Is it possible to delete the contents of a local XML file using a Flash CS5 document being played on the desktop and using AS3?
Ok i have done some research but still no luck. I was going to use a separate batch file with a windows command that did what I needed but since I will be calling the fscommand once a second the dos window would pop up a lot.
Are there any thirdy party plugins that will allow flash to run windows commands?

I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?

I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:

All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.

From an Adobe Air application, I need a function to launch the Windows Virtual Keyboard (c:windowssystem32osk.exe). I tried the Native Process, but it didn't work when telling it to execute cmd.exe /C osk.exe. How should I launch the keyboard application from an Adobe Air application?

I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?

Here's what I want to achieve:I have made a button (I may have done it in an odd way but it works) that moves when the mouse hovers over it and then moves back when the mouse moves away. I plan to put the finished product into Dreamweaver and have tried what I've done so far and it works. The problem is that if I move the mouse away before the first animation of the button has finished. When we use NetConnection in combination with a NetGroup to initiate communication between two local AIR applications on Windows XP, they always both connect to the NetGroup succesfully and detect each other as neighbors. These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. On Windows 7 however, they cannot.Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on Windows 7 and what steps can be taken to make it work? Ive got my up, down, hover states to work perfectly but the state hit i just cant seem to figure out what it does. What im looking for, is for someone to help me with, when a user lets say clicks on 'Home', i want that link to stay 'red' so that user knows its on 'Home Webpage'.
I dont know if i have to add code in flash for it to do that or if its done by the hit function. Because ive set which colour hit should be, but when i hit/activate the 'Home Webpage', it wont stay a solid colour, to show its active. It just goes back to its original colour after doing hover/down/hit.

View 5 RepliesI want it so that when you click a button, it will run a multiplayer game and connect to a server, WITHOUT having any .bat or .exe files beforehand. So any new guy can rock up and connect, just as long as he has the game.
If you run Jedi Academy multiplayer like this:

It will run the game and connect to a certain server. The problem is, how do I get Flash to do that without any premade .exes with command lines?
The only other problem I can think of is, is it possible to run the game without knowing the directory the exe is in? In other words, could Flash find the game .exe if it was just given a name?
why the png function differs from jpeg in flash when the break command is put to use.when i import a logo png into flash and then go to modify>break apart all .the logo then has a rectangle full of black dots and i cant keep just the logoso its hard to remove and keep just the logo required.but importing a jpeg and then using the command modify>bitmap>trace bitmap i get a good result with none of those multiple black small dots.now what id like to know is,if a png can have the command=modify>bitmap>trace bitmap applied to it.i would have upload a file for better explanation but...they have been disabled for a while.

I'm using a trace() command, but it's not outputting anything in the Console window of Flash Builder (is that where it's supposed to place stuff?). However, I'm wondering why the trace() command is even needed because the Variables tab in the debug perspective contains all the variable values anyway. Is the trace() command redundant or otherwise useful somehow in this environment, or is it intended for command line debugging, etc. (non-Flash Builder environment).

View 1 RepliesI was wondering whether it is possible to start Flash CS4 (or any other Flash version) authoring using a command. The project is related to a virtual supermarket. The client needs to delete existing products (jpg) from its web site and replace them with new ones. Basically I have a swf file which has one jpg file in each keyframe. What I want to do is to start Flash, access some keyframes delete some jpg files and load new ones and generate the new swf file. However, I want to do this automatically, ie; using a scheduler. Would Flex solve this problem?
