ActionScript 3.0 :: Add And Delete MovieClips When A Button Is Click Using For A Loop?
Feb 18, 2010
I have a for loop that adds 5 movieClips to the stage at a random position every time I click the enterBtn, what I want to do if the enterBtn is click again remove the movieClips previously generated and leave only the new ones on the stage.
Oh, the number "5" in my for loop will be dynamically created so it may be different if the enterBtn is click again (I just used 5 for simplicity).
enterBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, calculator,false,0,true);
function calculator(event:MouseEvent):void {
for (var i=0; i<5; i++) {
I got these four errors when I tried to create a button on the stage that would delete the text I inputted in the inputtext(ti). Based on the scripts I have and the errors, what should I write to create the delete button?
I have a spreadsheet represented with three bitmaps within mcs. I'm using an mc with four directional buttons to allow scrolling (x and Y). The complication comes when I want the header to move on the x axis, but not the y axis. Also, I've got an mc with the row title column and I want that to move on the y axis, but not the x axis. This should be easy, but it is not for me. I've tried using an array, but with my onEnterFrame/incremental movement, how to break out of the onEnterFrame. I've also tried a function call as seen below. I can get things to move, but not quite right, tweaking only makes things worse. This one will move both of my mc's on the y axis, but only after clicking three times. The on the reverse trip, the mc moves jumps up and then increments correctly, only with that initial jump offset.
Let me show you my code (these variables are supplied by the loaded MC): Code: _level0.maxDown = -271; _level0.stepY = 140.334; _level0.maxUp = 150; _level0.maxRight = -323; _level0.maxLeft = 0; [Code] .....
Basic problem here. I'm adding a bunch of movieclips using the addChild method. I simply want to remove/hide/fade them after a button click, but I am unsure of how to refer to the movieclips which I've just added.
Here is the code as it stands: Code: Select allimport gs.TweenLite; import gs.easing.*; var strip:Bgstrip; var contentBg:ContentBg = new ContentBg(); contentBg.x = 440; contentBg.y = 166; addChild(contentBg); [Code] .....
What Im trying to do is duplicate some main button movieClips for each <dept> node. When pressed these main buttons then show a second set of buttons for as many <menu> nodes there are. In the actionScript the displayMainButtons function is used to loop through the XML and display the Main buttons. With the other 2 display functions (displayFirstButton and displaySecondButton) Im displaying another button for each <menu> node. These too works just fine, but the problem with writing it this way is that I have to write another display function for as many <dept> nodes there are. Id like this to be written so it loops through it in one function so I can add as many <dept> nodes with as many <menu> nodes as I'd like without going back into the AS code to add more display functions. And as you can see, I had to do the same to delete the buttons.
I'm pretty new to actionscript 3.0 and thus I get the feeling I'm making a very juvenile mistake.. either way I have been trying to solve this problem for hours to no avail. I have an assignment in uni to produce a basic flash game that is meant to meet a set criteria involving playing/pausing music, loading external swfs and so on which I have had no problem with.
The one issue I am having however is creating what is essentially a pond game in which a bird is meant to swoop down and pick up a fish. Getting a hit test to detect the collision between the fish and the bird is working fine but I want the fish to delete itself and then generate a new movieclip as the brief specifies. I can get it to generate a new movieclip no problem but for some reason I can't get it to delete the original one. [code]...
I have three movie clips, mc_1 should delete mc_2 and and mc_3 should delete mc_1. I can get mc_1 to delete mc_2 but I can't get mc_3 to delete mc_1. I am getting a trace in the output window confirming both. How do I go about doing it?
