why the png function differs from jpeg in flash when the break command is put to use.when i import a logo png into flash and then go to modify>break apart all .the logo then has a rectangle full of black dots and i cant keep just the logoso its hard to remove and keep just the logo required.but importing a jpeg and then using the command modify>bitmap>trace bitmap i get a good result with none of those multiple black small dots.now what id like to know is,if a png can have the command=modify>bitmap>trace bitmap applied to it.i would have upload a file for better explanation but...they have been disabled for a while.

I have created drawings in Adobe Flash and saved them as .fla files. However, when I try to save the files as JPEGs beyond a certain resolution (such as 4000x4000 pixels), the image gets altered. Essentially, it get's cropped, but some background is left in the remaining pixels.

I was trying to erase(using eraser tool) some portions of the jpeg file after importing it in flash.. It does not work....I even converted it to symbol but the problem remains the same. Is it permitted or I am following the wrong approach.
I had another issue with a swf file..It plays perfect in the flash player...But when the same file is imported & played in the After Effects, it displays a still frame..

Ive been doing Photoshop work for some time and am now looking into doing some flash for my website. If you look at my header on my site http:[url].. it is a Jpeg at the momment for the title. What I want to know is that if i replace the header with flash is there away that I can add code so that if someone has a low bandwidth connection it would not load the flash and use the Jpeg image instead. The reason being is I know how bad it is waiting for flash to load on some websites when bandwidth is limited and it would be good to give people the option upon loading.

I've figured out how to link texted but I've made custom made text with design in it in photoshop. I imported them into my animated menu and I don't see a link option for the jpeg texted I exported out of photoshop. It links fine if I type the text in flash but the pictures I need to link.

I have a movie that loads images from an external source based on paths contained within an .xml. As far as I can see, there is no restriction to the size of the loaded image, which are are JPEGs, hence flash will not have these images resized. The images look fine when loaded in Photoshop or viewed separately, but the quality is just awful when loaded within the movie.
I've tried the usual hints like increasing JPEG quality in Publish Settings, but understand that since these images are not imporated into Flash CS5 before compiling, but are instead loaded when the .swf is run, these settings would not have any effect.

I'm looking for a plugin or command so I can swap all the colors in a selected symbol. the find and search thing doesnt quite do it well. It needs to affect anything in a group within that symbol. I was also wondering if there was a way to convert fills back to lines or if there is a plugin for that too. Ineed it for flash pro 8, I know its old.

I would like to know what's the exact command line used to install flash from swflash.cab. Seems that would be something like 'rundll32 advpack.dll...', and I know that FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER.EXE uses the switch RegServer from the .inf.
A completely silent command line would be nice to!

How does one edit a graphic then have the ability to choose in properties Colour Effect options like alpha or brightness or tint in properties ?
Bringing an .ai file into library then creating a MovieClip of it, I am able to alter colour alpha or brightness or tint etc in properties via Colour Effect option. Use break apart to delete a simple box from part of the artwork and the colour aspects just applied vanish, its back to its original aspect. Try grouping the artwork but still no options now. Same applies if I just place the graphic on stage or open the graphic from the Library.
Try it a different way, bring it in and break apart, then edit the artwork then group it to see if properties has colour effect option for it but still no joy. Try converting it to graphic after editing and giving it a new name, it vanishes, nothing visible even if I select that graphic in library.
It seems that the only way to apply Colour Effect in properties for a graphic or MovieClip is to NOT edit its contents when placed on stage. I cannot bring it in without needing to edit it as the program making the ai. adds a box that I dont need, border of the page in that program in fact.

I am starting to learn how to use Flash. I am trying a simple exercise of creating text, breaking it apart, then distribute the objects to layers. When I do this, the layers in the timeline box appeared not in order, intead of Top to Bottom, the letters appeared Bottom to Top (See attached picture).

