Im trying to get all the info from xml to my dynamic text box called "input_node".
My code is:

And in the box, after i will run it, i will get only the last node of the xml.It looks like the output is overwritten.
i have an rss feed loaded into flash via this code:

and now i want to display the contents of the feed in a dynamic text field which is placed inside a mc on the stage.

In the LoadXMLData class I have an event listener and a getter that will return the XML data.

is there a better way to wait until the data from the XML is loaded into the LoadXMLData object before the mainBoards.getXMLData is assigned to the test variable in my document class?

I am trying to pass information to a many dynamic text fields when rolling over various movieclips that are generated using a loop. I have tried everything I know but can not get pahting to work prpoerly. The rollover works in that the curser changes by does not execute the lines of code within the in line function.(see red, bolded text (towards bottom) for problem). the Attached zipped swf is what it looks like as is.

I am populating a dynamic text box with some xml elements that I am calling on. For example, I have two text fields and am filling them using

How could I populate one dynamic text field using a combination of the two elements above? I'd also like to put a line break between the two elements.I tried something like this and could not figure it out

I've been using Flash for a few years now and I've recently (5 months+) started using CS5 package.My query is how do I successfully embed accented latin characters into a "classic" dynamic text field in my compiled Flash movie that are called from an external text file. I've searched the various forums online and all the methods demonstrated have not worked.
What I've done so far is to to select my dynamic text field, click on "Embed" within the PROPERTIES area, choose the font and the weight, then add any of the foreign characters and/or glyphs to the "Also include these characters:" area then finish up and compile. When I run my SWF file, the glyphs and accented fonts are missing but all the other typical Latin characters show up.
I tried this same method in CS4 (because we have an old Mac in the office too), and almost the same thing happened except instead of completely missing out the glyphs and fonts, it showed a box (almost like an image placeholder) instead.
i have a box called infoBox that contains a text field called caption. infoBox expands on mouse-over. When it does so, I do not want the text in caption to scale up - I want it to stay at 11 pt. So far my code to prevent this from happening is not working:How do I fix this?[URL]..
View 2 RepliesI have a php script that grabs data from a sql database and stores it into an XML file, this data is then read by a flash doc which should show the different values based on the movie. I have successfully loaded the xml doc into my flash and have been able to traverse the xml dom [URL]. I have successfully used trace to call out information into the "output" window.. But how to put this information into my dynamic text box.
I created a dynamic text box and typed in text_1 into the box underneath it. (I can only assume that this is the name of the text box). So then I used the action script
text_1.text = nodeText.node.text.text()[0];
But this comes up with some errors..

I've constructed a dynamic slideshow using ActionScript 2.0 and PHP/MySQL. The reason for this, aside from update purposes, is that the slideshow will eventually display over 200 images. Thus, to save loading time and bandwidth, I decided to use PHP to pull ten images from an SQL database, formatting the output in XML. The slideshow itself works fine. Unfortunately, there are a couple of issues I need to address; my ActionScript is extremely rusty, so much of my work's patchy.

The code in red is my main focus. It's the loop which loads all images as movie clips using the XML information from an array. The loop loads all of the images, making them transparent before the presentation begins. What I would like to do instead, to save loading time, is to load the next image while the current one is displaying. The function "moveSlide" controls the transition of the images, so I'd imaging it'd be best to plade it in there.
There's already an incremental variable being used, with _root.target_mc, for removing transparency from the current slide. The code in blue is also nagging me quite severely. I retrieve the next chain of slides by simply contacting the PHP script again. The only way I could think of doing that was to refresh the slideshow (this is done COMPLETELY in ActionScript, with nothing on the stage). Unfortunately, I could only work out how to reload the whole video.
I am building a dynamic menu with xml via php, mysql. Attaching clips from the library for each database row/xml node, etc. My question is how can I rebuild that menu if another database call is made and the list needs to be repopulated? I imagine I could create a clip on the fly and attach clips, but how could I get rid of the previous one? I'd like to re-use the xml object just write a function that either rebuilds the clip or creates a new instance of an empty clip and builds the menu with that one?
View 1 RepliesThe code I'm building creates two MovieClips on the stage, in one it instantiates several text boxes and in the other some buttons.
What I can't do is access data from the text boxes (e.g. textField.text) for use in the functions called by the eventListeners attached the buttons. I had the system all working nicely before I placed the text boxes and the buttons on separate movie clips.but this structure makes it much tidier to refresh the text I'm using.The button functions are fine with variables created prior to the building of the text boxes.
Am I failing to address the text boxes correctly (because they're on another movie clip) or is there a stage / movie clip property I need to set so they can see each other ... or is this something else altogether?Could it be that the buttons are created before the text boxes?

It works fine with English but when I try and put Greek into the xml the flash file then doesn't show the font. The font is verdana - which can be translated and I have embedded the font, with greek and made sure my xml is unicode-8 - but it still shows nothing.

However when I call up this variable later (by linking "name" to dynamic textboxes), the size color etc. of the font are carried over from the input text box. How would I go about removing this formatting info, so the variable is simply set to the letters typed in by the user?

Theres a certain page that has all the headshots of all the students, and when the picture is clicked, a new scene opens with the information on the student (along with fancy opening animations). Firstly, is that the easiest way to do it, or can i have an overlapping MC that appears over the pictures, fading out or blurring the background, then click an X to shrink and fade out and unblur the background...Secondly, is there a way to create a template thingo for this MC or scene so that it can automatically read data from an xml or text file and place it in the appropriate position for that name. I am currently trying to modify a hangman game I found on here (URL...). I'm not very good at actionscript and hopefully this will be a good exercise to learn more - I really want to learn how to make games. I have seen hangman games that include clues for words, but the only games I can find that I can read the source in don't have a clue field, and pull the words from an external .txt file. Is there a way of also pulling phrases to be as clues from these files? I could just create another .txt file and make it a new variable, but of course I would have the problem of it not matching the word. I hope i made sense.

The original file is resource.xml. I changed it to resourcex.xml to test out my error log feature.

Running the SWF from the Flash IDE generates this error:Resource - Error #2032: Stream Error. URL:

Running the SWF itself and when embedded in html from the website generates this:

This is the only info I get displayed in the text field and in the database.
I tried the URLRequsets with both relative paths and absolute links from my domain address, with a crossdomain.xml of course.I know IE on windows is about the only browser that will relay http status code. But this info is, I think, is supposed to be generated from flash itself and not the server.
So I'm building a little contact form in flash and it works, but it is passing along all of the font styling information into the email sent to the client. Kind of annoying. I want it just to send the plain text.
