ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop A Sound File That Is In Timeline?
Apr 4, 2010
I have a sound that I have imported into my library and I'm playing it in my timeline by adding it to a keyframe. I want it to go away when I move to scene 2. In action script 2.0, there was a script that I used that was "stopAllSounds()", but that doesn't work in 3.0. Is there a quick fix to stop all sounds or one sound on my timeline?
Basically im trying to stop sound playing from a timeline. My little swf plays and has music playing from a separate layer. and when i mouse down on it i have action script 3 that jumps to a dif frame and starts playing a new anim and sound layer. but the previous sound layer keeps playing to the end. Is there anyway to stop the sound layer playing at the same time that i jump to a new frame?
Is there any way we can stop the sound embeded in timeline directly?
We have an application that load SWF dynamically. These external SWF are not created by our company and other company has embed the sound in timeline. without use of any actionscript or anything.
Now we need to provide the MUTE option for our user, is there any way We can simply disable all kind of sound in any mode from our ActionScript code.
I've been making the transition from AS2 to AS3 for the last week and am making progress. But I'm having a problem that hopefully someone can help me with. I'm using Flash CS5. I have a fairly simple Flash website I'm working on. I have sections on the timeline like Home, About, Photos, Media ... all set up using labels for each of those sections. Everything is working fine but when I go to my Media section where I have a video placed (using the flv component) I'm having a problem as follows:
The video auto plays fine when I go to the Media section but when I attempt to leave the section and go to another the sound of the video doesn't stop. It continues to play when I go to another section and if I go back to the section it starts again. The video is not there when I go to another section which is the part that's confusing me. In AS2 when I did this the video and the sound both stopped because you went to another section on the timeline. Why is the sound of the video not stopping in AS3?
I have added some three sound clips, play pause buttons, on the root timeline in a movie with corresponding callouts. I am able to stop all sounds on the main timeline by below
stop_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, stopSound); function stopSound(event:MouseEvent) { SoundMixer.stopAll(); }
But now how do I resume all the sound to play. In sort, mute unmute root sounds in AS3.
I am having a bit of a problem with the playback of a certain sound in my published file. I have a sound attached to a frame in my timeline and I have it as a stream so that it plays extactly where I want it to in the movie. When I publish my movie, however, the sound plays about 2-3 seconds before it's supposed to. I tried putting another sound file in its place and the other file plays early as well. The sound will also start early if it is an event
Is there any param value... or anything else I can use to stop the sound in an .flv file I'm streaming from the server?
I do not have the original video that the flv was created with... otherwise this would be a no brainer. I want to keep the video up but take away the sound
I'm creating a flash of a piano in which you hit a button and it plays that key. I have a single file of the entire scale, and I tried to put a stop(); command after each note- however it's not stopping. Shouldn't the stop command respond to the actionscript since the sound file is in the timeline?
Here's a link to the FLA file- I've barely started working on it, so it's hardly coded except for the stop actionscript. music_scale.fla
Pause and Resume external SWF sound filesI have this code that plays the sound through linkage. It reside in scene1.fla -> scene1.swf.
var mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("mc",1);var myLoop:Sound = new Sound(mc);myLoop.attachSound("bg_sound");myLoopVolume=0;myLoop.setVolume(myLoopVolume); mc.onEnterFrame = function () { if (fadeIn01==1) {
the method for stopping/playing sound in 2.0 don't work for 3.0. i can stop the sound by going to a different page/frame on the site.but i want the buttons.
I'm new to Actionscripting and I want to add a sound file to my project with controls to stop and play and a volume slider. I'm using this actionscript for the controls. It works but right now you need to click the play button for it to start. Is there a different way to write it so that the music starts playing when the scene starts, and then the user can stop or play it again and change the volume?[code]
I want to attach a sound to the main timeline (rollover sound) that i can call from on(rollover) button events. I will be attaching the same sound to several buttons.

I just got Flash CS3. I'm trying to get my main timeline to stop in the begining, on button press to play and at the end stop again. In AS2, you would just put stop(); on the first keyframe and stop(); on the last key frame and program your buttons accordingly.
The stop(); does not work!!!! It's driving me crazy. What am I missing? I've gone through the tutorials in Flash and they don't work either.Also, if you have MovieClip that contains an animation and you don't want the movie clip to be on a continuous loop how do you stop it from playing. In AS2, I would put a stop(); on the last keyframe of the movieclip's animation. This also does not work in AS3.