I want to duplicate a symbol that contains text, but when I change the text in the duplicate symbol, the original's text changes too. This is really annoying. Is there a way I can "break" this association to the original symbol so the duplicate becomes independent

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to use a .ICO file instead of a .PNG or .JPEG file in my Flash project. Is this even possible? The reason I'm asking is that the project I'm putting together uses ActionScript 2.0 code (not sure if that makes a difference or not) and displays a bunch of images for a bunch of different applications. So instead of creating a .PNG file for each application, since I've already got .ICO files on hand, I'd rather use those (saving me a ton of time).

Now the SWF is to big bc there all .png files, i tried to go into properties and change there .png to .jpeg but its a very looooong process, is there any way to highlight them all and either change them but updating the .pngs to .jpeg files ?

I'm expecting a bunch of different animations that were made in Flash CS3 as JPEG sequences, however, many of the animations contain seperate timelines that contain seperate movie clips. When I view it as an SWF, everything looks PERFECT, all the movie clips within the animation are moving like they should and it looks awesome. But when I export it as a JPEG sequence, the parts of the timeline that are seperate movie clips and in their own timelines are completely static and don't move.What settings do I need to have set so that, when I export it, the JPEG sequence looks and behaves just like the SWF?

I am new to Flash CS5 and I have created a slide show. I am trying to reduce the .swf file size for faster loading. I have been trying to adjust the size using the jpeg quality slider, but it doesn't seem to function whether I set it to 0 or 100 or anywhere in between. Publishing always generates the same size swf file.

I have a command script (framesSelected.jsfl - the code isbelow) which outputs information about frames selected to theoutput panel, which I find very useful. With CS4 (Windows XP), whenI place the jsfl file in the (suggested in the manual) folder(C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash CS4enConfigurationCommands)I expect it to show in the command menu as it did in CS3. Inherited some flash widgets that are developed in .fla format and exported to .swf apps, using Flash Pro CS5. I have only limited understanding of AS3 or 4, flex and flash in general, but I'm quickly becoming dangerous.
My bottom line problem is I need to find a command line tool to 'build' the .fla source into .swf entities.
q1: are there any cmd line tools with the Flash Pro CS5 for such purpose? I cant seem to find any, but I may not be looking at the right places.
I know there's such a thing as the Flex SDK, but what's under Flash CS5 at "Adobe Flash CS5CommonConfigurationActionScript 3.0flex_sdk", doesn't seem to have anything useful in it, only a general flex library.
Another requirement I need to solve is to create customer specific, purpose built versions of the widget.
From the Flash IDE, I can figure out how to replace the background images, etc., but.q2: how can I do this at export/build time and later on, via the command line tool?
Basically, a build/compile directive in source would allow the swf builder to replace a given image asset with the version I intend to build with.

in Flash CS4 I have static text like: Line1 and line2 It's in 9 point Arial Regular as a device font. If I set the line spacing below 3.9 the second line dissappears from the compiled SWF file. It still shows in the FLA file. The same thing happens at 6pt but NOT at 5pt or less.

I don't really know that much about Commands in Flash, but I was thinking this could be a possible Command to create.See, I have this puppet made up of dozens of separate pieces, all on their own layers.It's very tedious to click on 10 different symbols in order to move the character's arm, for example.I was wondering if there was a way to create a JSFL command to select each of the 10 symbols on the stage.
I tried clicking each one, and saving the "Change Selection" actions from the History Panel as a Command, but that is location-based.As soon as I move those symbols to a new location, the command I saved no longer selects them.And I can't select the objects by layer or frame, because it doesn't seem to want to save those either.

I have build a hybrid site where the navigation at the top is Flash, and the bottom is html. On all the pages, I have used straight html with no frames. That's all fine, but the client has one page that must be loading an external page into a frame. So I have a frameset where the top frame has the Flash navigation and the bottom frame loads the external link. This works fine, but then when I click to one of the other links in the Flash navigation, it loads that page into the frame where the Flash movie (nav) is. I tried to set the links in the Flash nav to the window being _self, and _top, and this just loads it in a new window.
