ActionScript 3.0 :: Use A Loop To Automatically Put Vars On An Array?
Apr 21, 2010
I have a class called FC. I want to automatically put all instances of it on an array. I think the best way to do this would be to use a loop. I would usually use a For Loop to automatically add code to object by having flashplayer run through the display list. However, instances of my class are not added to the display list. How can I automatically apply code to them?
I built this site out in as2 and have to convert it to as3. It appears the same logic flow and coding just doesn't apply since everything has changed on an event level. The idea is to load thumbnails dynamically and upon clicking the thumbnail retrieve the loaded variable (i) in the array per the XML loop. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong in logic flow as it keeps coming up "undefined" or pulling up the last one after the whole thing's loaded. I'd copy the exact code but there's a lot of variables. So I'll post this basic structure to give an idea of what I'm doing. The bold print is where I'm stuck in terms of getting a trace.
I have created a movieclip. This movieclip will have 5 child Sprite's, which will contain an image pulled from xml. I want to create a for loop to create those 5 Sprite's, add the appropriate image into each one (i.e., img[0] into sprite[0]) and then add each sprite to the movieclip.
I've created a loop to define onPress functions for a group of movieclips. The code is here:
Code: var select:String = "none"; var elist:Array = ["dappled", "panda", "red", "blue", "green", "gray", "fire", "earth", "water", "garden"];
[Code]....
All the mcs now have an onPress function. However, they all define the "select" variable as the last item in the array. Is this because every mc is referencing the new curs? I'm not really sure... Is there a way I can fix this so select is given the correct (unique) value every time?
This should be an easy one for you pros AND novice alike. Im creating a single flash page with one F4V video on one key frame. simple. From what Ive read the SWF should loop automatically. But it doesnt. Is there AS3 code I can add to make it loop seamlessly? I made the F4V a movieclip in order to add some filters. eventually I'll add one button and thats it. This will be a splash page for a website.
So I have HTML page. with flash app on it. I vant to send an array to flash. How to do such thing using flashVars (I have something like uid=12&sid=12&sid=32&sid=12&sid=32) so i need to get dinamic andomeegunnown number of Sid's not losind UID how to du such thing?
btw I want to pass in an array of values and have it recognized by Flash as an Array object; For example, with POST and GET requests an array is formed as "field[]=value&field[]=value" etc.
I'm SO new to scripting. I find it all a bit daunting I have a Flash movie that runs for about 300 frames, then I'd like it to run backwards once it's reached the last frame, then play again from the beginning, and loop from there.
So really forward end frame reverse loop play again (loop) Is there an easy way to script this? I think I can figure out the first frame, but what would one put at the last frame?
I have just recently returned to flash after a very looooooooong time! I moved out of the flash world a few years ago and have been working in design for print. A friend has asked me to help create a flash slideshow for them. I know how to do this using older versions of flash but there seems to be a quicker way in CS3.I have selected from the opening menu, Flash Slide Presentation.I have created my slideshow and added transitions.Everything looks great however I can only progress the slideshow using the arrow keys.My question is...Using this slideshow setting can I set my slideshow to loop through the slides automatically instead of progress with the arrow keys?
I am putting together a small slideshow of pictures and it's only about 350 frames. I haven't worked with Flash since version 4.0, so I'm still trying to figure out Adobe's setup. 4.0's setup was so easy when it came to replaying a video once it hit the last keyframe, but I'm so lost in this ActionScript stuff.
How do I get the video to loop back and start playing again automatically?
i downloaded the sample file of making slide photos, but i just can't make it run and load pictures automatically and loop itself continuously. how do i do it without have to hit next or previous? and all done with action scripting only without using keyframes? can someone please provide codes for me to learn or use? I got a small animation, which starts by the "StartIt" function and keeps going with the "PlayIt" function by triggered by MyTimer. In "StartIt", I let AS save the positions and other stuff of my MC's in order to replace them to their original positions by "StopIt". But strangely, those Arrays keep changing to the MC's ACTUAL position according to the Timer triggered "PlayIt". "Universe" is a custom class, that only calculates new positions.
Code here: var PosxSave:Array = new Array(); var PosySave:Array = new Array(); var VabsSave:Array = new Array(); var VangSave:Array = new Array(); [Code] .....