I have a bit of a problem with sound.. I have a main container animation with background sound that's loaded with soundChannel..I also have an externally loaded SWFs with Movie Clip buttons that have a sound ON ROLLOVER on the timeline..after rolling off - I place the:SoundMixer.stopAll();to stop the button from playing the sound once the mouse is rolled off.. However, the problem I'm running into is that it also stops the sound of the main container movie cli
I am using FLASH CS3.I have gone through many posts, seems to be an issue with many people.Still haven't come across a fix.Website made in FLASH. Flash movie loads and sound works great!I have a button with 'StopAllSounds' action script.[code]When I go back to main page... sound starts up again.Is there a way I can stop all sound regardless of where the visitor goes on the website?
I'm sure this is a common problem, I tried looking around on the forum for a problem like mine but was unable to find anything. I'm using Flash CS3, Actionscript 2.0, and am making a soundboard. I have two scenes, one that's the title screen, of which has a sound file loaded via the timeline, (I think) set to Event and Loop, and a button which takes you to the next scene and makes a short sound when it's pressed. My second scene has background music as well, also set to Event and Loop.
Problem is that when I press the button, the background music keeps playing into the next scene. I tried using putting stopAllSounds onto the button, but that makes the sound of the button stop as well, and I'd really like to keep it. I've been messing with this for days, and I can't figure it out.
i want to make a single button to play a sound, and if pressed again, stop the sound. and if pressed again, play the sound, and so on... i know it has to be made with a boolean variable, true/false, but i just can't figure out how.
my reverse button causes the timeline to ignore the stop() function on its keyframe and play backwards all the way to the start. Since it keeps trying to play the previous frame, it's frozen at frame 1.
Code:
stop() // Reverse button // var reverse:Boolean; rev_btn.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, down );
I have to play a sound file and show the progress of the sound file being played. I am using import flash.media.Sound; import flash.media.SoundChannel; But the PROGRESS event gives theprogress of loading of file. I want to know of much of the song has been played and how much more is left.
I want to use a sound loop in my flash movie. The movie has many scenes. And the problem is that when I go to next scene or different scene I hear the sound repeating twice. I mean sound does not stop from first scene and begins from the different scenes.Is there any way to play sound like "stop all sound" option in Flash.
I'm having some trouble getting the following code to work - trying to use the new Sound.extract() function to get two seconds of a Sound into a ByteArray, and then create a new bytearray with a WAV header, and then output the file. The resulting 'test.wav' file sounds very wrong although slightly recognisable? I think I may have some of the WAV header settings may be wrong but I'm not quite sure what's the matter and after a long time scratching
I have a long mp3 file hosted on a standard apache server (30 minutes long so far, but I would like it to work with longer sounds too).I'd like to start playback of this audio within at a specified point. When attempting to use Flash Actionscript 3, my basic tests show that ALL the audio from the start to the position I choose is buffered before playback (Sound.bytesLoaded was my friend here). If I start one second in, it takes about 3 seconds to start playback, 30 seconds in, takes about 25 secondsObviously with a really long mp3, like skipping playback to the middle of a 3-hour audiobook, this isn't going to be practical.Here's the ActionScript 3.0 code I'm using:
button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, function():void { var s:Sound = new Sound(); var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://example.com/audio.mp3");
It's possible to play a sound file through AS, either by loading it from a folder or import it to flash. It's also possible to play a dynamic tone with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat.
But... is it possible to play a sound file with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat in some way? I want to play a sound file without having to deal with any files except the .swf!
How do I stop a class file from automatically inserting itself into the .fla file. I want to insert it manually into a frame, and then tell it to stop after I leave the frame.The following is the code included in my .as file.
To make a preloader work on frame 1 I can't use 'export to first frame' on a library sound file. This would mess up my preloader. So I deselected that option and instead dragged the sound file (with 'export for actionscript' still selected) to frame 2. Frame 1 would include the preloader part but for testing purposes I just placed gotoAndPlay(3) there. This would immediately skip frame 2 (with the sound file) and continue from frame 3. Frame 3 would later be the start for the main movie. But for now I just placed this code:
var my_sound:Sound = new Sound(); my_sound.attachSound("soundfile.mp3"); my_sound.start(); Testing the movie I found out that the sound played twice on top of each other. So I replaced above code with comment lines:
