In the example below i have two arrays: warmColours and coolColours. I put them in an array called allColours. So far so good.I make a copy of allColours (allColoursClone). I try to edit one of the values of its cloned warmColours sub-array. And here's the problem: changing warmColours in the clone also changes the original.I wan't to make an independent copy of it without any connection to the original.[code]

I found the properties doubleClickEnabled= "true", doubleClick="startEditMode()", and editable="true". With these functions I can detect a double click and I can change the editable property to true based on a double click. The problem is that after I double clicked on a Item i have to click once more to really enter the edit mode. That doesn't seem to be intuitive at all..

I am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.

When I push something on to the array from outside of the class using the instancename.arrayname.push() it pushes it onto all of the arrays of all instances of that object like it is a static variable or something.

I've created a game of top trumps. 64 cards and randomized and the 30 are selected. The 30 are then split between 2 arrays, one called PlayerCards and the other called AICards. Only problem is that the cards don't play in any order and often the same card is played 2-3 times in a row. I want to number the random cards in each the PlayersCards and AIsCards 0-14. How do I number the 15 cards in both the PlayerCards and AICards arrays?

The actual MovieClips names are "MC_A", "MC_B", etc..., I use this method so I reuse the same Array for multiple tasks, I simply add what ever it's needed to the name to match the task at hand. On this case I add "MC_".
Then I have multiple Arrays, with the same names of the values of MyMCs. The values of each these Arrays are the names of buttons that are inside the movieclips of MyMCs:

I could add a listener to a button this way:

I know that my problem is in the "this" since I get an error message stating:

I suppose it should state something else... I tryed with "root", "parent", "child", "MovieClip"... with no luck...

Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.

I've got a bit that loads a big chunk of xml data about products.I push product info into an array(e.g. productArray), then add that array to another array (e.g. allProductsArray)How do I sort those arrays? For instance, if I want to sort the allProductsArray based on the info in productArray[0]?Alternatively, would something other tha an array of arrays be a better route?This loader loads the same sort of info for many different clients, so the bit to sort on will change.

A little explanation: Im making a random arranging number Array. So instead of using a loop and assigning 0 to first array element, 1 to second, etc.I need to make it totally random but without repeating any numbers. To do that I made a second Array that will have the same number of children to serve as a reference.Each of them will be an Object with a property "num" , wich will be its actual number, and a property "called" wich defaults to false.Like this:

I've had a problem for awhile that was really odd. After some intense debugging, I realized the problem lied in setting an array equal to another array.[code] When setting one array equal to another, the values aren't copied over, but a reference to that memory is stored. So no matter which variable you change, they are both references to the same memory and thus both will reflect the changes.With other data types, this doesn't happen.I could fix it by looping through t1 and using push() to add each index from t1 into t2, but that seems a little messy.

I bought a template from someone with test in the flash and I'm trying to edit the words with no luck. I've tried double clicking on it and it brings up a square around the text but I'm not able to change it.

However I have hit a snag, it looks like part of the flash website design is controlled by bitmap images therefore I concluded those images were under the sources within the PSD folder. I tried creating a PNG file and double clicking the relevant bitmap and then updating it with the new file. However after I perform a publish preview the the change made no impact to the design.

View 3 RepliesI've recently taken over the website for the company I work for (has been freelanced outside of the office). The previous webdesigner created a flash menu for the top of the pages, as well as a flash element on one other page. I have no Flash knowledge. On the other page with the flash element here: [URL], in the page content on the right there's the bulleted, numbered links. See how the numbers aren't centered on the button? I'm able to open the fla file & can find the elements & where I need to edit, but no matter what I do I can't get the numbers to center on the button.
I've opened each & selected both the number (which is a text element) & the button & have centered horizontally, made the same width & height, etc., etc. but they're still not centering. Now for the menu bar at the top of the page (can look at same page for reference), I can't figure out how to change the text on some of the buttons. For instance I want to change Home Serves to read Custom Homes. I find the symbols & they appear to be images, so is it safe to assume the previous designer created buttons with the text already on them? Also how do I removed some of the drop down items in the menu bar, specifically under Our Galleries?
I was going through the chapter 9 topic of animating 3d elements in Todd Perkins Flash CS4 professional essential training on lynda by opening the file and following along by clicking into the movie clip, but doing so caused me to go into symbol editing mode. When he does it on the video he goes straight into the movie where you can see the other elements on the stage. I right clicked on the movie clip and noticed that edit in place is greyed out. Why can't i get into the movieclip so i can edit the animation while seeing the other elements on the stage? I've researched everywhere and i'm confused how i can be going into symbol editing mode directly from the stage. It is late on a sunday night and i am now questioning my sanity.
