I am making a frame by frame animation, where I draw a character, make a new frame and use the onion skin to slightly move my character. Is there a way to make a certain part faster than others? I made a character prepare to kick someone, but since i was doing it frame by frame it looks slow. So instead of taking out frames and making it look choppy, how do I make a certain part faster or increase its FPS? I tried making a new scene and changing its FPS, but that still changes the overall FPS.

When i test this in [url].. not work, I've inserted trace statements before and after this, and only the first are displayed.

View 2 RepliesI have a generative art app, and I'd like it to draw as many cycles as possible each frame without reducing the framerate. Is there a way to tell how much time is left until the screen updates/refreshes?I figure if I can approximate how many milliseconds each cycle takes, then I can run cycles until the amount of time left is less than the average or the peak cycle time, then let the screen refresh, then run another set of cycles.

This is what happened. after i open up any type of document like an actionscript 3.0 document or anything, if i draw with the paint brush as soon as i let go of the mouse button the line disappears. If i go into the timeline and click on the frame it shows up again, but if i draw again it disappears and i have to click on the frame to see it.

I suppose the title says it all. I can load an external video file (FLV) and I can have it play. I also have the custom buttons made to control the clip. The only thing I have left to do is to have the main timeline move onto frame 2 once the external video reaches its end. I am using actionscript 3 and flash cs 5.5.
View 7 Repliesi've recently installed Wowza media server 2 locally, currently only for testing purposes.everything works fine, except of accurate seeking functionality - or in other words advancing frame-by-frame .when i use VLC to play my video file i have no problems advancing frame-by-frame. however, when i use the 'seek()' function to move the playhead a fraction of a second, its seems to move only to the next key frame (meaning that only once every few mouse clicks the playhead advances dramatically).
View 1 RepliesI know how to make a video (instanced as showreel) stop when clicking on a button that that navigates to another section/frame, since otherwise I would still listen to that video while not visible. The problem is when I'm in another frame that doesn't have that video, when clicking on the menu to go to whichever other frame, it looks for that it to stop if it's playing and it and doesn't find it, and so there's an error.
How can solve this? Maybe I should put an order saying something like if there exists a video in that frame instanced as sowreel, stop it, otherwise don't do anything as there is nothing to be stopped. Or assign the order to the frame (which is called motion), but I don't know how to do that, can someone help? The code I have is:

I'm relatively new to Flash and AS3. I've created a website thats a dynamic photo gallery. The site is self-contained (no scrolbars) and I want the frame work of the gallery to draw itself in as the page loads. The frame work is just simple lines and drawing objects on the maintimeline. Do i combine the lines (the "frame work") into a mc and then somehow use the deco tool? How can I acheive this in action script?
View 3 RepliesI am using the draw() method of the BitmapData to encode a jpeg of part of the image. Now this should be easy enough given the object I want to draw to the bitmap is on the stage at design time so I know its location and dimetions exactly! Heres the code I have in place.

I know for a FACT that no part of the street clip I am drawing out is in negative space, and it's registration is (0,0). However, it cuts off A lot of the top of my image. y=5 in the above rectangle is where I need the top to be, but it cuts the top off of the image... even if I change it to 0, it has no effect.

I'm trying to do some lean blitting for an object that rotates by rotating it once at startup and capturing a BitmapData snapshot of each 5 degrees. The problem I'm having is that the draw() method of the BitmapData object is only picking up pixels in the MovieClip that are below and to the right of the registration point. If I change the MC so that the registration point is in the top left corner, I sometimes get what looks like most of the pixels, but the entire object rotates into and out of the frame, since it's rotating around the corner and not the center.

View 4 RepliesI need to be able to draw a thick patterend line between 2 points in AS3, I can't use the draw API because it doesn't all me to actually put detail (pattern etc) into the thickness of the line, I thought about perhaps using the line to create a bitmap version and then using that as a mask, but I remember many years ago seeing some examples that use a movieclip as a source for a line.

SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/bla...bla...bla.swf cannot access null. No policy files granted access. Here is a portion of my code:

i have a class thats create a class with bitmapData that merge 2 IBitmapDrawable. one of them is 24*20 while the other is 16*16.i want to draw the smaller first in a bitmapData object which its width and height are 24*20 but i want to draw it in the center of the big bounds.

While the buffer is filling, the associated Video object automatically displays the fist video frame.Is there a way to receive a notification when this frame is available ? Because I want to hide the video component until there is an image to be displayed.Currently I handle the buffer full NetStreamEvent, so it displays when it starts playing. But now I need a larger buffer (10s), so waiting 10s to display something to the user is not good.

I am creating an app with flex for recording a video and i want to capture the first image of the video recorded, by now i use the following function in order to capture the first image but its rather slow

and i would like to get the first frame of the recorded video as a thumb after it is recorded
The quick question: is there a pure PHP library that can extract a frame from the video to use as the thumbnail? I guess the answer is "no" but let me know if I am wrong :-) ffmpeg wrappers will not go, since I want this feature to work on most hostings without special PHP modules or binaries to launch.
There might also be some tool to do this on the client side with flash for example.

I know how to import video, I just have no clue how to code it to play the video, then go to the next frame. I'm sure there's a tutorial for it somewhere, but I haven't had much luck finding it.
