ActionScript 3.0 :: Associate Text Value "inside" Object With That Object?

I have imported a floor plan into Flash CS4. I have the "Rooms" (polylines/rectangles with no fill as drawing objects) that define the rooms as well as the room numbers inside the rooms as text fields. I would like to associate the room numbers with their respective rectangle/polyline that defines the room.
Is there a way to traverse all of the objects on the stage and then say "if the text field is inside the boundaries of this rectangle (the room polyline) then give this polyline that instance name.

I am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I use restlet 2.0m6 and here is the code snippet that I use -

ok so if i have an obect called square1 and an object called square2 and inside square2 i have hitArea... i want to use shapeflag to detect an absolute true hitTest on just the area of square1 not the bounding box.... i tried this code and it didnt work...

I've got to access text inside a flash object. The preferred method is via C#, but anything that works will do. The only requirement is that I'll need the resulting information to be transferred back to c# code.Let's take, for example, this page.With fireflashbug, you can easily access individual elements inside flash object and read/change html texts inside each of them.To work, it requires Flash Debugger.How can I do the same from my own code?

is it possible to create instance inside method of another instance? But I want new instance to be sibling of instance where it was created.something like this:

So I have this Photo class than handles loading a pic, and dispatches an event when the loading is done with:[code]which is simple and works, but now I'd like to make something more advanced. I'd like to dispatch the load ratio.So far I have extended the Event class, with my own EventRatio class, and I can put properties on that class. Which is cool, but I need something more dynamic than just sending a fixed value.So, what is the best way to connect the Loader object of the Photo object, with the EventRatio object?

I have this situation where i'm trying to save "chat logs" while people switch around views in my flex mobile application..so, my plan is i'm starting out with a main object that I plan to re-use as the main chat log object..I call it textObjso, when someone new wants to chat my plan is to make a new object with the persons username.so how if i were to get the username from something like data.username how could I translate that into the var name of the object I want to make? I have several buttons inside of a movie clip, as well as functions for the MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT events. There is no gap between the buttons, however, if I move from one button to the next, first the MOUSE_OUT and immediately the MOUSE_OVER function is called again (even though all of this is inside of the movie clip). If I have the buttons inside another button, moving from one (sub-)button to the next is not problem, but then I can't have any animations/movie clips inside (or can I?). Is there any way to "fix" this, meaning that I can move from one button to the next without triggering the functions?

I have two swf, one loads the other using a Loader class, in the loaded swf I have a NetConnection object which I need to access from the host swf, but I can't, if I debug the app, I see the obejct is there, but I can't access it, if I try to set a variable likeloadedSWF = connectorLoader.content (connectorLoader is the Loader object)loadedSWF is always nullIf I debig the app, I see the NetConnection in the loaded SWF, but I can't have access to it, I have try to use Security.allowDomain("*") in both swf to be sure, but nothing, I thought that only doing the allowDomain method I will have access to the loaded SWF objects

I have a circle drawn on the screen, wherein I add a moving object. I want it to keep inside. My strategy is to calculate the circle's radius and compare it with the distance the moving object is off its center. I beleive it's the proper solution. However, I'm having a problem with letting Flash know when the running guy should stop, so he doesn't leave the circle and ruin all the fun. Here's the code I'm using (it's not working of course):

I am trying to use a new script that uses XML to dynamically create a menu on the stage. Within the XML, I am establishing a function to use with that button. One button may just link to something on the web while another will simple display/hide a specific movieclip on the stage. I also have another button that I need to use to show any hotspots on the stage. Originally, I had the code on the instance of a static button on the stage and used a loop to get the items on the stage. Now, though, I have this "generic" Object() with a function called showHot. I have been playing around with using _parent, but can't figure out how to get to the items on the stage. All my hotspot movieclips' names start with "hs", so if I can just figure out how to loop through the items on the stage, I can check the names of those items.

I have a movie clip symbol placed on the main timeline. The class linkage to that movie clip is Sheet. Inside Sheet class, I make a public string call _textRow. Inside the Sheet's constructor, I create a new TextField call values_txt. Inside the Sheet class again, I create a public function call updateTable().
The document class is Main. From the Main.as, I need to call updateTable() function to update the text inside values_txt. And I need to find a way to get to values_txt. That's where my problem lies.

I have four animated buttons with a design element cross_mc inside of another movie clip content_mc. I need all four buttons to be in front of the cross_mc so I get inside of content_mc to arrange the buttons accordingly (Modify > Arrange > Bring toFront). Everything looks hunky dory until I test the movie in which one of the buttons appears to be always behind of the design thingy no matter what I do...

I created an array of objects and put an event listener on each of them. My problem is that when the object is clicked, I want to access a method inside the object's class but I do not know how to reference its position in the array. This isn't very clear but hopefully my code will make it clearer.
This line is inside while loops and puts an event listener on every square.

Note: e.target returns the following error:

what I want to do is render some HTML inside my Flash object. My problem is that this isn't just htmlText (for which I could use a textArea object), but text and images. Is there a component / object I can use inside Flash to render this HTML segment on the fly, or would I have to write my own HTML interpreter more-or-less (which I could do, thats just the last resort if I can't find a quicker way to do it)

Is it possible to pull the currentFrame of the root timeline from inside an object class? Normally a currentFrame call only checks the frame of the movieclip it's attached to within an object class, so how would you go about checking the frame of the entire project from within the object class file?
edit: Nevermind, I found what I was looking for. All you have to do is use MovieClip(root).currentFrame and it works just fine. Consider the question answered.

inside a MouseEvent.CLICK function, I usually used e.target to address the movieClip that I clicked, but that only work with a movieClip that doesn't have any children (such as text and other symbols) inside. When it has children inside, the e.target return the child inside the Mc but not the Mc itself. The e.currentTarget didn't work, either; it returned [object MovieClip] but not the instance name of the Mc.
