ActionScript 3.0 :: Using A Single Textfield To Draw In Multiple Formats?
Mar 26, 2010
I have a single texfield. I want to set the default format of that textfield to a certain value and alignment. Then, draw the text onto a bitmapdata. Then, I want to change the default format of THAT single textfield to a new format, change the alignment, and change the text contained in it. Then draw it at a new location.I want to do the above many times to use the same textfield to draw in multiple locations in multiple styles.
Code:
var bmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(500,300);
var tField:TextField = new TextField();
I was interested in searching through the text in a textfield and applying formatting to key words. For example, every time the word 'the' appears, apply a text format the changes it to green and 14pt.[code]...
I have many base images that I need to combine to construct larger images to draw on Sprite objects. I understand that the beginBitmapFill() method of the Graphics class renders a bitmap on a Sprite's graphics object. So I figure that I need to manipulate the BitmapData object, adding the base images to produce a composite image that I can then draw on my Sprite.
My question is: Is there any clean and relatively hassle free way of doing this? Is there a way to draw Bitmaps to certain locations in a Sprites graphics context? Could you copy a Graphics object onto another at certain coordinates and build it that way?
Its possible to assign 2 or more Formats to a text in a TextField?I have an var txtChat:TextField; and I want to assign a TextFormat to the user, and another TextFormat to the text of the chat, in the same TextField.
I am trying to bring in multiple RSS feed nodes into one Dynamic Text field in Flash CS3 using AS3. I have made vars for my headline node and my description text node and I am able to have them both display in the same dynamic text field by formatting them with HTML tags. My problem is changing the text size and color for the description node var. Is this possible in the same Text field. Can the default text format be overidden by code?
Here is what I have so far....
ActionScript Code: //This code loads and Parses the RSS feed var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded);
[Code].....
I tried adding size = '8' in the <p> tag but it did not override the default size in the Dynamic Text Field (dtfa) properties.
I want a chart that has several separate series running in rows across. They are largely separate charts and should not overlap, but all share the same horizontal datetimeaxis. They don't share the same y-axis, however and that's where I'm getting stuck.I have tried having a linechart series and then a plotchart series, but it will only allow a single <mx:series> per chart without having them inside the same series which as far as I can tell will place the charts on top of each other in the z-axis. I can stack them and have them completely separate charts, but it was proving to be somewhat irritating having them align correctly.
Is there any reasonable way of combining multiple charts into one like this? Basically having rows in a table where each row is a different chart but the columns are consistent. or am I going to be best served just by stacking separate ones? an illustration of what i'm going for is here: http:[url]........
In one of our project we are using flex for front end, blazeds/java in the backend. Its an existing code where services are prewritten. I have to make calls to 3 services in the backend (basically 3 remote objects) and get their result and store the result in an object and show the data of this object in a view. Now in front end we are using Flex and Parsley Framework. I was thinking of the following approaches.
1) Making commands for each service call and storing the result in a shared object (model) and then displaying this model in the view. In this approach the problem is some services are needed in some other web pages, but they donot need the same model. How should i handle this scenario ? Should i make a asynchronous remote call and fetch the result and then again dispatch and event with the event object storing the result.
2) Making a service call , wait for the result then make another call and wait for the result and then make other call, not sure if this is the right way ?
I have very little experience with text in flash. In a dynamic text field I know I can apply a TextFormat to the entire field but can I apply different fromatting to individual workd in the field if for example I wanted to make a word or a few words of text a hyperlink within a textfield. Can I do that or would I need to use html text?
SlideTitles.text is an input field. I want the user to enter the titles in in this format
slide one;;slide two;;slide three
Calling the slides whatever they want, and they can have as many as they want.
I need to able to split them values up and put them into a string array. (after they submit them)
so it would end up being myStringArray = ("slide one", "slide two", "slide three")
so far i'm failing. I did do a bit of searching around but couldn't find anyone doing this same thing.
I've tried myStringArray = (textfieldsxx)
and then setting the value of textfieldsxx to equal the slideTitles.text... but then it just ends up as 1 value in the array, no matter what format i write it in... i'm still a learner with arrays
I have a question about textfields and I'm wondering if it is possible to change text styles of single words or lines within a textfield with actionscript.
I use an empty textfield and add my text to that field in actionscript with the following code: myTfield.text = "insert text here"
the text contains multiple lines and I want some of them to be bold, italic or a bigger font size. The reason why I am adding my text to my textfield this way is because I need the text in the textfield to change when some buttons are pressed. Text will be added or removed from the textfield if buttons are pressed by the user and the current way I'm changing the text is by simply re-using the code above with new text in it. (it makes the code quite long though, but I guess I'll have to deal with that) But because I'm adding text this way I am not sure how to change the style of different parts of the text.
