The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between

Sep 5, 2006We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

Data Integration :: Load Data Into Form - Edit Then Save
Jan 14, 2008I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.

However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? Can Flash communicate with that HTML? Or are one of the below methods recommended:

* Flash Remoting
* Web services
* JavaScript - call JS function
* fscommand
* ExternalInterface

Jun 4, 2009i load in AS3 data into flash and mantain their data type? Like receiving an array and even with arrays in it and recognizing that is an array instead of a standard string.
And if this is possible is it more reliable then using XML?

Now my question is: Should I use the xml file to load all the data at once, or should I use a webservice, that provides the data when I need it? Keep in mind that I'm new to webservices. And if I'm going to use a webservice: How do I store the data, in a mySQL database?How fast is a webservice?

Jun 4, 2009I have a question about loading external data. When I had all my actionscript export to frame one, it would slow down the preloader and not show up until it was far into the progress bar animation. So I moved everything to frame 2. The problem with that is now my menus which are populated from an xml file are not there when the site starts to play. How can I get my xml data to load on frame one, but leave the .as fils to load in frame 2?

Jan 2, 2011I have an SWF that's 30MB. Sound files (music) make up 25MB, art and other things make up the remaining 5MB.
Would it be possible for me to load the 5MB of necessary art and other things first to allow the user to operate the app, then after that's all loaded and they are operating the app, load the remaining 25MB of sound files in the background?
UPDATE: Loading SWF (or other entities) externally is not an option.
Load XML Data To Flash With AS2?

I have a XML file like this:

All I want is to load the XML data in Flash in two dynamic text fields (TextOne_mc and TextTwo_mc) and make the TextOne_mc to show me first the "TextShow1" then the "TextShow3" etc and the TextTwo_mc to show me first "TextShow2" then "TextShow4" etc,but when I'm done with it,TextOne_mc shows me "TextShow5" and TextTwo_mc shows me "TextShow6" only.
Flex :: App To Load Data Before Anything Else?
Apr 19, 2010I have a flex app that takes data from a back end database then displays the content in one of 3 views. These views are all in a viewstack which is instantiated in main.mxml The method to get the data (remote object)is also in main.mxml.
The views rely on the data so how can I go about making sure that the data is loaded first before any of the views in viewstack are created / initialised to stop me having null reference errors?
Php :: Swf To Load External Data?
Jul 5, 2010I have an OOP PHP site structured with a MVC pattern. A page on the site has an embedded SWF that needs to pull information from a database. In the past, I would have just had a procedural php file for the swf to load the data from the database from. However, that method doesn't seem like it would fit with a more objected oriented site.
What would be the "proper" way for the swf to load external data? Should I create a class and a MVC pattern in the normal structure of the site that can pull the data (e.g. mysite.com/flash/data) and just pass this path to the swf as a FlashVar?

Jan 8, 2010im in the middle of a project and having troubles with xml, i used the xml basic tutorials from this site, and try to use my own xml with the code provided, and it loads succesfully but then i cannot generate the XMLList and it doesnt give error, so i trace the xml variable and i get the data, but when i trace a propertie, for example xml.comentarios, it doesnt return anything. note: if a used the xml adress provided in the tutorrial it works even with properties, calls like xml.channel work just fine, my xml seems to be the problem, but i dont know why.

What I tried to do was to export the data I had from the XML into a seperate array so I could use it later. However, when I try and access the array data after the XML has been parsed it says the values in the array are "undefined"

Jun 24, 2006Throwing this out there. I would like to know how to haveflash grab an XML URL from the embed tag (i.e. embed src=""flashvars="profile=http://xmlfile.xml". Reason:I make thesemyspace templates for people to use, but they can only be edited bypeople who own flash. If the user could edit an XML file with allof their content, then they would be able to use the layoutsregardless of whether or not they have flash. Does anyone here know how to do this? I believe it issomething like this on an actions layer:

Data Integration :: Can't Load XML From Server In IE
Sep 4, 2006Have a flash, that loads XML from server. Flash uses it to built up a site menu. Both xml and flash reside on the same host. When I try to run server locally - everything works. But when I try it online, XML is loaded only in FireFox, but in IE it can't be loaded. Flash movie itself loaded normally (I can right-click on it and see standard menu). I put my host into Trusted sites in IE and set very low security/privacy. I don't have any firewalls or proxies. I also put my host and flash movie into Trusted source in Flash Settings Manager.

Aug 1, 2009I have this little flash application that i am working on, which loads images and XML data. It is based on the Timer Class which Loads movie clips to the stage and removes them(as i thought this might be the best way of orchestrating this). Now i am having a problem with redundancy of loads.(It is loading the data everytime, which causes delays, What if all of this was established(loaded) at the begining and reused through the application
Instead of loading the data everytime, I would like to
1) Load the images and XML at the load(at the initial start up of the SWF)
2) Assign this data to variables and then add them and remove them as i please throughout the application.[code]...

Jun 18, 2007I made a flash music player for my server the player works perfectly and loads the xml data when viewed on my computer and even when it has been uploaded to the server IF I view it by itself but once I try and view my HTML file, all of the information for the songs comes up as undefined, so none of the songs will play.
