How can I make a border in a part of the screen that when objects inside hit it they cannot pass it. for example like flash games have with bubbles that cannot pass the screen border and they just travel in the screen's space.Is it possible to make this with box2d. I haven't worked with this framework.

View 3 RepliesI have tried changing all the styles associated with the combobox (borderColor, etc), and set borderStyle to none (which made the border go away around the dropdown menu) but I can't for the life of me get the border that's around the main part of the combobox to go away or change color. I skinned the button to get it to be red, but I just can't figure out how to change that last detail.

View 2 RepliesI have a simple full screen flash site with mc's that are positioned in relation to the stage, and I also have a background image that is bigger than the stage that shrinks and expands when the user resizes the browser, and it doesn't distort.My problem is that when i publish it normally at 100% width/100% height I get a weird acting vertical scrollbars, so I'm forced to publish it at 98% height, which then shrinks my swf file exposing the black background giving my freaking swf an unwanted black border.
View 1 RepliesI am drawing a rectangle at 0,0 with a line-style-thickness of 4px. It has height 100% and width 50%. The right-hand edge has a border 4px wide, but all 3 other sides are only 2px, suggesting the mid-point of the edge is classed as the border. Why isn't the edge drawn 'inside' the rectangle?

Which will scale my app to full screen and show the entire app with no cropping, however may leave borders on the left and right. Which it does I'm wondering if there is a way to remove or at least set the color of those borders, they are currently white. Its a big wide 2" section on the left only in my case.
So I found out how to change the color of it, by doing a backgroundColor="#f3f3f3" on

As you can see on the attached image I have a rounded border round an image. The problem is that the border only is rounded on the outside and not on the inside (marked with a arrow). The code I use for the border is:

Flash draws borders centered on the edge of shapes. Is there an AS3 way to draw a border all inside a shape? I've got an image gallery and I'd like to create a rollover effect with a 4px border growing inside the thumbs. I can do it via timeline, but I'd like to do it via AS.

I have two views in viewstack. One has a VRule extending from top of screen to bottom. Another view has a big accordion. If I give viewstack percent height=100%, first view works fine and second view gets clipped or has a vertical scroll bar inside view stack. If I dont mention viewstack height and set resizeToContent to true, second view works fine and first view takes up only small part of screen. Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? The problem I am having is that a client has asked me to place a call to action button inside a textbox that scrolls. My idea was to create a movieclip containing the text and the button, then place that movieclip inside a scroll pane. I've been monkeying around with it all day and have made minimal headway. I'm not even sure of the best way to accomplish this.
If one of you learned actionscripters out there could point me in the right direction, perhaps I can find my own solution. The client wants me to use custom icons for the scrollbars, and as altering a scrollbar component seems like such a PIA, I'm trying to avoid using components.

I want to a framework to pass objects between Java and AS3 using sockets. It should be something with good performance (not XML, JSON). I have looked into AMF but all of the tutorials are very complex and not about what I need. I have used java to java serialization but I can't find any tutorial about Java to AS3.

I am creating a quiz and I set one quiz block with questions into a movieclip. When the person answers the correct answer I want it to add to a counter and pass that value onto the next movieclip. So movieclip one is added to the stage it does something then adds a counter. Then moves to the next frame and movieclip2 is added to the stage. It does something and add to the same counter variable from movieclip1. And so on and so on until no more movieclips.

EDIT: I'll explain myself if you didn't understand my problem: I have a restful api written in rails to which I'm connecting. Doc is a child resource of Job. If I want to get all docs I have to supply a job_id too. Therefore in the service the url must be changed for each .send() call, with the proper job_id (the ??? part above). I'd like to call it like myDelegate.index({job_id:34}) and insert that job_id field in the Service URL.
How do I pass values by reference inside a for each construct in AS3? Basically, I want something equivalent to the following code in PHP:

This would allow me to change all elements of the collection $array through a single loop.
What i'm trying to do is creating an array of objects, little squares that are positioned in a grid with coordinates and when i click on the coordinates i need to select only the elements which fit with the value.
