. I have tried to fix this using MOUSE_LEAVE but this dosnt work when the mouse button is pressed down. I have attached an FLA, SWF and the AS below.
I have created a SWF file that streams an FLV file.What I would like to do, is have an actionscript command activate AFTER the FLV has played to the end of the movie.
I am new to Flash and working with a site template that uses a xml data file. In the animation there are a couple of 'read more' links that when pressed, the movie animates to a read more screen with basic info depending on which it is (read more 1, read more 2, ...) In Flash I have added an image on one of the main pages and I would like it to link to the same readmore just as one of the text links does.
The xml has the following line for editing the text, so I see how it is calling the readme page with asfunction, but I have no idea how to use actionscript (or behaviors?) within the flash document to mimic this with an image as the link. I am guessing its something simple but I have yet to stumble upon it.[code]...
Are there known issues regarding the getURL command in Firefox 3.5?I made a very simple flash movie with some getURL commands and they work in IE7 and IE8 but not in Firefox 3.5.[code]I just tested in Opera (9.24) and it doesn't work either...

Ive got my up, down, hover states to work perfectly but the state hit i just cant seem to figure out what it does. What im looking for, is for someone to help me with, when a user lets say clicks on 'Home', i want that link to stay 'red' so that user knows its on 'Home Webpage'.
I dont know if i have to add code in flash for it to do that or if its done by the hit function. Because ive set which colour hit should be, but when i hit/activate the 'Home Webpage', it wont stay a solid colour, to show its active. It just goes back to its original colour after doing hover/down/hit.

I've noticed on some flash sites I can hit command + (on a mac) and the browser window will resize but i've noticed with some .swf files, it doesn't work. It keeps the .swf the same size but increases the size of everything else around it. I've been looking into this issue for two days and I've been trying a bunch of examples from what i've been finding but nothing seems to work.
I've built my web site using the ZigoEngine (mosesupposes)... I'm also calling my images dynamically from a folder.The problem is that the following code is making a conflict with the button which swithes the next image. If i remove the code, it works. However the purpose of thezigo is completely different and I can't see the connection..