I have created app where images are loaded from xml and displayed onscreen as elements, which can be dragged onto a different 'holder' MovieClip. On successful drop the 'holder' movie generates dynamic movieclip as 'mc' and adds a larger version of the droped image. so i can have multiple child of 'holder' everytime a element is dropped.
now i have created a button, on click of which all the elements should be removed. for which I am using the following code
while (mainFrame_mc.imgArea.holder.numChildren > 0){ mainFrame_mc.imgArea.holder.removeChildAt(0); }
this code is removing the child clips as required but later when i again drop another element. nothing shows up. Unable to understand why is this happening. The holder movie clip is physically present on the stage where as only its child movie clips are added dynamically.
look at my attachment and you will see that it creates 10 little pieces of ammo. When u click on the background it should delete one of those movie clips. But it deletes 2 of them. the code for creating is on the first layer and the deleting is on the background button symbol(click on the background to find it if you don't know what im talking about). create code
Lets say i have a button on frame 1. And if you press it normal, you ll get to frame 2. But then if you click it on another way, you ll get to frame 3. How do i do that easy?! With another way i mean like shift click or ctrl click or is it an easier way?
I have created a delete button and have linked it to a text box along with another button that displays "1" in the text box when clicked. I need a button that will then delete this "1" out of the text box when clicked.
I have read all threads and can not find a solution but i am not somebody with a lots of knowledge about actionscript so here is my problem i am using this script .
[code]....
the problem is that when i click on the first button loads ok but when click on second still showing the first movie clip in the back ,,,,, i have try everything without luck ,,,, i guess i need to keep reading but will like to find an answer to this situation ,
I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation
SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code
Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:
<mx:Script> <![CDATA[ // Import the Menu control. import mx.controls.Menu;
I am implementing a flex auto-suggest combobox - as the user types in each character: Consider the string 'Stackoverflow' and user input = 'st'
1) the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 'st' 2) text is set to auto-suggest string such that the un-typed part is highlighted.
So for instance, the combobox text may contain st'ackoverflow', where 'ackoverflow' is highlighted using setSelectedIndex()When I hit back-space or delete, and check the 'this.text' value, I expect that the last un-highlighted character ('t' in the above case) gets deleted and the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 's'. However the text property contains 'st', as before
I am building a flash interface and I would like a menu where it is hidden to begin with (just a tab). You click the tab to expand it, and click again to collapse it. I've made a movieclip with animation of the menu opening up and closing, but I can't seem to work out how I'd go about making the movieclip open and close properly.
its strange but one time this code works in a few minutes suddenly i get error #2032. I am just start to learn AC3 and obviously doing something wrong.and explain me?
I have created a delete button, and when the user clicks it.. I want it to delete the selected movie clip. I have created a variable selecteddrawing to store whatever movie clip is currently selected.
when i call the event listener, and tried removeChild(selecteddrawing) it gives me this error:
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. at flash.display:isplayObjectContainer/removeChild() at SendLove/deleteListener()
Here is the code that i just wrote for the delete button. I will attach the entire AS3 file as well.
ActionScript Code: create.delete_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, deleteListener); private function deleteListener(event:MouseEvent):void {
I have a test button i would like to have play a movie where a graphic expands. Once stopped, I would like to be able to click that same button and have the graphic go backwards. I would prefer to have timeline reverse, rather than lengthen the timeline of the mc because then i have to line up the start and end, and if one changes, i have to remember to change the other.
I am trying to work out this issue in as3 and I'm sure its simple but can't seem to get my head around it. If anyone can see a sollution I would be very happy to hear from you. [URL]..If you click on the red button and click back and previous you will notice that the speed it goes back when you click previous is much slower the further through the slides you go?
[Code]...
This is a simplified version on the code, I'm sure its in this chunk somewhere.
I have some radio buttons that are all created dynamically and range from maybe 1-4 or more. Is there a way when I click submit button I can wipe out all of those buttons?
I have a line that is being drawn following a route when a play button is pushed. At the end of the movieclip the whole route is shown with the beginning and end. How do I clear that line if the user hits play again? Right now it connects the beginning and ending points and creates another line on top of the old one.
I works with Flex 4.5 and I like to create a custom dropdownlist. Indeed, I'd like to show in each line on my dropdownlist a label and a delete button. The goal is to delete the line on click to delete button. This look like simple, but I don't found how to do that.
