Sep 1, 2010I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
Flex :: Get A List Of All Skin Classes In The Current Application?
Jul 4, 2011Is there a way to get a list of all the skin classes that are in the current application? I'm using Flex 4.5.1.
Here is the loop that I'm using now to get all the skins,

The reason why is because I want to list all the skins in the application and then be able to apply them in real time so I can see what they look like.
Actionscript 3 :: Showing Service Pack Version Of Current System In Flex Application
Nov 1, 2010I am able to port much of my application from Flex 35 to Flex 4.0
Next is to show my current system Operating system name (XP Pro, Vista, Linux..etc) along with the service pack level of my system on which my application is running.
I am able to show uo OS name "Windows XP" using "Capabalities.os" in Flex4.0. but not "Professional" or "Pro" exactly. But I could not find an API for showing up the service pack level.
I have to display the content in a label. I tried with Capabilities.cpuArchitecture and System.vmversion, but it shows up some other system data.
I want to show up Service pack version.

Flex :: Adobe AIR Application To Receive Back Events From Native Windows Application?
Oct 8, 2010I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

Aug 29, 2011I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.

Dec 8, 2009I have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.

Mar 29, 2011I have a TextInput inside a spark Item Renderer. I need to undo some behavior in a library I'm using by stopPropagation of the mouseDown and mouseUp event for the TextInput. However, I would like the TextInput itself to handle such events normally - otherwise the caret to cursor transitions don't seem to be properly handled.
Edit: ok, here's some code to explain what's going on (although it's completely unrelated from what I'm doing, so it's not an exact depiction of my specific situation). As I mentioned above I need to be able to stop the propagation of mouseDown and mouseUp from the TextInput to a component up the food chain - event.stopPropagation() in mouseDown and mouseUp for the TextInput does the trick. However, it messes up the caret / cursor handling for the TextInput itself. Try the code below with or without the event.stopPropagation() and you should see what I mean.

Jun 15, 2011my application needs to allow users to insert rows below the current datagrid row. My solution is to to add a row to the dataproviders collection. This works, but the row does not appear beneath the current row the user clicked on.The Datagrid has a default sort order (date ASC), which re-orders the data...so this seems to affect the position of the row in the grid.

Oct 13, 2010I'm using mx.rpc.http.HTTPService to retrieve data from a web service. On the initial call to "loadWsData", HTTPservice accurately retrieves all the data.
However, on any and all subsequent calls HTTPService does not accurately retrieve the data; rather it always retrieves the first data set. I've confirmed that the web service is providing accurate data, both from web browsers and a ruby ws client script.

Aug 10, 2011I am trying to work with a global variable in Flex and it does not appear to be working correctly. In my default mxml file I declare the following

This variable keeps track of the session ID across my application for SQL purposes. On another mxml page I call the following code which should update the global variable to the current ID.

FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.appID = result.data[0];
Lastly I run a SQL Update query using the ID as a parameter. My problem is that the FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.appID is always 0, for some reason the global variable never gets updated, I have checked to ensure that result.data[0] is correct but the value never gets passed to the global variable.