I am trying out the following code, so that whenever I make a movieclip null, the array containing it's reference too becomes null. I understand the following code cannot do this, but I want somehow, the array can provide information, if the movieclip has got null.
import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event; var a_arr:Array = new Array(a_Mc,b_Mc); trace(a_arr); a_Mc= null ; trace(a_arr);
Output is: [object MovieClip],[object MovieClip] But I want something like null, [object MovieClip ]
I was wondering if anyone could help me achieve an outcome for a soccer game penalty shoot out. I have to put the two defenders and the goalie in an Array. they need to move at a set speed automatically to the left and right side of the goal.
ActionScript Code: var answerArray:Array = ["3", "2", "5", "3", "2"]; //these are the correct answers var answeredArray:Array = ["3", "1", "1", "3", "2"]; //this is an example of what the user
i couldn't find a tutorial on this matter so i sorta started making my own hypothesis... what i'm trying to do is: have a gallery of images automatically scrolling horizontally while having the set of images loop. like at[URL]..
here are a couple of my theories and questions for AS commands to have this work:
1) display a range of pixels of an image at certain positions, i.e. if gallery is scrolling to the left, leftmost image when its parts are disappearing out of the viewing area, they become visible at the right.
2) have two instances of each image and when an image is disappearing on left, the second instance of that image comes visible on the right. this I imagine would take up more HD space.
i guess what i was wondering more about is how jager did their gallery where there's only enough images are in a set to be viewed in the viewing area.
I have this flash movie I've been working on for awhile. I've received in these forums. I have my file set to load an array of swfs. Now, though, I'm wondering how to keep it from looping. At the end of the last swf, I want the movie to go to the last swf and then just stop. Here is my code:
I have this map I'm creating in Flash. You click on a state, then you can click on an icon to view a tooltip/popup of some information. What I was trying to do was instead of creating new functions and event listeners for every different icon is to use a for loop...but it's not going so well.[code]...
I've a container file which loads an array of SWFs. The code is as follows:
var request:URLRequest; var loader:Loader= new Loader(); stage.addChild(loader); var myMovies:Array=["../flash/movie1.swf","../flash/movie2.swf", "../flash/movie3.swf"]; var movieNum:int=0; var mcExternal:MovieClip; [Code] .....
This works fine - the array is loaded and plays through once... What changes are needed to get it to loop through the array.
how can i set an array by using a loop.. the array is contains by a data that i read from database.. so the length of carry depend of the length of data in my database..
i try to use for (var i:int = 0; i < xxx; i++) { products = [p[i]]; }
i never read data from database in as3.. so if i want to use the data in database for this loop,what should i do?
I'm having to make an array that has each value increase by a 10, like 10, 20, 30, etc. is there an easier way to put in those values without adding them 'manually'?
and I have another question that is related. For this same project, on the stage there will be a text box and the user will put in a number--how can that value be run through the array? like say I input the number 500, how does it find it in the array? is there a passed id, a listener and a broadcaster?
var myData = new Array(); myData["name"] = "John"; myData["Age"] = 35;
What is the syntax to loop through and get the key and value? I have tried for each and for in but they just give me the value of "John" or "35", how can I get the key e.g. "Name" and "Age"?
Is there a simple equivalent to what I used to do in AS2 to add a bunch of new objects to the stage and throw them into an array so they can easily be referenced? I'm finding this more difficult than it used to be.
Old code:
ActionScript Code: mc_array = new Array(); for(i=0;i<5;i++){
Consider an array with x number of elements (of type Object) where some of the elements might be undefined.I use a for-each loop to access all the elements of the array that is not undefined (since it simply skips the undefined elements).But I also want the index of that particular element.The only option I can see is to use indexOf(). But it feels a bit like looking for water on the other side of the river so to speak.
When looping through long arrays each frame, is there a change indexOf() might slow it down? or does the for-each loop somehow know what index it's dealing with?
I am quite new to AS3 and I am having trouble adapting my knowledge of Java to this new language i am trying to make a simple grid in which i could work on each individual square seperately(changing their colour for example). To do so, I created a 2D array,hoping it would allow me to work with some kind of coordinates system. I initialised the array using while loops and for some reason, this does not let me access the array outside the loops.[code]The two last lines are causing the problem, instead of turning the last square red, they return the following error: TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.However, when placed inside the loop, there is no problem and the whole grid turns red.
I like to use array.length in my for loop to keep my code cleaner to read. Is there any huge downside to this? For example will it speed up things greatly if i store the length in a var one time?