On a related note, with CS5 there are now a number of options for textfields. There is TLF text and classic text. I've searched around for the differences but I don't find the awnsers very clear. What option should I use for my textfield if I want it to look sharp like the text I'm typing here (its just regular text, no headers or anything). Some options just give blurry text because of the anti-alias and some settings don't seem to change a thing. And at times embedding fonts looks nice but sometimes it makes it worse. There are so many options to choose from, but it is unclear what would work best for regular text. (my text won't animate, it does move with a scrollbar, but I only care about how it looks when the scrollbar is still)
I have a need to draw a TextField into a Bitmap. And I can do it with one minor problem. When the TextField is added to the display list it has no background. When I draw it to the bitmapData object it always has an opaque white background. Is there any way to get the TextField to draw to the bitmapData with a transparent background? Here is the code I currently have that does draw the TextField in the bitmapData, but with an opaque background.

I want to draw text to a bitmapData and allow it to be rotated but rotating the text makes it disappear :(The code I am using resembles something like this :
var tf : TextField = new TextField(); tf.text = "testing"; var mat : Matrix = new Matrix();
I'm drawing a textfield onto a bitmap which I use as texture for a 3D object. I'm listening for Event.change, and so whenever the user adds a character I redraw the texture. But to really give the 3D object a 'interactive textfield feeling', I want to draw text selections and draw the caret (the blinking text cursor), but by default these a not drawn when using bitmapData.draw(textField), nor can I find a Event to listen for 'textSelected'.
//is there any event that catches text selection / blinking of text-cursor? textField.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, redrawTexture); //... //is there any way to draw text selection / text-cursor in the bitmap? bmpData.draw(textField);
What I want to happen:Everytime I'd hover the mouse on each button, I would like the background animation to run. And have the animation stop on mouseout for each button.I was able to make it on one button via this tutorial: [URL]But this doesn't seem to work with multiple buttons involved.
I'd like to use the same music player displayed multiple times on the same page, one for each song. But when songs are played, I want the existing play to stop. For example:
song1 song2 song3
I click to play song1, while it's playing, I decide to play song3 instead. Based on the default setup, song3 will start playing while song1 continues to play. I'd like song1 to stop when song3 starts.
I have a doubt: When you open various flash pages in tabs, for example in Firefox, all those pages share the same Flash instance or each one use an instance of flash??
I have done words animation in flash and converted as swf. I have more than 300 small swf files. Now I have to merge all these files in to a single swf. Is there any software to merge multiple files to a single file. I don't want to use loadMovie, because I haven't used script in any of these files. Since it is an urgent project, I can't add code in all these files.
i have 4 movieclips on my stage , there are mc_1, mc_2, mc_3 and mc_4 and i also have 1 dragable movieclip (named ball), and i want something traced if my ball touch another movieclip, below are my code
ActionScript Code: ball.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, drag); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, drop); function drag(e:MouseEvent):void {
I am trying to use an existing link with a flash file that is functional to also link to another page at the same time. Basically I am using Joomla and I have a flash file that has menus and pictures and such. I want to be able to click on a link within the flash file and still have it do its given function of pulling up an image or opening another menu or whatever the current function of that link is. The problem I am having is that I also want this link when clicked to navigate to a specific url to show aditional content on one of the Joolma pages.when one of the links in the flash file is click and it pulls up a specific image within the flash file.I want it to also pull up text or other content below my flash file that goes along with the image.
I'm building out a Flash / Flex viewer and I'm looking for a tool / software that will recompile several to many SWFs into one SWF file. I have an XML file and would like to load that into a compiler that would compile the SWFs into a single file.
I have a button that I want to work on multiple frames. Currently, I have a scene that automatically starts to play when the playhead enters the first frame (no stop command). I have an event listener in the first frame that listens for a click. After the click the user is supposed to go to another scene.
The problem is that the button is not working. I am assuming that the code in the first frame only applies to the first frame and I need to add additional code that applies as the playhead is playing across the multiple frames.

I'm really new to flash, and just taking an intro level course at the moment.Anyways, for one of my projects,I wanted to load some .jpg files onto the stage, and make buttons from certain aspects of the image.So for example,I have an image of a coconut that I wanted to make a button out of.Right now I am trying to use the pen tool to outline the shape of the coconut, and then create a symbol from the pen tools shape.However, I'm obviously not doing something right, as when I turn the image into a symbol, instead of creating a button symbol from my outline with the pen tool, it just turns my whole .jpg file into a symbol.
I want to be able to make multiple clickable buttons from a single image,I know how the coding will work once I can make the individual buttons, but right now I seem to be missing a step.
My problem is that I am trying to use the following functions on 10 different logo movieclips. Each logo movieclip has a popup up box (another mc) within its timeline with a description in. When I hover over the logo movieclip i want it to call the forward frames function and on hover out call the rewindframes function.
function forwardFrames() { onEnterFrame = function () { if (_currentframe != 15) { nextFrame();
I've multiple videos stored as MovieClip objects and would like to merge them into a single MovieClip video object in order to play all of them in sequence (so that a user thinks it's a single video).
I have an application in flash, I build in ActionScript 3.0 Flash IDE, my application loads some external swfs which mentioned via XML file. Its working fine at the moment. But I need to compile all these external SWFs and xml file into single exe file. How can I compile like this. or how can I code like this?
EDIT: 1 from here : [URL]
You can see an example, the application is build in .net and it import pdf and publish it as flash projector or web based(swf). How is it compiling all the external SWF files.
