I could play a XML Driven SWF just fine by itself But when I load it into another XML Driven SWF, it won't get the data.Is there a way to make both XML SWF worked within each other?

The modules that come with the template work fine, but I don't know how to add a third party xml driven swf, so that it shows up properly. While the third party swf works fine as a standalone, the embedded version loads just an empty movie.

It occurs to me the next problem ... need to load flash image gallery that i already have created, in new presentation file. Gallery was created in Flash Slideshow maker and as products I have. Swf,. Xml and folders with thumbnails and picture (no. Fla file).The concept of the presentation (as root is concerned) should look like in uploaded picture "izgled otvorenog cd-a". In each of the folder on cd presentation (as on picture) is a Flash presentation controlled by their xml file whose name I must not change. Exe file "Prezentacija 2011" is a presentation (Flash Projector) that i try to make. In the same presentation i create frames and for each of the frames added action:

I have been tasked to research methods for creating powerpoint-style presentations, but using Flash for better transitions, effects, etc. This also needs to be data-driven so that information can be easily swapped out for different presentations - maybe fed by an XML file?Any suggestions on where to start looking? Can Flash handle something like this, even outputting the swf of the final presentation?

View 1 RepliesI've made a component based on a mx:TitleWindow that contains linkbuttons that I'm using as a context-menu. The TitleWindow component contains link buttons like this:

This component contains a large number of links and is re-used by multiple modules in the same application. Within each module, this component is used when a user clicks on a row in a datagrid. The code looks like this:
In "Requests" module:

As you can see, the visibility of individual linkbuttons is controlled within each module by setting boolean properties. If I alter this component to use a renderer, how can I control the visibility of the linkbuttons from the code in each module (there are over a hundred links with different functionality - not every link will be used in each module)? Note: it is not known from the back-end which grid within which module uses which link. This is set in the front end within each module's actionscript file. E.g., if the XML looks like this:

I have a dynamic text field in Flash CS4 which gets its value via XML from a back-end MySQL database. The issue is that I want to make the text field to display HTML text

However, there is a problem in Flash both AS2 & AS3 and both CS3 & CS4 in the sense that when there are special characters ie: double quotation marks ", the XML loader does not read (retrieve) any data from the database.
How can I suppress these special characters ? How can I find a workaround ?

View 3 Replieswell i have a problem to which there are lots of related searches over the net but none could solve it. well the problem is that i have an XML driven carousel menu that needs to be loaded using the preloader. After the load is complete i can find my swf menu's backgound and the static buttons getting loaded but the buttons that should load in the carousel using xml are not present.
I have come across the even ADDED_TO_STAGE to load the swf once it has completed its dynamic loading. But they have used it in the documentation class for thier project. I am not using any separate actionscript file.All my code is written in the 1st frame of my project .... I really need a solution to this problem
Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.
The problem is I have followed the very straight forward AS2 Help files for using FlashVars and URL variables.I have placed the code directly from the Help file into the Html between
<noscript> <noscript>and i keep getting undefined.I have tried saving the file as flash 8 and i am publish flash 8.
We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.

However, I need to get the XML data into a (JSP) session and can't neccesarily have an external XML file--any suggestions? Can I put the XML string into a hidden input field in a form on the HTML? Can Flash communicate with that HTML? Or are one of the below methods recommended:

i load in AS3 data into flash and mantain their data type? Like receiving an array and even with arrays in it and recognizing that is an array instead of a standard string.
And if this is possible is it more reliable then using XML?

I'm currently working on a project that contains a lot of data, about 14.000 records. This means an xml file of about 3mb. Now my question is: Should I use the xml file to load all the data at once, or should I use a webservice, that provides the data when I need it? Keep in mind that I'm new to webservices. I have a question about loading external data. When I had all my actionscript export to frame one, it would slow down the preloader and not show up until it was far into the progress bar animation. So I moved everything to frame 2. The problem with that is now my menus which are populated from an xml file are not there when the site starts to play. How can I get my xml data to load on frame one, but leave the .as fils to load in frame 2?
View 6 RepliesI have an SWF that's 30MB. Sound files (music) make up 25MB, art and other things make up the remaining 5MB.
Would it be possible for me to load the 5MB of necessary art and other things first to allow the user to operate the app, then after that's all loaded and they are operating the app, load the remaining 25MB of sound files in the background?
UPDATE: Loading SWF (or other entities) externally is not an option.

All I want is to load the XML data in Flash in two dynamic text fields (TextOne_mc and TextTwo_mc) and make the TextOne_mc to show me first the "TextShow1" then the "TextShow3" etc and the TextTwo_mc to show me first "TextShow2" then "TextShow4" etc,but when I'm done with it,TextOne_mc shows me "TextShow5" and TextTwo_mc shows me "TextShow6" only.
it is not easy at all. somehow i manage to put together my app. but in the end - jezzz what a troubles. i want the data from xml to load.
View 8 RepliesI have a flex app that takes data from a back end database then displays the content in one of 3 views. These views are all in a viewstack which is instantiated in main.mxml The method to get the data (remote object)is also in main.mxml.
The views rely on the data so how can I go about making sure that the data is loaded first before any of the views in viewstack are created / initialised to stop me having null reference errors?
I have an OOP PHP site structured with a MVC pattern. A page on the site has an embedded SWF that needs to pull information from a database. In the past, I would have just had a procedural php file for the swf to load the data from the database from. However, that method doesn't seem like it would fit with a more objected oriented site.
What would be the "proper" way for the swf to load external data? Should I create a class and a MVC pattern in the normal structure of the site that can pull the data (e.g. mysite.com/flash/data) and just pass this path to the swf as a FlashVar?
