ActionScript 3.0 :: Add Event.resize To Some Display Object Container In Both Of Them?
Sep 1, 2010
lets say i have 2 classes in the same package.and i add the same event listener to each of them, for example i add event.resize to some display object container in both of them.how can i prevent the code attached to that listener to execute in one of the classes if that event happens?
Is there a simple way to completely empty a display object container regardless of what it contains, including if it's already empty? In other words, without determining its children and using removeChild on each?
For some reason below is not working. It is probably very obvious but I am not seeing it. As soon as I comment out the container mc variable and just add Child to root timeline I see everything which means me container is not being added to the stage correctly.
stop(); import flash.display.MovieClip; var i:int = 0; var a:Number = 10; var ageString:String; var ageText:Array = new Array(); [Code] .....
How do I remove all children from a display object container? I want to make sure that when I re-enter a particular frame that there are no imageLoaders loaded into my photoGallery.
Basically I've got a class called Controller and another class called:"EnemyShip".In EnemyShip's step() event (the ENTER_FRAME event), I call myStage.removeChild(this);[code]myStage is a reference in the constructor of the EnemyShip.as class
This has to be simple, if only I knew how. I'm an AS3 newbie, and am having difficulty setting up multiple specific EventListeners within a code generated display object container.
I am generating a 'page' (Sprite) with a heap of 'cards' (Sprites) on it. Each of those cards, in turn, contains a selection of text boxes and other objects generated from database output using a 'for' loop. My hope is to attach an EventListener to each 'card' so that a MouseEvent will let me manipulate the data that lead to the content of that actual card (the i-th iteration of my for loop). I've been playing with everything I can think of (limited repertoire of thoughts though) and the best I've managed is for my EventListener to access the final set of data, whichever 'card' I click on. I've summarised and attached my code for the function, how to get back to the i-set of data from the EventListener attached to the i-th card. I can handle the PHP and MySQL side of things but am fumbling my way into the OOP of AS3.
I m building a little application, im design the graphic in Flash and im using Flash Builder for the Programming Side. I have 5 MovieClip inside a Sprite (the container), and i want to listen for MOUSE.CLICK. I add the event listener to the Sprite, instead of one for MovieClip, and its working good like this.
What if inside the Sprite (the container) i have also a TextField and exclude it from the event flow?
I have a utility class that I use to load images that never gets added to the stage and is extending EventDispatcher, it simply loads the data and spits it back out on request.
I want to add a custom event to track loading progress from outside the class. The events are firing but not (i think) bubbling because they aren't in the display list.
Is there a good way around this? I was thinking: Can I have a non display list object tell a display object to send the custom event for it?
I'm trying to dispatch a custom event from a custom class (which implements IEventDispatcher) to another custom class (also implements IEventDispatcher) but I cannot trigger the corresponding event handlers. The classes are instantiated at different parts of the application: one on the main canvas and the other on the back-end (data side) of the app. Neither of these is part of the display list hierarchy and I need them to communicate through events.I've looked through adobe docs, the web and Mook's Essential AS3, but have come up with nothing...
I have a SendData class that sends form info to a php script. It is a static class that does not extend anything.
I want to be able to dispatch an event if there is an error, or when it gets info back from the server. I have a custom event class that I have been using to dispatch events like this, but I have only used that in displayObject extended classes.
The problem is, it seems like something has to be a displayObject based class to dispatch events. I know there must be a way to do this, but I'm having trouble finding it in searches.
In Actionscript 3 is there any way to determine the precise display object hierarchy an event will traverse through when dispatched from a given object? The object is not necessarily a display object.Although I could imagine this actually being useful somehow, in my particular case it is a learning exercise. I'm trying to master the event system in flash and have some locations where I'm very curious what path an event will take when I dispatch it.
I'm having a bit of a problem here. As per the title, my flash swf file works fine when tested from the IDE, but when I publish it and open it through the browser, the stage doesn't seem to resize along with the window.I post below a bare-bones example. The "back" movie clip should resize, only it remains at the starting dimensions
I have a stage with Top, Middle & Bottom Movieclip's set on it. On resize the content is scaled to fit and maintain the correct proportions.I am loading each content (page) in as external SWF files into the Middle container using a Loader and URLRequest. Here is my onCompleteHandler function:
Actionscript Code: function onCompleteHandler(loadEvent:Event){ // Remove Preloader middle.removeChild(preload); content =
What I want to accomplish is to resize an external SWF so that it fits into the display object that is presented as a container on the stage. For now it show up outside of the container.
Important: I do not want an external SWF to occupy the whole stage; I have a special place (that container) for it on the stage.
I have a hairy case here: I need to load from a menu different SWF's (same width/different heights). What I need after this: resize the height of the container box (a movieclip). I have how to explain better all the stuff and post some AS too
I have a flash animation with the size of 1280x1024 and I want to embed it into an HTML file. I want the flash file to be displayed in 800x600. This is my code:
I have a window witch is resizing on creationcomplete phase according user preference. This part woks well. But inside this window a s:Group (maincontainer2) exists and even if width and height is in percent, the s:Group size is bigger that the new window measure.
If I create a rectangle with 100px width and 100px height and then rotate it, the size of the element's "box" will have increased. With 45 rotation, the size becomes about 143x143 (from 100x100).Doing sometimes like cos(angleRad) * currentWidth seems to work for 45 rotation, but for other bigger angles it doesn't.At the moment I am doing this:
var currentRotation = object.rotation; object.rotation = 0; var normalizedWidth = object.width;
I'm using the following code to load a .jpg into a movie clip container the problem is I need the container to be a specific size I tried loader.content.width = 50; and loader.content.height = 50; the height part works but the width doesn't work my image just expands beyond the stage width. How do i set the size of the movie clip container?I don't care if the image gets distorted i have a resize script for the images before they are loaded into flash.[code]
I would like to know how possible it is to undo/redo the resize of the the textflow container through an EditManager?.For example I manually reset the size of the textflow through ContainerController.setCompositionSize(w, h), and then I would like to undo the resize?
How to make a container/Movie Clip dynamically resize such as the effect employed in this site (animations included): [URL]. Furthermore, is it possible to have images load from an XML file and contain the information needed to have the container/Movie Clip resize accordingly.
Is there an easy way to make a parent container (eg Group) resize when it's children resize?
Below is a little example app. When I put the 200x200 'food' in the 'stomach' the stomach & it's containing 100x100 'body' should resize to contain the food.
I'm trying to create a Flex application that can automatically shrink based on the size of the components that it contains, so that a user can shrink it to a minimal view to see more of the HTML page it's embedded in.
I know how to change the size of the whole application using ExternalInterface, but I'm having trouble automatically figuring out how much the size changed when something is hidden or shown.
How can I hide one of the text fields and cause the VBox to shrink? I'm currently setting it to visible = false, but that doesn't seem to affect the parent VBox.
Once the VBox shrinks, how can I detect that the Application no longer needs so much space, and then go about figuring out how much less space it needs?
I've tried using ResizeEvent, but I haven't been able to get them to work, but I could be doing something wrong.
I've got a simple script that resizes a loaded image to fit a specific width and height, however I want the option to be able to fill i.e. centre and crop to a specific width/height - any ideas on how I can modify this?
